Their live album Strangers in the Night is perhaps the greatest live album ever recorded. Every track is awesome, and the 5 plus minute solo in Rock Bottom is one of the greatest of all time. And the ending solo in this song is off the charts. You definitely need to check it out.

Rock Bottom is one of the best riffs ever and of all the versions of this classic song I have heard, the Strangers In the Night live version is the best. Top 5 live album in my collection for sure.

Great, Petra! Well done! The lead guitar player for this British band on this classic from the 70's is Michael Schenker from Germany, who was the original lead guitar player for The Scorpions. Great songwriting, singing and guitar solo all on this song, which you got just right! :)

UFO is such an underrated band with a deep catalog of great music. Lead guitarist Michael Schenker is the younger brother of guitarist Rudolph Schenker (of the Scorpions).

One of the greatest British bands live ever, i've seen them perforn live over 20 times from 1972 up to the present day most underrated bands ever.... You must listen to the live version of this song. UFO was one of the best underrated bands of the 70s and 80s and influenced all hard rock and metal bands that came after. They were known for both Phil Mogg's great and cool, understated vocals and song writing and for a great string of Lead Guitarists, with Michael Schenker the best (a legend who has has Metallica and Iron Maiden as fans), Paul Chapman and Vinnie Moore worthy successors. You should try Too Hot to Handle, a nice rocker that is infectious in its melody and the usual top notch backing for Phil. These guys are the real deal and have tons of great songs since 1970. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

The guitarist Michael Schenker started at a very young age (15 or 16 I believe) with the Scorpions, moved on to UFO and then his own band The Michael Schenker Group still touring to this day.. Agree with other comment about the UFO live album Strangers In The Night.. It's a masterpiece!!

he was playing out at age 11. there are some recordings from that time frame, (very raw, poor quality) that schenker released a few years ago. i think the bands name was the "enervates" though im not sure about that

A really deep song which owes a lot of its effectiveness to its minimal lyrics. The melancholy tone in Phil Mogg's voice sells it.

Hello Petra, thank you very much for this very good reaction. It is a really good song, released in 1977. It's kind of chilled. Time for the brain to let go. Back then, people had a lot more time. Not everyone was in this rush like today. So it was possible to build up a song. Listening habits have changed. Most of the songs are composed for digital platforms and are therefore very short (about 3 minutes). As a result, a lot is lost musically. But it is what it is. By the way: Petra, you named the wrong song in the first line in the description box. Just saying. No offense intended. I hope you are doing well so far. When I was about 13 I saw this band on a line up called The Day On The Green in Oakland California 1979? UFO, Gamma, Toto, Santana and Kansas? I saw couple Day On The Green events. The Tubes, REO Speed Wagon, Journey … Misty Green and Blue such a powerful haunting song “miss you and want you to stay!”

Phil Mogg was awesome and has a rich catalog of songs throughout all the lineup changes in the band over their 50 year career. Great lead singer, you need to hear more, saw him 5 times, beyond awesome and no cliches lyrics.
