This ugly lawn was full of weeds. I did a few lawn care applications and began to see some really good results. Unfortunately not all lawn transformation videos have a happy ending. The customer cancelled his service before we could see the full transformation. Regardless, I was pleased with the results from the weed control and fertilization on this lawn. Many weeds were dying out while the bermuda grass was starting to green up and fill in the bare spots. I believe this lawn will look much improved this summer. Unfortunately, unless a pre-emergent is applied in the fall, the lawn will be full of weed again next spring.

Crazy how customers expect you to turn their complete salad bar of a yard into a putting green in just a couple months. I was very impressed with your results in such a short period of time, too bad he didn’t think the same.

That customer was just clueless on how long and difficult it is to get rid of some of those weeds and to turn a yard around, I’ve been trying to renovate my yard for three years now, I’m 95 percent done, but are we ever really done! 🤦🏻‍♂️

I'm so sorry to hear that this customer was not patient enough. In a year and a half I have gone through three lawn care people. I got rid of them not because they were not doing their job, but because they were not showing up on the date they said they would. Believe me, I paid them more than they asked for to start with and with this last one who is extremely good at showing up and doing the job on the date and time you said... I have hired him to put in a whole new sprinkler system. New piping to the backyard to a fountain. And even put in a new solenoid and new valves. Also even though it did not need it I asked him to put in two new and identical orbits control boxes. One for the back to replace a perfectly good one and understandable one. And one for the front which I call the garage one. Only because that's where it's located. I was happy to pay him what he asked without any question. I know I still have problems with weeds. But I also know from what I've learned on here and from what I've been able to talk with him about, it will be fixed over time. Because I did not know, yesterday I asked him if he had a scarifyer, an aerator and a dethatcher. I got the answer I wanted. Not only did he say yes he did have that but that it was too early to use because it was too hot in Las Vegas. That shows is intelligence. The day he was back and order to trim the palm trees. And yes that was an extra charge and I gave him a tip on top of that. This guy is a keeper.

That's disappointing. A lawn like that needed at least a season or two to turn it around. Most people don't realize this. I gave my last guy 5 years before I let him go. (I think he was spraying water...LOL!) My lawn has never looked better since I started DIY. Wish you were in my area. I'd hire you in a second.

I figured out that you're in Alabama. I just was curious because of how Brown the neighbor's yard was. And you said in a serious tone that you wanted to get this weed infested lawn to look like it. Here in Las Vegas as a transition area I never see a lawn that is that brown. And if I had mine that Brown, my HOA would be on my case! I know this is not really a do-it-yourselfers KZfaq channel so I hope you do not mind me putting my nose in. I do use a professional service here in Las Vegas. But I like to do things like weed killing and pre-emergent and post-emergent and whatever else I can do. I am a little handicapped so I do not mow or edge. Of course I've got a very small lawn. Less than 750 ft². And that is both front and back. Lawns are very discouraged in Las Vegas. They are trying to talk me into putting in carpeting in front. Lol but both my wife and I do love live green things. She takes care of all the roses and plantings and I take care of the lawn care company and the lawn. It has come a long way in the 1 and 1/2 years since we moved in here. But that's mainly because of KZfaqrs like you who are willing to give out information that I can eternalize and internalize. Yes both. Thank you. And again my apologies for butting my nose in a professionals KZfaq channel.

yeah its so frustrating sometimes. They dont water, want mowing every 2 weeks to save money, and expect a golf course green for a lawn at times. Transformations take time. I think you should still go by there and do a drive by video in the next week or two and see how it looks.

They didn’t build Rome in n a day. I mean he should’ve looked over to see your other customers yard, you obviously produce results. Man just need some patience or needs to take his own time and effort to do the research, but I doubt that’ll happen.

Whether you are a DIY lawn care person or use a professional service, when you have a salad bar of weeds for a lawn, it takes at least 1 season, if not 2 seasons to get control of cool and warm season grassy weeds, and to strengthen the Bermuda grass. Too bad. This customer will probably go through another 2 or 3 services, then give up and return to the salad bar of weeds status. He will never be satisfied.

That type of impetuous mindset is exactly why I've stopped answering neighbors and passerbys "what do you do with your lawn" question. They expect everything to work like glyphosate and have no weeds after two days. "I spent X amount on what you use and it's been a week and isn't working." Ugh...read the label! Now I just tell them I mow it short and mow it often and nothing more 😂

I live in florida panhandle and have got centepide, covered in torpedo grass.. Im thinking about planting princess Bermuda and just letting it take over and start treating for favor of Bermuda. Been using Mansion on the centiped, but it ain't doing the trick.. Kids in highschool, so wife wont let me spend the money needed to fix my lawn.

I don't know how to kill the torpedo grass except for spraying it with glyphosate. I would make sure it is dead before planting Bermuda

I'm in the Florida Panhandle too with a Centipede Lawn. Tenacity is the only thing I've used that will knock out torpedo grass and is safe for Centipede. It's a long process with a second application needed three weeks after the first, and you have to follow the label closely. But it will knock it out in two months. As Jason mentioned, glyphosate will do the trick as well. I use that in the backyard on torpedo grass clusters where no Centipede is mixed in

I have had the same kind of customers. You try to explain to them it’s not a quick transformation sometimes. Also these chemicals are not 100%kill. There will always be weeds that will escape. Customers will sometimes complain not more than a week later they still got weeds. I have actually terminated some customers and have been terminated by others. Your better off leaving those customers alone. Let somebody else deal with them. I supposed most of it be my fault for not doing a better job explaining weed control in the beginning

I went through this stage. Took 2 years and about 1k. Weeds....and worst of all....home depot Bermuda seed. Once I figured out my Bermuda was a horrible blend cause it kept getting melding fungus which stunts its growth. Got good seed and nuked the yard. Got it looking good and moved out of the state into a house that has a salad bar. Lol. With crapy home depot seed. I said screw it and bought a riding lawn mower for like 2k. It's a big ass yard. If you spray you'll kill the fire flies, so I just mow every 5 days looks good. Weeds and all.
