UK weather: Hottest day of the year so far as temperatures hit 28.3C

Watch live from Leigh-On-Sea in Essex as temperatures soar across the UK.
A yellow heat health alert comes into force for most of England today, as temperatures are set to hit 31C in parts of the country.
The notification, covering all but one region of the country, highlights the risk of increased pressure on healthcare services as a result of the forecast mini-heatwave.
The alert, issued jointly by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and Met Office, comes into force from 8am and remains in place until 5pm on Thursday.

Uk needs to revise its residential housing standard, and every house with people living in must have air conditioners, like in Australia

Yeah but we only get hot days for what 5-7 weeks a year... The other times it's mild and cold.. or wet and windy, so we focus more on insulated houses because we probably have longer cold temperature then others, like yes people have had snow and -20 and whatever but the UK is consistently cold... Unless it's freak weather or summer 🌞 or even then summer can last a week at a time.. it was only last week it was cold again.

@Chappers.Gaming I'm in the uk and that 5-7 weeks are getting harder and longer. Plus most aircon nowadays have both cooling and heating function so it's handy all year round... and it can warm up the room a lot more efficiently than radiators because it can blow the hot air around.
