Why won't you play War Thunder?
▪️ I raged at getting sniped by tanks that I could never see. Also nonsense like turning bushes off that helps you perform better. That seems like a terrible design to me. War Thunder also had drama several years ago about the CEO calling the fanbase to help strike down channels or using copyright strikes to eliminate channels entirely. That is such abuse of power and dictatorial nonsense that I refuse to play a game created by such a company.

@@dynamicworlds1 I just got the game a few days ago and before even watching these campaigns I decided to play as the Italians in 1930 and make every ship as fast as they could be, with large guns and limited armor and secondaries. I feel like the Italian hulls lend themselves well in making fast ships

That one torpedo launcher at 19:24 had a 180 degree available rotation ark unless you considered the unreliability of the game then you may or may not have missed a chance due to color blindness, my apologies if this sounds hostile in manner i am mentioning this just incase you need retrofits later on

would be really helpful if they highlighted the edges of the shooting circle so you could see it easier. more than a few times I have struggled to see it and I can see color just fine.

My current method for designing ships is to max reduce beam and drought. This massively decreases the base hull cost and actually doesn't seem to affect ship stats a whole lot. It also makes it much easier to make fast ships, you can make heavy cruisers with a hull form of 150+ and it only cost 80k to bring them from 19 knots to 45.

@@Chaos_Legend not sure about the Americans being 3 I'd personally chuse the British. But that's just personal preference. Best looking ships: Roma Admiral graph spee Hood This excludes the ships from the age of sail. As they are prestien.

Before you ever selected Forced Boilers, you should really reconsider the impact of the Smoke Interference from it. It makes a significant difference on your actual in-battle accuracy. In most cases, you generally get better performance on large ships with more base funnel capacity and running Balanced boilers

They need to add a way so you can easily compare components. An overlay of sorts where you click on one then hover over another to quickly see the difference

On the destroyer, I would think the 4 single fours and 2 barbettes would weigh much more than 2 triple 4" and they are screwing with your pitch and roll way more.

Question - what is the difference between each of the nations? Aside from ascetics, and I know the cosmetics of the turrets, funnels, and towers, does each nation have something they do better than the others?

Well, each nation has some differences. Italy is probably one of the weirdest, though. They have stacked turrets or something.

It mostly comes down to which hulls you get. The French get those tumblehome pre-dreads as an example. With the 1.06 beta I think there are national differences in gun length; the Italians like their long, high-velocity rifles. I made an Italian BB with guns 89 calibers long the other day. Had muzzle velocities of 1200m/s.

Honestly if you go with a bb with 18"+ guns, max beam, best towers for base/long-range accuracy, gen 3 radar, best stereoscopic rangefinder, super heavy shells and base fuse he then you don't need speed. You reliably blow away enemy cl/DDS in a single he hit from 20-30km distance, CAs get severely crippled if not outright mauled and you tear any bb apart with ease. Add couple cheap BBS with 12"+ guns as screening force and you are set. Building a ship with low accuracy is just making it kill even more birds without getting anything done. Why a cheap tiny battleship with pretty much heavy cruiser armament beats a heavy cruiser and be it just that you are going to hit way more reliably way further out. Still going to be fun to watch that 18" trip Ferrari with horrible base accuracy speed along. High speed shotgun but I except your hit rate to be abysmal at best.

Going with this plan means I would only be able to build 2-3 ships total. Not feasible and not fun for a KZfaq campaign.

@@Stealth17Gaming well you certainly won't get more then 2 big BBS, but 4 cheap escort ones are doable as you can cheap out on nearly anything, armor etc as they are just heavy cruisers disguised as BBS to screen. So those escort BBS don't need fancy engines, just armor of a heavy cruiser and you can cheap out on anything that is not required for accuracy. Minimal draught etc. So like below 30k tons ships, 30knots and build around 11"-12" guns, not even secondaries necessary. Still better then CA/CLS and damn cheap. And truth be told you rarely need more ships to win. And no micro management hell. But certainly not entertaining as part of the interest in your campaigns comes from you doing stuff others wouldn't. The game is just massively biased towards Battleships as a tool great against anything and the only thing bc/ca/cl/dd are good for is being cheaper for much less performance. A balanced fleet is simple not necessary, partly as logistics don't exist, just a couple bb's to demolish anything. That said looking forward how this campaign goes for you without any bb's. On a sidenote, I think you accidentally choose coincidence rangefinder on the bc, or was it on purpose?

The beam is affecting the ship backwards ships with bigger beam turn quicker the wider a ship is the closer it is to a circle the sleeker it is the more resistance to turning it will have if you put something round in water it spins super easy but if you take it and stretch it the surface area increases more and it takes more to turn it devs got that backwards

This will be an interesting campaign. 46cm guns for a Battlecruiser are really overpowered. On the other hand it will be not easy without a Battleship-class. So the Battlecruiser is the Battleship, isn't it!? Too big guns, too much speed, not enough armor, well, I bet those ships will be destroyed before the first half of the campaign. Then the light cruiser - only 15cm guns without anything else? Interesting choice. I am slightly sceptical. The heavy cruiser looks awesome, however.

I've seen him do this a few times, but why does he always shrink the torpedo launcher from a 4 to a 3 if isn't sure it will fit, it shows a green reticle that's almost 180* I dont have the game, so I'm extremely reliant on other people's experience when learning about this stuff

they really need to de-nerf the cost of alot of items when they fully introduce the campaign. It really is absurd for the price of items in this game. I understand the thought behind it but that was when it was just scenarios and skirmish.

For a number of items, yes. But others probably need to have their costs raised significantly - for example, historically fire control systems and range finders often amounted to fully 25-35% of a warship's total cost, yet in the game the price of those systems are trivial.

@@MisterMac4321 I never expected them to be too cheap, but that sounds remarkably expensive considering everything that it takes to build a ship and how much of a competitively small portion of the ship those are. Do you know why their price was such an extreme portion of the cost? (A video link is as good if not better if you'd prefer to not type it out. I'm just looking to understand better, not test your ability to put the info in your own words.)

@@dynamicworlds1 I'd assume its the sheer complexity of fire control computers and precision optics. There would also be huge demand for the best of these components especially due to their effect, navies may well pay whatever the price to get these.

Well, it is because he opted to build his own ships and by testing you get 1/2 of the budget by picking that option rather than having a pre-existing AI designed ships for you ( I know it's soo broken)

@@dynamicworlds1 It's from a book I read when I was a student at the US Naval War College many years (decades?) ago - sorry, can't remember the title. It was a detailed analysis of the naval arms race leading up to WW1, and one of the chapters was discussing the costs of ship construction, breaking down the overall price of a particular ship by each of the systems onboard. I was stunned when I read how large a percentage went to the fire control and rangefinder systems. I'd always assumed (like I presume you do) that the cost of steel, or the guns, or engineering systems were the most expensive items. Turns out that because integrated FC systems were (at the time) not just state-of-the-art but literally cutting edge technologies they were hideously costly. By way of comparison, look at the cost for an anti-ship cruise missile these days - the biggest expense isn't the airframe, or the fuel, or the explosive charge, it's the guidance system (and not just the hardware but the programming that goes into the hardware). Worth recalling that up to that point (on pre-Dreadnought battleships) most firing was done locally by each turret/gun captain - sure, the director would tell them which target to engage, but the range/deflection calculations were input to the guns individually, so the dispersion would have been really bad. Integrated ship-wide FC was extremely complex and required highly educated and skilled engineers to install, not like welding, riveting, or pipefitting the other components of a warship.
