If there was a encyclopedia of head rebuilding you would be the spokesman. Super clear instructions, close ups of all the little parts, explanations of the how to do it and the why to do it a certain way. Every youtube video should be so well made. Thank you for the time you took to make this video.

Are the exhaust and intake and exhaust rockers different? When I got the head, all the rockers were cleaned and put into a baggie mixed up
@RelentlessRacingAJ
@RelentlessRacingAJ 3 жыл бұрын
That’s an excellent question, but unfortunately I don’t have this cylinder head anymore to verify. Although, I do know the rock arm shafts are the same. I would suggest opening your bag of intake and exhaust rockers and comparing them carefully. I’m pretty sure they are the same despite the manual telling u no to mix them up. I believe the manual reads this way to make sure the cams and rockers continue to wear together

By far the best bseries assym video with well detailed and str8 to the point short vid. QUESTION.. what are your thoughts on skunk2 etc LMA's vs Oem as in terms of benefits and when you should use the aftermarket Lma please?
@RelentlessRacingAJ
@RelentlessRacingAJ 4 жыл бұрын
HaterHurter sirG345 Honda updated the LMA’s, but I’m not sure when. On the newer design the part that touches the cam is a perfect cylinder. On the old design the part which touches the cam tapers at the top. Using aftermarket LMAs is fine, but of course I always suggest the OEM newer design. However, I’ve used the SUPERTECH LMAs w no issues. Additionally, I suggest checking ur LMAs b4 opting to replace them. If u can squeeze the spring and it returns to its normal position wo binding they are good.

I have a b16a and want to upgrade to ek9 type r cams. Are type r lmas necessary and is it possible to replace the valve springs without removing the head? Great video series!
@RelentlessRacingAJ
@RelentlessRacingAJ Жыл бұрын
I don’t know if the LMAs are the same for those cams. I’d do some research and figure that out. You could always go w aftermarket LMAs, too. Yes, it is possible to switch the valve springs so removing the head. Thx for the kind words. Pls subscribe. -AJ

Great video! I recently built a GSR cylinder head and accidentally stripped out the threads for the rocker shaft plugs on the head. Do you know if there's any way to repair it?

I’d check if there is a helicoil or timesert available in that thread.

Did you find that the rocker shaft got increasingly more difficult to push through as you went along? It’s almost like mine had warped while it sat. I have the correct ones on each side. But I imagine it could possibly just be from the increased friction as you go along. Thanks so much

@@RelentlessRacingAJ I’m wondering if maybe because I disassembled the head and left the shafts in there for a while, maybe they’ve bent slightly or something

@@RelentlessRacingAJ aww screw it, just run it. I’ll take them apart and see if I can find out what’s goin on. Wonder if I misplaced a set of rockers or something. When I disassembled it. I put the shafts for the rockers back in the head. Maybe they didn’t like that and sagged or something. I do have ones from a blown head I might be able to test out and see if they work

I use the appropriate size/thread bolt from my stash of OEM bolts. A fine thread, long enuff to grasp, works great, like a corkscrew.
