You keep saying you haven't seen alot of the map this makes me smile cause when I realized the map keeps going after the point you'd think it ends I almost shit my pants.......the forest....wraps around the mountains , it's absolutely massive

Hope Endnight let's us bring one of the radios to keep at our base. Kelvin can carry them but they disappear when dropped. Edit: Also adding reinforced spikes (3 stones + axe + stick) behind the half spike fences make defences so much more greater. Red men and cannibals try to bash or jump over them to repeatedly die or get incapacitated it's funny.

100% agree. When I saw that feature to order Kelvin to grab the radio I figured that was the point but he drops it into the ground and it disappears when you select “give to me”. At first I thought it was because when I tried it, it was winter so I thought it was falling beneath the snow. Come spring same thing was happening lol. I imagine End Night intended for this to be the feature but didn’t work out the bug with physics when the game was released

@@04AMofficial I've seen Virginia also start dancing to the radio when we went near them. Maybe Endnight is gonna try and fix it so it so when they do become portable, Virginia won't always dance.

I appreciate your approach and not wanting to grab all the key items right away. I did the same and got so much more enjoyment by doing so. By day 30 I was ready to bring the current content to a close, to finish what they set up for us. My best days were the blind days, when I had no idea where to go or where anything is lol

Oh yes, sometimes the less you know/have at your disposal, the more fun! Same reason I still haven't killed the final boss in another Early Access game because I want to keep it a secret for myself, have content available still for when I decide to go for it (Valheim Mistlands). Whats the point of paying 30 USD to speedrun all items and finish the game in 1 day if you can have so much more fun by actually playing it... Minecraft can also be speedran in 30 mins while other people play on Hardcore Survivel for years. We all approach games in different ways, I prefer ours tho ^^

@@04AMofficial 100% agree, and I am a mega fan of the Forest franchise. I’ve been looking forward to this game for so long, and every time it pushed I thought “good. Don’t release prematurely.” I’ve seen so many games with so much potential ruined by a rushed release. I’m glad they went early access, if just means they respect the quality of their game and plan to make it significantly better. In the same vein, I think this game should not be rushed through or you’ll miss all of its charm. I hope there’s more to explore in the future, like REAL additional content. They set themselves up for success with this with the inclusion of the shovel. All the locations don’t need to be obvious to the player right from the start so it makes complete sense that new things show up on our gps and a whole new area is there to explore

My base is pretty much in the exact same spot, great place. I took a different route and cleared up more of the forest than you did, and made a huge wall surrounding the place with 3 tree houses near the sides, watch towers, and a big house in the middle. Traps are set all around the wall, Having no problem defending.

I appreciate your commentary about spoilers. I was surprised just how many 'find everything' vids and guides came out around launch, and didn't understand why people would want to rush all that in a game that doesn't have much content just yet. I've used that online map app a bunch for many games, but have done well not to abuse it and ruin my experience in this game. The location seems really convenient, so I'll likely have another save trying it out. On my primary save I painstakingly set up a base in the ocean near the beach spawn(took hours to get the foundation built), and feel bad starting a whole new save because of it.

Thanks! Yea... I find it a pity people pay full price for a game only to get themselves spoiled with 'Get OP quick' stuff to ruin their experience in the first place. Never understood 'level boosting' in MMO's either, its basically pay to lose. Ouch, ocean base sounds cool, but lots of work and yea, not very central on the island. I am sure you'll like this spot and everything it has to offer around it ^^

@@04AMofficial I'm sure it'll be a fun location. I think my main interest in games like this is always building first, then I warm up to exploration. Building on the ocean shallows is very time consuming and depends on using a glitch/bug to be able to place a lot of the vertical posts depending how deep you go. It still has it's limits, but my 'gotta protect my base' impulse is strong until I really get a feel for a game. Just started a new save, and spawn was in the forest on first try. The stars must be in alignment. The zipline potential of this base, having so much so close, is another awesome thing for builders like me.

Me and my brother live on the lake, but have a hunting camp at the spawn (wasn't our spawn, so it's clean). Tonight we ran ziplines back and forth and it's amazing.

I currently just leave them there as they make it very easy to quickly take a bite. I don't think its necessary to find more storage for them while it would be cool to have some rack in the little courtyard ^^

Built my base at this location using a modified version of your design. My base is 4x5, so that the "courtyard" portion of the base is 4x3. I've got stairs going up to the second floor and ramparts going around the edge of the walls so I can shoot at cannibals from safety. I put sharpened sticks out by the fences to add a bit of damage to the freaks. Haven't had any issue using just a wood bow and stone arrows. I've really only run off to get the Modern Axe and Winter Jacket. Easy access to food and water, big open space for visibility, lots of resources nearby you can gather every time you play.

Sounds epic! A larger courtyard is definitely something I would like as well, possibly upgrade my walls towards the future too! Would be cool if we were able to make a huge bonfire in the midde which you can throw those bodies on (think we also had it in The Forest)

ima try and not watch videos with spoilers or use maps to find everything and this time ima enjoy the game, cause in the first game "The Forest" I used videos and speed ran the story and then never touched the game. hell I don't think I've ever fought a mutant.

Played it for 59 hours and the best base location is the big sea. It doesn't freeze in winter and you are safe from any enemies. On top a beautiful view on the island and you can play with the sharks any time you want ;) My location is in the sea in the north of the map where you get the chance to get a ride with the helicoptor.

So you're far away from everything the island has to offer for you, while you dont automatically farm most resources for armor crafting and unlimited food. I agree living near the coast is epic, while it does have plenty of limitations as well

THIS is the best base location.... The huge shallow ocean bay next to the survival raft. A large area is knee deep, cannibals and mutants will not enter the water, it never freezes. I built a huge base in the shallow water, not a single enemy has made it to my base. They stand at the water edge waiting to be shot in the face! Zip line logs from the high cliffs right into my base. I put down five zip lines from my base all the way to the 3d printer cave.

Tell me how you get to all important areas in just a couple seconds quickly, efficiently automatically farm cannibals and deer if they cant reach you or you cant reach them in the first place? :D

i wonder if it would be very strong against the stronger enemies such as the fat red men and the fingers one, and if the traps would be enough to hold off big waves of enemies. Great video otherwise

It's hard to survive, because of those annoying Rattler Twins, but overall great place for starting.

Has anyone else noticed that if you die and get a new start there GPS trackers are in different places?

Not sure if it’s because of early access, but I’ve been all around the island and on the opposite side of the mountains there is no animals. Seems unfinished

Animals only spawn at certain points right now, while Deer have like many spawn points at this specific location (so perfect to farm them)
