Venom wasn't really a anti-hero, until much later in the Amazing comics. In the Ultimate comics though Venom is a monster and full on villian.

Playing as Venom is the coolest part of the game.

Actually, if I remember correctly, it was the comics that adapted the story of this game.

I had the gameboy version of this game since my parents wouldn't let me play games that were rated T q.q it was this weird sidescroller thing with massive maze like levels that were tedious to navigate. Still beat it like 15 times cuz what else are you gonna do when your a 10 year old with no money to spend on new games?

I know this game came out in 2005, but I think it deserves a sequel.

Now I know this video is old but I want to explain the whole Carnage plot point to the people who don’t understand, so here it is. Peter got massive “headaches” against Venom because the Venom suit cells that stayed with his body since he wore it wanted to rebond to the suit. Adrian Tombs injected Peter with some sort of chemical that made the suit cells emerge from Peters body creating a new suit. Venom then absorbs him and Eddie gains complete control of the suit.

I found out that both in the Ultimate Spider-Man video game and the comics Beetle in the Ultimate Universe works for Doctor Doom. It's also been shown in the concept art of the game but for some reason it wasn't included in the main story. And sadly I have no idea what Doctor Doom wanted Beetle to get the Venom suit.

Liked this game at first, but I got sick of the races pretty quickly. There was one I just couldn’t beat when I played this as a kid, and I gave up on beating it. Haven’t finished it since.

This is exactly how I feel about the game. Really the only thing I liked was the recurring villains. That and having to web enemies up after knocking them down. I wish more Spider-Man games would have real enemies appear for random crimes. I think the 2008 Hulk game tried something similar.

It was fun when I finally got my hands on this game in german. But the game was simple enough, some of the web slinging was clunky but I do like how you could climb up the web as you were swginging to gain height. I do wish there were a little more to do after story. The biggest problem with this and Spider-Man 2 is when you are done you can´t revisist levels and sadly skills dose´t change how you play against bosses, you got the Ultimte technice when you fight them anyway. Now Spider-man 2 had the were house fight enemies and boss rush. This had nothing sadly if I remember right. You can unlock 2 outfits but when you can´t replay the game with it I see no point. It is simpler but still fun to play. I love how it looks and I am glad Shattred Dimension kind of continued of from this.

Sometimes I wish they had made a sequel. A 2nd Ultimate Spider-Man video game maybe having Miles Morales as the MC simply because I remember that he's actually the 2nd Ultimate Spider-Man.

This is my personal favorite game of all time. And the Ultimate comics as well has been my childhood favorite. I actually have the Ultimate Spider-Man video game for the Nintendo GameCube version.

So Venom is part hamster in this game. Only explanation for all that nomming. :P I remember this game being one I liked as a kid. I think for me it was the open-world size being kinda mind-blowing that long ago. Wasn't even a big fan of Spider-Man, just enjoyed exploring that big city and doing the random events. It doesn't hold up as well as I remember, but it was fun back in the day and back then, that's all that mattered.

A complaint I have with the bosses is that venom always fights a little dude and Spider-Man always fights a big dude. There could’ve been a much better balance with them. The Carnage fight was great though

I know this is a bit late, but here's what Beetle was doing in this game. Beetle is shown to be trying to obtain genetic samples (or something) from various villains of interest. He captures the already imprisoned Green Goblin (I presume for study but it's not really clear.) who is then held (not sure if he was a prisoner or a willing ally at this point but it's not really clear.) at the Latvarian Embassy. Beetle obtains a sample of the Sandman while Spider-Man is chasing him and later even try's to get a sample from Venom. Beetle escapes from Spiderman by hiding in the Latvarian Embassy. I suppose Spider-Man decides to try and get more information before continuing. In the following scene in the Daily Bugle, Spider-Man discovers (Through highly questionable conspiracy web sites...) that: 'The Latvarians are secretly devolping a bio tactical legion.' So apparently Beetle is either a Latvarian soldier or a merc for hire employed by Latvaria, to steal genetic samples from powerful super humans to use in experiments to create some kind of Highly trained Super Powered army. (Why he wasn't interested in Spider-Man is unclear...) It seems that this story ends when Venom presumably kills him in that warehouse. From what I recall, the storyboards (In the extras menu) had an deleted scene that would be shown during the epilogue that showed him reporting to someone in Latvaria, (Probably Dr. Doom) showing him the sample he obtained from Venom during their fight, originally it seems that he was going to survive the fight with a sample of "The Suit" and report back to Latvaria. Weirdly enough, the DS version uses the old version of the script and shows Beetle surviving the fight with Venom with a sample of the suit. In fact, the DS version uses the old script for the entire game so there are a bunch of lines and scenes that aren't used in the console version. (Unless you count the StoryBoards) I strongly suspect that this whole subplot is just there to pad out the game, as every other mission in the game can all be tied back to Trask and "The Suit" somehow. Anyway, there you go.

so far the only video that i have not found u reviewing is spider-man friend or foe game on ps2. however, the character designs makes this game feel like an unofficial sam rami spider-man movie tie-in game, other than that its a fun game to play. kinda shocked that u missed this game on ur spider-man game "marathon"

I tried liking this game, but the gameplay didn't do it for me. Playing as venom is cool but almost everything boiling down to a chase sequence wasn't as fun. The art style is great though.

Ultimate Spider-Man (2005) 8/10 is a decent game

The Ultimate universe had terrible stories. But I still loved this game.

I will always recommend Ultimate Spider-Man over Spider-Man 2. Almost every single thing about it is better. Better graphics, better music, and way better voice acting. And better flow. Spider-Man 2 had the blatantly obvious burden of having to adapt the story from the movie, and because of this most of the missions feel entirely like filler. Ultimate Spider-Man was a brand new story, so all of the missions are invented for the game and flow more naturally. Gameplay is better in Ultimate Spider-Man. Don't believe me? In Ultimate Spider-Man, you can climb your web while swinging. You can't in Spider-Man 2, so you feel like a chump. In Ultimate Spider-Man, all you have to do to jump higher is hold the jump button longer while jumping. In Spider-Man 2, you have to hold the button before jumping in order to charge the jump, and then release the button. Its clear that jumping is much more efficient in Ultimate Spider-Man, whereas in Spider-Man 2 you jump like a chump. Fighting is better in Ultimate Spider-Man because in Spider-Man 2 there's almost no sense of gravity, so the enemies fly up into the air with you like chumps. It's ridiculous. And I prefer there being no dodge button. The spider-sense is supposed to be merely a warning signal, not a "predict exactly what move the enemy is going to make" signal. Spidey isn't *that* powerful. Not knowing the exact move the enemy is going to make and having to jump out of the way makes a lot more sense. It makes Spidey look less like a future-predicting chump like he is in Spider-Man 2. Last, but not least, Ultimate Spider-Man doesn't have a stupid, difficult, chump Mysterio fight that made me rage quit and never beat the game. Spider-Man 2 does. Therefore, Spider-Man 2 is inferior. Now, I love Spider-Man 2, but there can be no doubt that Ultimate Spider-Man is better than that chump Spider-Man 2.

If you didn't like the game, feel free to say you don't recommend it, after all we're watching this for YOUR opinion. You could end every review of a game you don't like with "I'm sure someone out there likes it so feel free to try it", but it becomes more interesting when you take a hard stance for or against games most of the time, in my opinion.

This game is in my opinion the best Spider-Man game to date. Spider-Man ps4 was great but I feel like it really lacked a great story mode like Spider-Man ultimate had. Spider-Man ultimate has the best spidrerman campaign and story ever, plus you get to free roam as venom and even cooler than all it’s based on the comic book series and the game is like a comic when you play it. Such a cool game
