About Stepic:
Stepic isn't just a powerful and versatile polyphonic step sequencer. 8 additional and fully integrated modulation sequencers make it a true sound shaping tool. Use them to automate any parameter (e.g. Filter Cutoff, Wavetable Position, Effect Amount) of your favorite synthesizers or effect devices. With its support for MIDI CC, Stepic offers you parameter control for both software plug-ins and hardware devices.
By assigning different tempos and sequence lengths to the modulation sequencers, Stepic lets you create deep, polyrhythmic parameter progressions that add a lot of movement and uniqueness to your sound. And if that's not enough, start to bring the 200+ randomization options into play ;-)

Purchasing stepic this weekend. Things I love most about it, separate step lengths, randomness, swing, modes other than just major/minor, price, customer support and response, gui, and drag and drop. I can’t wait to get creative with this. 🎹♥️

Being an old Stepic hand, I had to wait until Episode 3 to learn anything new, but I still enjoyed watching EP 1+2 👍 If you haven't finished all the episodes yet, I have a suggestion. You can make wonderful percussion sequences, Stepic's polyrhythm skills really come into their own here. Good work Devicemeister & Jon Audio, keep it up

Everything I've been doing lately involves operating multiple instances of Stepic simultaneously. I don't know if that of interest to anyone but it would be cool to see a tutorial on it.

Thank you for your suggestion! Do you mean that you are running multiple instances of Stepic in parallel on different tracks, or are you feeding Stepic instances into each other?

@@devicemeister Stepic instances into each other would be cool as a tutorial! I've seen somebody doing it lately and was wondering how he managed to do so.

@@DogmaReloaded With Studio One you could set up a multi instrument (say 3 x vsti) and use the splitter tool to send the output of stepic to each synth depending on pitch range. This would only use one instance of Stepic. (with multiple instances, the possibilities are endless) Bring Scaler 2 into the equation and.... (my head just exploded)

@@DogmaReloadedThe routing depends on the DAW you are using. In Bitwig, Live, and Reaper, you can cascade multiple Stepic instances in one channel - a pretty straight forward approach. In other DAWs, you need to use different channels and route them to each other. What you are essentially doing then is sending MIDI notes from one Stepic instance to the second instance to control things like the arpeggiator, chord play, transpose, and pattern changes.

oh the divider is cool for variation, i was kinda wondering what note repeat was for, it really only is useful once you use that divider. really neat stuff.

Here are a few more tips on how to achieve interesting results with Note-Repeat: 1. Make sure your Pitch and Note-Repeat sequences have different lengths. This ensures that the Repeat occurs at a different point within the Pitch sequence on each pass. 2. Set the Note-Repeat fader for Step 1 to a value greater than 1 and set the Play-Head to Random-Direction (green/purple dice). Now, Note-Repeat occurs at random points. Using the Sequence Length knob for Note-Repeat, you can control how often Note-Repeat occurs. 3. Set the Pitch sequence to Random Play-Head (green/purple dice) while letting Note-Repeat run forward. 4. Experiment with Note-Repeat in conjunction with the Arpeggiator function and combine it with the tips from point 1 to 3. As a rule of thumb, the best results with Note-Repeat are achieved when 'repeats' occurs at varying positions within the musical sequence.

Great stuff. I was skeptical about the note repeat section i.e. why not just program the pitches you want with the green pitch slider section? but once the individual sequence lengths are made uneven and random kicks in, hey, instant inspiration (and poly-rhythms to boot beeatches....)
@devicemeister
@devicemeister 8 ай бұрын
That's exactly the point! Note Repeat unleashes its full potential with polymetric sequences or when you activate Random Play Direction in the Note Repeat section (the green or purple dice). If you then also activate value randomization on the repeat step and limit the range a bit, as Jon did, it can lead to very interesting results.🎶

Hello, if I have a chord progresión on my song, while combining mayor, menor, and other variable chords, this sequencer follow and correct the notes according to the chord progression? or simple still inline, sounds like a basic one finger arpeggiator? Thank you.
@devicemeister
@devicemeister 8 ай бұрын
Hi, I'm not entirely clear on what you mean. Are you asking if you can send chords to Stepic to play its arpeggiator? That's possible! Feel free to watch the two Stepic 1.5 videos on our channel. They will give you a good insight into how Stepic's MIDI Play feature works: - "Stepic 1.5 - MIDI Play, MIDI Mapping, MIDI Thru, FL Studio 21 Support" - "Stepic 1.5 Live Set Walkthrough by Martin Stürtzer"

In your step tie section you show how to make a single note play for longer, but is there a way to tie two separate notes at different pitches together?

The feature you're looking for is Legato. In the current state, Stepic doesn't have this feature. However, it is on the wishlist and has a high priority. I can't give you an exact timeline for its implementation yet, but it will be part of one of the next feature updates.

Nice. Have any improvements been made yet for working with more than 16 steps? I still struggle with the fact it switches patterns while playing rather than letting me focus on one pattern at a time while it plays through the full 32 steps in the background.

You can pause the automatic pattern changes by turning on the yellow 'hold' toggle in the top bar. Also, feel free to check out the second part of this course, specifically the chapter titled 'Hold' on our KZfaq channel.🎥

I'm using Stepic in FL Studio 21 to run Serum and I cannot get the arpeggiator to work in midi play. Transpose works, but the arpeggiator just plays the single note.
@devicemeister
@devicemeister 8 ай бұрын
When you use the arpeggiator, you need to send chords to Stepic from your MIDI keyboard or the piano roll of your DAW in order for it to form arpeggios. Have you tried that? If you can't get it to work, please send an email to our support. Together we will figure it out.👍

Is it possible to set a note chance?
@devicemeister
@devicemeister 5 ай бұрын
Hi, Stepic features a Probability mode, allowing you to set the likelihood that a note of a step will be played. You can choose between fixed or percentage-based probability. With the fixed probability, you determine that a note, for example, is only played on every third and fourth pass. We discuss Probability in part 4 of this course in detail. You can find it on our KZfaq channel.
