About Stepic:
Stepic isn't just a powerful and versatile polyphonic step sequencer. 8 additional and fully integrated modulation sequencers make it a true sound shaping tool. Use them to automate any parameter (e.g. Filter Cutoff, Wavetable Position, Effect Amount) of your favorite synthesizers or effect devices. With its support for MIDI CC, Stepic offers you parameter control for both software plug-ins and hardware devices.
By assigning different tempos and sequence lengths to the modulation sequencers, Stepic lets you create deep, polyrhythmic parameter progressions that add a lot of movement and uniqueness to your sound. And if that's not enough, start to bring the 200+ randomization options into play ;-)

It surely is the last tutorial about basic operations, but I for one would like to see what people are making with It, being as it is a device so full of creative potential. So maybe a series of "tips and tricks" could be nice.

Awesome stuff! My brain hurts more and will have to watch all of these several more times, but great tutorial!! To answer your question on future series stuff... maybe cover a bit more details on how this works in Live and the differences? Or how to create great sequenced rhythms in it... as a lot of the ones I create are terrible, lol. I don't know. It was a very complete series. Thank you.

Picked this up today and I absolutely love it. have been playing with it for the last few hours. It's making my new Hydrasynth sing. Have created a new device for it in Stepic and have all the Hydrasynth CCs ready to go along with one for my Waldorf Pulse. within 3 minutes of activation I had something really tasty going :) 10/10 ❤ EDIT: great tutorials as well.

Please don't make any more videos about Stepic, as we need to keep this awesome and powerful plugin a secret!! Just kidding, this has been an amazing series, and Jon has done a wonderful job of explaining the many features and incredible uses that Stepic can be applied to. Really great work indeed, and this will only amplify the performance and capabilities of so many other instruments and plugins to a whole new level! Thank you for taking the time to put this all together 🙂

Your support for learning Stepic is awesome❤ I only have one question cause I saw it previously on a different M4L Device. Could you implement that if we open Stepic in Ableton as M4L to stay on top of Ableton, like a regular Plugin? Idk if it's hard to implement this but it would be perfect.
@devicemeister
@devicemeister 7 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, this is a limitation of the Max for Live VST host function. Stepic's user interface isn't a Max device but a VST3 plugin hosted by Stepic's Max devices. We are aware of this problem and are trying to find a long-term solution. If you are on Windows OS, you can use a "Keep Windows always on top" app as a workaround. With it, you can keep Stepic's UI window on top using a keyboard shortcut, as long as you need it. If you need help with this, feel free to write us an email at the official contact address.
@nuuality
@nuuality 7 ай бұрын
@@devicemeister ok, I understand. Didn't know that this VST hosting is possible. It's no big problem at all and I already found a workaround cause my monitor is large enough to place it outside the Ableton screen. It's a nice to have in terms of workflow but nothing that would downgrade your great work.

Just as a newbie, with a long road to get to using this to its full potential, I would like the ability to audition and possibly see the note by clicking the slider rather than auditioning at the top or visually seeing the note to the left

can this mapping be done in bitwig at all?
@devicemeister
@devicemeister 6 ай бұрын
If you want to automate Bitwig's own parameters with Stepic, use the MIDI Modulator for that. Do the following in a track where you have loaded Stepic: 1. Load Bitwig's MIDI Modulation into a device. 2. Connect the MIDI Modulator and one of Stepic's automation sequencers by assigning them the same MIDI CC number. 3. Now map the MIDI Modulator to the Bitwig parameters you want to modulate. If you have any further questions about this, feel free to email us at the official contact address. You can find it on our website.

Can't make it work with Phase Plant. Has anybody made it work either in Live or Bitwig? If yes, then what's the trick?
@devicemeister
@devicemeister 7 ай бұрын
Hi, In general, Stepic works well with Bitwig and Live. If you want to automate parameters in Phase Plant via MIDI CC, use Phase Plant's 8 macro knobs for this. If you need assistance with the setup or Stepic in general, feel free to send an email to our support or join our Discord. You'll find all contact information on our homepage.

The question is just as pointless as asking a car manufacturer whether their car can roll on wheels.
@3d-marabu
@3d-marabu 8 ай бұрын
And then what's the point behind it? Stepic itself is the Midi controller
@bobrv8
@bobrv8 8 ай бұрын
@@3d-marabuI don't think it's pointless. Stepic is a software MIDI controller. It would be good if a hardware MIDI controller can be used to control Stepic parameters.
@devicemeister
@devicemeister 8 ай бұрын
Hi @bobobobo490, making controls (sliders, knobs, etc.) controllable via MIDI controllers is a feature that could find its way into Stepic. I don't have any concrete plans for this yet, but I will consider it. If you want to stay updated on Stepic, feel free to subscribe to our newsletter and KZfaq channel.
