The United Nations, a longtime advocate for human rights through treaties and laws, faces stark realities.
Despite its efforts, rights violations persist, especially in conflict zones like Gaza, Sudan and Ukraine, where life, safety and basic needs are severely compromised.
Meanwhile, emerging technologies and the climate crisis further challenge these rights.
Addressing these critical issues, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, talks to Al Jazeera.

Volker, like most officials in the UN, is still reluctant if not scared to go all out in their criticism of Israel. Just call it like it is. Get it off your chest. You'll feel better knowing you don't have to mince words.

Mr. Volker who is a chief of human rights council afraid to mention about US involvements in Ukrain and Isreal- Palestine situations. While he agree that Russia convicted genocide, in the other hand Israel is above the law. There is double standard.

Volker is an embarrassment to the position…. trying really hard not to call out on the obvious genocide and point out to the obvious guilty parties. He has to go. I wish he would be replaced by Francesca Albanese.
