The water you've been drinking could have harmful toxins. Between toxic train derailments, radioactive water leaks, and any number of disasters your water is at risk. You must have clean, safe water to survive whether that is every day or in a disaster or emergency. While I wait to find out if my well water is radioactive I'll test a couple ways to purify water so it's safe to drink so we always have safe drinking water. If you have two pots. you can distill water at home very easily. Millions of people die from contaminated water every year. Don't be one of them.

Most people are not aware that there are 2 types of minerals, organic (positive charge) and inorganic (negatively or neutral charged). The minerals that are left behind in the distillation process are inorganic minerals, aka...dirt, rock sediment. The human body can not use these minerals anyway. The organic minerals that the body can use are found in the food we eat and only from the food we eat. Before the Rockefeller age of ''medicine'', distilled water was the go to for health and well being. It removes anything in the body that would be considered inorganic. Inorganic minerals (boasted and believed to be ''healthy'') are one of the main causes of dis-ease in the body. Most inorganic minerals we ingest are expelled by urination and defecation for a reason. What the body can't expel gets tucked away in all nooks and crannies of the body leading to things like joint and muscle pain. Inorganic minerals, in extreme cases, are also responsible for things like kidney and gall stones and far worse over time and accumulation. The benefit of distilled water is that it will break down anything inorganic (sediment) and help flush it out. To this day it is still recommended for heart attack victims to drink up to 4 liters/day to help break down and flush the body of unwanted impurities in dire situations. Don't let ANYONE try to convince you that pure (empty) water can hurt you in any way. That is simply idiotic. You are water! My point...Rockefeller ''medicine'' is dependent on repeat customers. It's called an industry for a reason. There are many things this industry doesn't want you to know. This is one of them. Do the research or be a victim of the system. Google is NOT your friend in this regard.

TIP: it is NOT recommended to "boil" the dirty water to the point the steam bubbles are explosively leaving the water (aka Rolling boils) as contaminants from the dirty water can be ejected up onto the collection lid and recontaminate the distilled "clean" water. It doesn't take much longer to keep the water at a gentle simmer where few, if any steam bubbles are breaking the surface of the "dirty water". With your lid setup, this would require very little heat as a pseudo-pressure cooker is created allowing the dirty water to release the H20 Vapor at a lower temp than 212F (usually around 210-205F is sufficient). This splash up concern varies with the a) contents of the dirty water, b) geometry of the pots, lids, etc. and c) the temperature of the boil (aka what volume of un-vaporized dirty water droplets are flying up and hitting the lid to slime their way into and thus contaminate the "clean water." Slow and steady, yet again, wins the race.

Great video and I hope everyone who watches takes action. In every house I lived in (except 1 of the 5) I have installed whole house water filtration - applied to city and well water locales. My current house I added an ultraviolt C light canister to the water line. No viruses or bacteria can survive a blast of UVC. Pelican systems sells them. Others might also. And nothing like showering (or bathing -whatever) in water without chlorine or flouride or anything the filter removes. (I have found reverse osmosis to be too expensive, too bulky, and too slow.)

Ill never be able to prove it, but both my parents got Parkinsons in the later years, and they had a dugout, While they never drank it, they still bathed in, washed dishes, etc. Lots of run off every spring from all over. But both of them getting it is to much of a coincidence. When we lived on our acreage, I hauled water from the city into a cistern. Even then, I still tested it every 3 months for free at the local hospital. I learned a lot in 11 years about chlorine levels, biofilm and the cleaning of my water tank and cistern.

I am impressed by the simple idea of turning up the lid on the pot. If it is untenable to use electric or gas to boil your water it can be distilled by using the sun. Just put a wide but shallow pot or bowl in the sun and let the sun evaporate the water. I have done this when I dug a hole at the beach, put a black rubbish bin back over the hole and a stone in the middle above a canteen. It was just an exercise to test the process but it worked. I also put a black rubbish bin bag over a large leaf tree and at the end of the day there was enough water for a drink in the bag. Try it for fun!

My homestead well reaches a very pure aquifer and is far from our leach field... but we also have a silver mine on our property that is not in the same slope of the mountain as our well, but we do have our well water tested annually. We also have our own water testing kits. The only issue ever found with our well water is hard water, but other than that, it tests cleaner than municipal treated water (tap water). It is crucial to test your well water and know how to properly filter it for whatever contaminants that might end up in your water. Yes, my family did a lot of research and paid a lot of money to make sure we found the right property with the proper permits from the builders/plumbers who built and installed our personal infrastructure.

Hey Hax - That's a great video. Thumbs up. Thanks. Best to Kim & the girls. Heading back to Iowa soon. Winter in FL has been great. Lots of shops down here in St Pete Beach sell some awesome Pollywood Adirondack chairs. You would feel right at home. :)

The Mythbusters episode showed that coliform is all over most, if not , all houses. The coliform contamination may have come from the faucet surfaces and or the air while you were filling the sample jars.

@@HAXMAN I take bacteriological samples for a public water supply and here in Texas they test for total coliform as it is easy to do and is an indicator organism. The presence of it indicates the water could be contaminated.. The absence of it indicates the water is likely not contaminated. The trouble would be if fecal coliform were present. Coliform are all over you now and not a threat. You have to be very careful taking a sample. It's likely that you contaminated it yourself especially if touched the inside of the lid or mouth of the bottle.

Our last well water test came back AWESOME in fact my city water test came back worse than our well water test... But we still filter all the water we drink or cook with. And I spent big money on the filter system. I love drinking water but it's got to be GOOD WATER!!!! I heard that someone had bottle waters tested and found out that most of them were not so good for long term drinking.. I wash I could find that report again... I say everyone be safe and buy a GOOD water filter system!!!!!

It's important to note that distillation can work for some contamination but not all. Some chemicals boil a lower temperature then water or even the same temperature.

Thought I had a Land Contract, folks stated they had the water tested. After a year of girgling stomach and making toilet soup I had the water tested... apparently they did not or lied about the results. It was so bad, the fella at the waste treatment plat took me into the facility to show me around so I completly understood the process. He also showed me samples of the town water pre treatment and post treatment... then he showed me my water and said, if this were not private property and or you were a company I would be required to call the EPA and they would cap the well... and you've been drinking this for how long? That natrual spring was subject to run-off from the animals, the road, and the fields... good stuff!

Top video mate great laughs and good advice with getting your well tested. With the seawater if you remove that little pot and leave the lid off and let it boil dry you should produce " Salt " at the bottom of the pot. Some friends of mine I once tried his at the beach we needed salt to have on our potato chips and no shops were open so we had a large pot filled it up and went for it. We did finally get enough salt after hours of boiling heaps of seawater lol.

We got a homestead in the country, 40 minutes from town. STILL our well is poisoned due to a chemical spill - that is legally still pouring toxins into local ground water. We got reverse osmosis units on each sink, but bathing water is still contaminated. Considering suing the company to put up better system on our well. The toxins did not come up on any standard water test, but they ruined our crops and made us sick.

We used to drink well water, but when my spouse had to get chemo, his doc told him to stop drinking his well water. The owners of the well had never had it check so they did, and it was full of bacteria. They had a huge cattle farm nearby and the waste was in all the groundwater in that area.
