@@dianagette4796well I don’t know how a military brass band could do too much to protect themselves unless they throw their instruments at them! Seriously though, time has moved on since the attack on The Blues and Royals but I did hear immediately afterwards that the police were carrying bomb jamming devices as they escorted from then on. Don’t quote me, it was just barracks rumour at the time

Both regiments often play together for ceremonial occasions and rotate the DOM and Drum major between the corps.....see videos of Guard changes at Windsor Castle...

This is only one band. Some years ago the Bands of the Life Guards and the Blues and Royals were merged as part of defence spending cuts. Now they perform everywhere as one band, the Band of the Household Cavalry, with equals representation from both HC regiments.

@@j.ksmith7432 We do, but they rarely play for the general public. Always at military occasions. They only parade at military facilities as far as I know. They have great bands of different genres and many can sing like crazy, the one or two times I have seen them on TV. That’s why I am so surprised that so many are bored with and complain about the royal military. I guess one can take for granted what one has.

Soldiers protect us all against the enemy without. It is the job of the police to protect us all against the bad people within.

If you watch these clips more often, you will find that police on a bike isn’t particularly rare in this area.

@@doubledee9675 What's more important to me is; A) sensational, misleading Titles, B) showing things that are normal, pretty frequent Occurrences & C) making their Videos long enough to make sure people count on the timer for Money to be Generated. This Video shows the Household Cavalry Band, they accompany the Household Guards to Buckingham Palace, St James Palace & back to Barracks for the old Guard. You will see them do this at least 2 X a Month, not my idea of rarely seen & they also do the Windsor Castle Guard Change about the same Frequency. The other video I have commented on is a Horse Guards one. Title is "No one expected this, etc. etc. It was also described as a "Discipline Parade". What it inferred was that the Troopers on Parade were answering Charges they'd been put on. What in fact it was, was the Normal 4.00pm old Guard Inspection. It was ordered by Queen Victoria approx. 120 years ago. Coming home to the Palace, she found the Guards & Officers Drunk & Playing Cards. She decreed that at 4.00pm each day, the Guards were to be inspected, when they came off Duty, to ensure they were Sober. The New Guards, minus the Horse Mounted Troopers who finish at 4.00pm, are also Inspected. They only have Troopers in the Summer Months after 4.00pm. There is mention of this in the Tourist handouts, the Museum & all the Tour Guides know & explain it to their Groups. The Hundred Years was up but they decided to keep doing it for the Tourists. It is also why the Officers & Colour Bearers march backwards & forwards at Buckingham Palace Guard Changes, to demonstrate their Sobriety. I don't like the way this Channel owner, together with the other "Horse Guard" Channel Stable, unscrupulously attract people to their Channels, making sure what could be shown in 3 or 4 minutes, is made into a 5 - 10+ Video, ensuring they'll stay long enough to count for the Money they earn. If they were honest about it I'd say Good Luck to them, but they're not.

Luckily you are an outliner and most people do not agree with your view. With regards to funding, indirectly they are paid for by monies from the Crown Estate (over £3bn across the last ten years).

There is nowhere to send them - the soldiers you see are on duty as part of their regiment's regular duties. The regiments of the Household Division all undertake ceremonial duties as well as conventional military activities. Would you rather have the sovereign protected by professional soldiers or a "civilian company" such as G4S ?

I served for thirty years in the British Army (worldwide) sadly it is time to come into the 21st century. The mere discussion over the MOD's shocking situation might shake our appalling Government and get them to take notice.
