In this video we unbox and install our Polyvision Aero Black windows. We purchased these from Magnum Motorhomes and chose this type as they sit nice and flush to the body of the van and have a good level of tint. you can see these windows and download the fitting instructions by clicking this ink:
magnummotorhomes.co.uk/shop/w...
This is not an affiliate link but I thought it might be useful!
Very happy with the end result and will look much better when the external vinyl wrap has been fitted similar to the coach built camper vans. especially on the rear doors.

Also while i'm here the mysterious grey clips are not needed when installing the blind with a window. The blinds can also be used as stand alone blinds and if not fitted in conjunction with a Polyvision window they can sag in the centre, the clips are designed as supports to stop the sagging of the blind. When fitting with the Polyvision window the blind is supported by the window so no need for the clips.

Hi, thank you for the very good videos with lots of instruction. Just a question : what is the purpose of the small metal bar that is positionned on the center of the upper face of the window? I know what you mean, it is holding the frame together. the frame is not 'one piece' as such and is bent to shape from a longer aluminium extrusion. the two ends are then screwed together with that small ba you can see. Sounds crap I know but actually is OK and once fitted you cant really see that bar at all from inside or out.

so you did the frame a few mm wider than the window and then you made the hole the same size of the frame is that right?
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203 2 жыл бұрын
Essentially, I made the hole in the van where the inner lip on the window itself that will physically push through the metal body of the van a couple of mm larger so that it would fit nicely first time and not have to start 'filing' away at the hole to make it fit. I also then ensured the wooden inner frame was again 'well sized' so it fits first time. I would say a couple of mm again is fine or even up to 5mm will work OK. The polyvision windows have a good 1.5cm of meat all the way around so better a slightly loose fit that goes in first time than a tight fit after hours of fighting with the metal file.

Hi, very informative video and series. Given that the door / body skin has a radius of 5000mm and these window frames are flat, I calculated the gap top and bottom should be approximately 7.5mm for an overall window frame height of 550mm. Which in theory might require quite a thick bead of sealer up to 8.5mm thick at the top and bottom of the window frame if you assume at least a 1mm thick bead of sealer between the window frame and door skin. Yet looking at your final result, you seem to have a reasonably even gap all around the frame to door skin. This can only lead me to assume the door skin and frame deflect to meet each other? Was the uneven gap noticeable prior to applying the sealer and bolting together? This has me agonising on whether to go for the Dometic S7P windows which appear to be the only windows with a 5m radius specifically for curved sides e.g. the Ducato, Boxer, Citroen etc. But they are more than double the price!
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203 Жыл бұрын
thanks for the great question. yes the window is flat but as the body is pretty thin and flexible, the two pull together neatly all the way around for a even gap for the sikaflex. yes it could be argued that this distorts the shape of the body very slightly but it really does not notice, especially as the side of any FCA van is like a relief map of the Himalayas anyway if you look down the side from the rear. I would not spend the double price for the Dometic windows, these Polyvision ones are great, very happy. But up to you of course, it is your money... best of luck with it.

@Dickie2702

The panel is going to be inherently flat because the flat wooden frame inside is pre-bonded to the van. On white van, you'd never notice, on a dark colour possibly but you'd have to look pretty hard.

It was 27x44 timber from B&Q if my memory serves me correctly on the rear windows and the sliding door. on the 'odd one out' window I doubled this up to fill the gap and also some other shims and things. that one is awkward as the gap is smaller at the top than the bottom. As wood is so so expensive now, I would get your window and the panelling you intend to use and then take measurements of the gaps to buy the right thickness for your situation before installing the window. my wood purchase was actually just a guess but luckily it turned out to be perfect!!

@@wiltshirecustomcamper7203 Hi, top video. Regarding the size of 900x500 side windows, I would like the largest windows possible. To that end, it looks like you might not be able to fit the next size up, which is 1000x550 when you consider the internal frame. Would you agree?
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203 2 жыл бұрын
@@patrickbruce9002 Yes, I think the 550 height may be OK but the width will be very tight on the inside to fit a frame. might be an idea to call Magnum and see if you can find the dimensions for the required hole cut out for that window then make a cardboard template and test fit it and see if a wood frame will fit. Other option although personally not a fan, would be glass of course as you can cut out a larger aperture. Hope that helps and good luck with it.
@patrickbruce9002
@patrickbruce9002 2 жыл бұрын
@@wiltshirecustomcamper7203 I assume you meant the 550 height will be very tight as I've since measured the recess on my Relay and established it is 547mm high x 1150, where the wood would then be onto the slightly larger 2nd skin of the door, which I measured is 605 x 1200. (if that makes sense) So, a wooden frame of say 20mm wide (2x20)+550= 590 high. Instead of your size which is 34 wide x 27 deep. Looking at the width of the clips and the detailed drawing that can be downloaded from Magnum motor homes, the total window frame height is apparently only 14mm larger than the aperture. So in theory the wooden frame only needs to 550+(2x14)= 580mm + say 2mm all round for clearance means a 20mm wide by 27mm deep frame would fit and provide enough are for the clips. Could you see a narrower frame being an issue?

Was purchased privately. tried to buy new through van sales companies but found I was lacking a good Stetson and boots to be able to relate to them so gave up and bought second hand privately.

Look like a good option but quite costly compared to the nirmal bubble type windows

I'm not sure what bubble windows are but I didn't think these were crazy expensive? cheaper than the dometic ones anyway.

Ha Ha. I always measure everything within a tad and a smidge.

It gets complicated because in some parts of the country a tad is smaller than a smidge, in others the smidgeon is smaller, but obviously the 'nats whisker' is the smallest...... :-)

@@wiltshirecustomcamper7203 I'm just re-watching your videos on CAK tanks. Are they made from HWPE? I have looked on their ebay listing and their website. There is no mention of what type of plastic is used? They look blown molded but looking at your video they dont look very thick. How thick was the plastic? It's hard to tell from the video but the tank only looked about 2mm to 3mm thick.

Yes please do! Great video but awful music. I love music and I love informative videos but do not understand why they should mix.
