In this video I finish off my water tank installation by installing the drain taps and give a run through on how I have installed my water system.

I’m loving watching your build series. I’m in the early stages of my second van build and with my learning experience and watching your videos I’m going to build something good. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

Hi. Thank you for taking the time to do the videos. Really appreciate it. I am trying to find the connections between the filter and 12mm push fit and the between the accumulator and the 12 mm push fit. Thank you.

everything you need would be available fro Magnum Motorhomes, just have a good dig through the 'water and plumbing' category.

Really good content! I can see the attention to the detail everywhere. I've started my conversion two weeks ago. Where did you bought the pipes, valve, non return valves etc?
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203

Most of it came from Magnum Motorhomes to be honest, but most campervan supplies sellers will sell most of this type of thing, prices can vary though so shop around and remember to include shipping to total.

If you think about relocating the taps I would recommend placing on the driver’s side of the van. Waste water drains are often in tight spaces on sites and it makes the ‘aiming’ easier if it is on the other side.

yeah, not happy at all with drains, also the tank sits downhill slightly to the front so may cut new hold at front end and pipe from there yet. thanks for watching.

Great video, clear and instructive, thank you. You refer to the connection between the Shurflo and the fiamma, what is it called please as I’m struggling to find it? If you have a link that would be great. 🙏

Have you had any issues with the split water feed? Love the idea and going to look at adding it to my build (oh the thought of having to remove everything to get back into all that)
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203 2 жыл бұрын
No, not at all. I have used both methods on several trips and it works well. it is dependant on the non-return valves operating correctly of course so another option it is replace these with the JG 1/4 turn isolators and manually change from one to the other as required if placed appropriately for easy access somewhere in the van. hope that helps.

Does your pump draw water in through the whale inlet when on a campsite or is it just pressure fed? Im wanting to have the option you have of using a mains connection on campsites and an onboard tank too
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203 10 ай бұрын
The Whale is just pressure fed from the water mains but it is my understanding the whale socket limits the pressure to 2bar max. to be honest, it seemed a great idea at the time and does work perfectly but 18months into our travels and have not actually used it once yet?!?!? based on that I'm not sure I would do it again, although it does work and the idea is sound. hope that helps. good luck with your build.

Ingenious water inlet with the one-way valves - is it working as anticipated? I’m very much at a bulid stage where I can nick good ideas from those that have been there and done that 😊
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203 5 ай бұрын
Yes, works exactly as anticipated but have actually found spend most of time 'off grid' so actually only used it the once so far, so although a great idea would actually not do it again on 2nd van to be honest. if you spend alot of time on campsites then it is perfect though.

I'm very inspired by your videos to build my own campervan - I'm learning a lot here with you! Keep doing the excellent work! What you have done with the water inlet overflow pipe? I'm not seeing on the video
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203 2 жыл бұрын
HI, presumably you mean the breather pipe? if so then as the tanks are underneath and they have air vents in the top there was no need to fit the breather pipe. this only applies I think to internal water tanks. So if I overfill the tank the water comes out of the air release holes on the top of the tank and straight to the floor. hope that helps and that I understood the question OK? regards.
@paidoluca
@paidoluca 2 жыл бұрын
@@wiltshirecustomcamper7203 Thanks. Yes you explained that very well. So you isolated the breather line from the Fiamma water inlet? Have you run any test on that, trying to overflow the tank? That will make a great video. :)

Great video ! Just wanted to ask how did you attach the 15mm white pipe to the CAK tank? I’m trying to figure how to fit my 12mm pipe to the tank but the fittings coming out are smooth.

Did you just use a push fit to attach the smooth side as well as the 15 mm pipe
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203 Жыл бұрын
the connection on the CAK tank is 15mm so I simply used a 15mm push fit coupler straight onto it. hope that helps, best of luck.

I have enjoyed your van build video's and the way you have solved the challenges you have encountered on the way. However those emptying taps look rather small. Ok for the fresh water one as you only use that at the end of your trip but the waste one will take a long time to empty the tank if it is full. Think you will have a few disgruntled people in the queue behind you at the waste water dump on sites or aires
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah! I 'm not convinced either to be fair, if it proves an issue I will replace with bigger outlet pipe on the waste tank. thanks for your comment and kind words.

Good job with making those taps 👍 I'm planning on doing the very same, only I'd like to tuck my taps up a little, away from view to keep things more stealth like. So I got a question for you bud. Are there any legal requirements that we must have the taps this way exposed at the bottom where you have located them. Also this van build & these KZfaqs have been an inspiration, so thank you.
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203 2 жыл бұрын
thanks for the comment and your kind words. I don't think there are any legal requirements regarding drain taps other than the common sense ones of not protruding out to catch a pedestrian and things like that. You will find you will be governed by the location and height of the outlets on your tanks as to where and how low these taps go and water does not, generally, go uphill! you could of course fit a small pump to pump the water out if you wanted to hide the taps up underneath the van out of sight. Good luck with your build and thanks for watching.

Hi Nick, thanks for the comment. I have been very busy over the school holidays with the kids, mostly in the van so it has had a real good 'shake down' so to speak. Will be back on it soon and the van tour will be one of the first things to do although I do have some small upgrades and changes I want to make following the shake down as well. regards.

internal dimensions are 970 x 680, however I did not realize when I bought everything that the sink hangs off the back of the toilet a long way so if you had a different sink arrangement and the back of the toilet touched the back wall it would be 860 x 680. toilet and sink and shower tray all came from magnum motorhomes if that helps. it was not their 'kit' but got as separate items. shower build videos coming very soon, just finishing off the tambour door and then will compile everything.
