Diy camper builders all seem to go down a black hole when it comes to insulation Inc you Let's put this into perspective No van or campervan on the planned is air tight Not one, if that was the case, People would die from a lack off oxygen. And with every justification to insulate. I can counter that argument because no one touches the cab area That's a 3rd off most vans If it was ubba critical to have to insulate or prevent heat loss, moisture etc etc at the back, why does that go out off the window when it comes to the cab Taking a realistic approach is something I've not seen by ANYONE

2 years ago we converted a brand new Iveco Daily L4H3 which we now live in. That wasn't the plan originally but after two 90 day trips to Europe we hated being in a house. We stop warm air from touching cold metal by sticking foil bubble wrap to every inch of metal on the inside. We then insulated it with wool. 2 years on, a season sking in the alps and 2 summers in 30 degrees plus and we would recommend that method to anyone. We have no damp and the only condensation we get is on the windows of the cab.

Any issues with the angle of the roof? Some people have said you have to use specific brackets given the lean on the upper side of the roof (i.e. it leans inwards). But then I can’t see any H3 ducato specific brackets on fiammas website anyway
@wiltshirecustomcamper720314 күн бұрын
not really been an issue, a couple of times it has caught right at the end just a bit, but by winding it in and out again it clears so has been OK for me. I too heard about these brackets but never found them. if really concerned I think you could use spacers or washers with the existing brackets to gain a little bit extra. hope that helps.

Can i ask you your experienvce on those Thule Cab locks? - i have found very little review out on tinternet about them. Do you think they are effective if say a window is smashed would the internal cab lock being a keylock prevent an intruder easy egress again, only the smashed window being available.
@wiltshirecustomcamper720314 күн бұрын
Um... I think they are more a visual deterrent for the opportunist. yes they lock, yes they hold the door but wouldnt cope against a crowbar very well I dont think. for me they work well as I have the deadlocks for when I'm away from the van and the thule cab locks for overnight when I'm in the van. i dont use the deadlocks overnight for 'escape' reasons should something happen and you need to exit quickly. Ive just thought that the front door deadlocks are not in the video, if not then I did fit them afterwards...

Hi, any thoughts after fitting the awning to the side of the van rather than onto a roof rack? Debating the two options and slightly nervous about the weight on the side panels of the van.
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203Ай бұрын
From a weight point of view, no issues at all. if I did it again I think I would carefully consider the F80 or F45 attached to a roof rack as well. that would I think be better but on the H3 it is of course so much higher again though.

Great! I do wonder whether you have a video on it but I’ve got 5 double sockets, a dometic 3 ring hob, the JustKamper 40L fridge, as well as LED strip light, LED ceiling lights. I’m wondering what cables I should use to run through the van to the locations?

I also am struggling to see which fuse switches to use for my 40A MPPT Renogy solar controller (400W solar panel), 40A DC to DC charger, 200ma battery. Would it be 60A fuse switch for the MPPT and DC2DC? Not sure what to use for the battery!
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203Ай бұрын
@@acontemporaryyogi-jonnyhun5303 Presumably the fridge and all the lights are 12v? is the 3 ring hob gas? as a rule of thumb I would use 2.5mm arctic blue 3 core flex cable for the 230v cable runs and 2.5mm 2 core red/black flex for the 12v runs. sometimes 1.5mm is sufficient on the 12v but as the price difference is so minimal, why not future proof yourself and just do everything in 2.5mm? hope that helps.
@wiltshirecustomcamper7203Ай бұрын
@@acontemporaryyogi-jonnyhun5303 The renogy instructions will tell you the cable size and fuse size for their components. as for the battery, you need to consider what your maximum 'pull' will be if everything is on at the same time and then 'round up' suitably from that. even though a battery can output 200A, in reality, it never actually outputs that much at any one time as the total load demand in the van is probably not that high. I would however think about at least 50mm and maybe 70mm depending on your loads? hope that helps. the fuse then covers the cable max amp rating, not the battery max output!!

I've just finished modifying my van seat, and I want to give a shoutout to Wiltshire Custom Camper for their helpful video. I encountered a few hiccups during the process that I'd like to share to make things clearer for others attempting the same project. Firstly, a big mistake I made was forgetting to pass the threaded bolt through both the seat base hole and the seat hole. This oversight caused confusion when the "up and down" mechanism didn't work as expected. Once I corrected this, I still faced issues with the rear "up and down" function. After some troubleshooting, I realised that the seat hole must have the ability to rotate to allow the seat to rise and fall at the back. This meant that the nuts securing the two holes together couldn't be tightened all the way. There needs to be some room for rotation. Also, as mentioned in the video, some black plastic conduit does tidy it up nicely, leaving a professional finish. I hope this tip proves helpful to someone else tackling the same task.
