Great to see this - even if you both blew my cover. It's gonna take witness protection quite a while to come up with something better than Ann Onimous. Dream until your dream comes true, Jake. Great to see you make the jump and grateful to be able to help.

Years ago I watched a video from Reg Coates where he explained why you should position the slings so that the carabiner at full stretch does not match the butt end of the limb you are taking. I believe it was to avoid a situation where the butt could jam and shock load the line, but I could be mistaken. I'll have to go back and look for it. Something to keep in mind anyway.

@AugustHunicke
@AugustHunicke 2 жыл бұрын
It’s not really about shock loading. It’s about getting the limb stuck against the line and bringing everything to a halt. No limb that we speed line should ever be speed-lined if it is large enough to damage the tree if it is stopped suddenly.
@bigjay24910
@bigjay24910 2 жыл бұрын
@@AugustHunicke you could speed things up with the clips if you left an empty pouch on the ground. When the ground guys un clip them they can put the clips straight into the empty pouch and send it back up as soon as your other pouch is empty. Rather than waiting for them to fill the pouch up after you send it down. Obviously you’ll have two full pouches to start with so as soon as one is empty send it down to the guys on the ground and rotate them. Saves space on your harness and keeps work going.

Just a little recommendation with videos. Film in a slightly higher framerate on your phone because I have great wifi and it looks a bit jerky. I would guess you're either in 24fps or your editor is. 30 should be sufficient. It'll make your videos higher quality and even more enjoyable to watch. 60 fps looks amazing but not really worth it imo.

Yeah its just too much bar, he is legit using 30% of the for these small sticks. But the reach seems nice
@johnscustomsaws
@johnscustomsaws 2 жыл бұрын
It is definitely a lot of bar to be swinging around... oddly enough its balanced the same as a 14 inch stihl light bar in 3/8 pitch... it is amazing how light the bar is and we both figured he was going to end up swapping it to a 16" 3/8 or something but the fact that he's still swinging it around im thinking he must like the reach 🤷‍♂️

You put some careful engineering into this kit. Other kits on the market don't seem to have nearly the same quality, for example the carabiners on cheap kits are really light, with no lock.
