Bought mine yesterday. Did my whole front and backyard in one go. This thing is a beast. I had some really dense tall grass in areas. Handled it all. I got the model with the different speed control. The one in this video hurts the thumbs over time. The slighlty higher model you can run with one hand easy and the blade stop is useful.

“ We’re gonna check out what’s inside the box “ Judging by the picture of a lawn mower on the box, my guess would be.....errrr ? A lawnmower maybe ? 😂

He has a point. I bought what I thought was a brand new sink faucet. When I opened the box it was a used faucet covered in calcium, lime, and scum.

I just sold my HRX, the mower was just to heavy for hills plus I had to replace the themowax choke actuator which goes bad making it hard to start. It's a $10 dollar part but I'd rather have the old fashion priming bulb. I bought an aluminum deck 2 cycle Lawnboy, circa 2002 and it is fast and light and handles the hills like a champ, the cut was better with the Honda tho.

My dad always ran Toro but I'm leaning toward a Honda. How do you like the mower still? Interesting there is no throttle control on it, engine just runs full speed at all times?
@YouMadeMeLawn3 жыл бұрын
I really like the honda mower. It's comfortable to hold and walk with, it is heavy though and not as maneuverable as my craftsman. it cuts great sucks up everything on my lawn. Yes, no throttle, but I've seen videos online how you can adjust the governor to increase or decrease the rpm's.

Name of the grass, please..!!! And, where is the link for that mower??
@YouMadeMeLawn3 жыл бұрын
My lawn is a sun and shade mix, mostly perennial rye grass. You can find this mower at your local Lowes or HD.

what happened to the craftsman m250?
@YouMadeMeLawn2 жыл бұрын
I still have it and use it on my back yard. It’s lighter and easier to maneuver around objects.

Josh, you saved me a chunk of money for just watching your unboxing about the small amount of oil that came in the mower before adding the full bottle. I learned that a new engine can start up and appear to run "okay" without any engine oil in it! I also learned that after a few minutes of trying to get more power from the oil-less engine that the engine will seize! Then I watched the video and learned from your comment that your new Honda appeared to have a small amount of oil on the dipstick BEFORE you added the full bottle. Like you said, maybe it was from the factory testing of the engine. But like you discovered, I encountered the same small amount of oil on my dipstick. So I figured if I can "see" oil on the dipstick, why should I add a new bottle?? Then onward I went to start the engine, and mow the lawn . . . all to no avail because as soon as I engaged the engine stalled . . . leading me to start it again and again . . . until the start cord would not budge because the motor eventually seized. Your video helped me realize my mistake, but I believe Honda (and Home Depot and the local Honda Repair center) have to share some blame here: 1) Calling the Customer Service line in the manual for Honda goes to endless greetings saying their agents are busy, before hanging up on me after 3 minutes. Horrible service for wanting to know (before the final seizure) what I could do to get the engine not to poop out after a few tries) 2) Calling Home Depot and speaking to an assistant manager was the second worse . . . because he flat out told me there is no one at any of their stores who could answer questions about the unpacking and proper starting or trouble-shooting of any lawn mower they sell. In the end he dug up a phone number of an authorized Honda Repair store. 3) Calling the authorized Honda Repair Store led me to getting grilled from the receptionist before getting transferred to a "mechanic". The mechanic could tell me NOTHING about why an engine would poop out after the first or second or third start. He took my phone number and promised to call me back with answers. Today is the 3rd day and they did not care enough to call or say anything. 4) I slept on this for two nights before choosing to get it resolved "My Way". Today I ordered another Honda online this morning, paying a second time, got an email confirming it was ready to pick up at Home Depot. My wife and I loaded the broken Honda back in the van and drove to Home Depot. The curbside pickup brought the new one to my van, which led to the guy to unload the broken one onto the cart - and he loaded the new one into the van. We then went to the RETURNS counter, gave them the receipt (to which they asked the reason for the return - which I said it would not run), and the entire purchase was refunded on the spot. Got the new baby home, put the full bottle of oil in it . . . and took to mowing a small portion of my two (2) acre lawn (both seeded and matured field grass). This new puppy is the best ever for the field grass portions that tend to grow faster in June . . . I suspect it is because of the new dual-blades that turn for mulching. I also learned that the self-propel has a learning process of what my walking speed is . . . so if the speed is faster than I usually walk, it adjusts somehow to where it goes at a slower pace than even the minimum setting. Keep up the good work! You "Made my day"

I’m glad you got that mower replaced. Quite the story you got there, but in the end it all worked out. Enjoy the mow!

Tl;dr- I'm a dumbass and didn't add the oil like Honda said to in the manual. I ruined a perfectly good Honda mower and retuned it for a new one...in my van. I also think Honda and Home Depot are partly to blame.
