Great information, Scott. I'm an old guy and when I wasn't old, in about 1974, my wife and I and a friend couple, in our early 20's, took a drive from our home in the Salt Lake City area. Long drive, we stopped overnight in LV and stayed in a newish there, close to the south side. They had just opened about 2 weeks before. I've yet to stay in a nicer hotel since that day. Both my wife and the wife of my friend were pregnant, my wife about 5 months and the other gal was about 4 months. Long story short, it was a bad time to take those women anywhere.. But I had tickets to see Liberace. I paid about $12.00 each. We also had planned to go to Disneyland the next day but two pregnant women put the kibosh on that. My friends' wife was a farm girl who had no clue who Liberace was and wanted to be sure that we all knew that. We went home a day early, and it rained most of the way home which made the driving worse. About 25+ later, post divorce I moved to Las Vegas and was there for 17 years. I moved back to Utah to be with family and still all these years later, I'm not sure that was my best move. But, I saw Liberace......

Thanks! I want to be there when you reopen. 🙏🏻 I’ll make the trip! I have something I’ve been meaning to send you for years. I meant to do it when we still lived in LA but we moved north a year ago. My husband was the manager of Battaglia on Rodeo Dr. for 30 years (they closed in March 2020 after 60 years, thanks covid). Back in the 90s, there was an anniversary party for the store and the guest of honor was Billy Wilder. Somehow I wound up with some autographed pictures of him. When I found out how much you love Sunset Boulevard, I decided they should be yours. There were other celebrities at the party, so I’m trying to find that photo album so I can copy some of the pictures to send along with it. One in particular that I remember well was Paul Sorvino, such a sweet, humble guy, so nice. Another one was a girl from Baywatch. I think her first name was Tracy but I can’t remember her last name. I love these walks down memory lane with you and Troy. I saw the Mansfield car once in Ohio at a fair along with a two headed calf when I was a kid. They had a Styrofoam wig head in the front seat with a blond wig on it to look like a decapitated head, which made me gasp at the time, and my cousin never let me live down that a Styrofoam wig head scared me, lol. When I found out you got that car, I was so excited. So many great memories with you. I love it. Thank you so much for providing your address❣️Now I can get that stuff together and get it to you. 🙏🏻🥰💞

Now that was a surprise! The house on Cielo Drive is incredible! Now that's a gift! That will be cool to see if you ever reopen Dearly Departed again. I understand all the nuances of reopening, but you really should! So many people are interested. It'd be nice if some wealthy benefactor would just drop the money in your lap to do it, lol! I am a Liberace fan and I listen to his albums on Apple Music and even though he is in heaven playing for God and all our loved ones who have predeceased us, I aspire to play like him but I’m a nervous and shy piano player. I am always amazed by his talent and BOY! Can his fingers fly over those keys! Good God, my fingers are slower than his. Lol. He was a great talent and is missed by a whole new generation. I actually ride horses better than I play piano and like Mr.Showmanship himself, I have the flair for bling and I love it on not only me, but my horse. @@DearlyDepartedTours

I went to 10050 Cielo in 1988. I got as far as the gate. I went twice....once during the day time and once during the night time. At day time I could see part of the wishing well. It was really dark during the night. That street leading up to the gate was not well lit at all. It was indeed spooky. I don't see how the actual owner Rudi Altobelli could continue to live there after the murders. It was a truly beautiful property. Sad that such a serene place was ruined because the tragedy happened there.

It’s ironic that you got the Movieland Wax Museum stuff because I was thinking of my family’s frequent visits there when I heard last week that Stella Stevens had died. One of our favorite exhibits in the museum was the upside down Poseidon engine room. I really miss that museum, it was so much fun.

I remember the Palace of Living Art. It was in the next building over from the Wax Museum. Saw it as a child in the mid-60s. One of the displays had the Frankensteine's Monster sitting in his chair you could have a picture taken with. "Say Frankie"! Another display was the statues of the Dutch Masters used in the cigar ads. AKA... Rembrandt's 1662 painting Syndics of the Drapers' Guild. My little brother started walking up the steps up to take a better look and a very loud alarm bell goes off and scared him back down the steps. They also had at the time American Gothic, The Blue Boy, Pinkie, and Whistler's Mother to name what I remember. I went back there in the mid-80s and was sad to see that section was long gone. And now, that entire place is gone and just a memory like the Alligator farm, and the Pottery Shack in Buena Park.

If you like the smell of the soaps - you can just buy and use NEW sandalwood soaps at better health food stores and such. I'm SURE Palm Springs has a "nice specialty soap" store ! Marshalls also has that big rack of $4.99 "special soaps" . You can also buy sandalwood essential oil -- it's very affordable too. I put a few drops on a paper towel , fold it up , and leave it in my sock and underwear drawer! (That was a hint from the Sue Ann Nivens in me!) . Speaking of MEMORY SCENTS : I will be sending you some vintage Avon soaps from the 1969-1970 era. LOTS of memories within ! Most will remind you of your old teachers in grade school . LOL

11:56 Me and my friends used to do comedy videos with our cheap Sony VHS camerea in the early 1980s . Most of the sketches sucked except for 2 of them : 1) a Honeymooners episode wherein Ralph Cramden thinks he going to make a fortune and invest in movies . So he invests in "Moment by Moment " (John Travolta . Lily Tomlin) , "Heartbeeps" (Andy Kauffman, Bernadette Peters) , Making Love (Kate Jackson , Michael Ontkean, Harry Hamlin) , and other 1980s flops . He loses all their money LOL. 2) DEATH WISH 5 : The Crackdown on People Who Scam the Columbis Record Club. Charles Bronson busts down peoples doors at gun-point and demands payment! He reads a LONG list of the records people owe money for " ELO: Out of the Blue" , "Jefferson Starship : Red Octopus" , "Fleetwood Mac: TUSK" . " Tammy Wynette : Greatest Hits", "Helen Reddy : Ear Candy", "Jim Nabors : Let it Please Be Him", "KISS: Alive 2" , etc.
