What are the box dimensions? Will both speakers fit in a mid size SUV?

They are 20" x 28" x 60" and they weigh around 200lbs each. You'd have a hell of a time trying to fit one into an SUV, let alone two.

I believe it’s just for design and esthetics. He also said that it was to cover the aluminum in the video.

Mostly design driven. However, material does reduce over all sonic reflection.

Unlike the glossy D3s, the leather D4s hide fingerprints. Also, the leather is made by Connolly - the company that provides leather interiors for Ferrari and Aston Martin. There is no sonic benefit, but there is an aesthetic benefit.
