The starter pack is always good for beginners, I got started playing an Squier Affinity P Bass and that became my workhorse. I really loved that bass with all my heart, ofcourse that's the first bass I started playing with years ago. I do recommend young beginning bass players to get a starter pack, it has everything a beginner bassist should have.

Bought a used version of this pack. One of the best decisions I've made. Bass sounds and plays great and the amp is very versatile little unit.

This is a perfect bass pack for a beginner, I got this bass pack around 7 months ago and it was a great choice. I must say, the instrument cable that came with the bass broke within the first month or so and the strap that came with it was pretty bad (it would slip off the bass at random, once I got a new strap I haven't had this problem since). But the amp and bass work like a charm and I love playing it.

I have the body part of this bass that I bought off from ebay. I attached a fretless Mighty Mite bass neck, and it sounds pretty cool.

I got this bass for christmas 1 year ago had high action though I could fix that on my own (for the most part) even as a noob it was a pretty good beginning instrument

I started out with a Squier P Bass pack nearly 20 years ago. I still have the bass, the amp died 2 or 3 years in.

First got one of these around 2 years ago but it just doesn’t sound like the way a bass should. I’ve tried fixing it several times but still not satisfied with the outcome. Please tell me where I went wrong 🙏 😭

I wish he told us about the action of the bass. Are the frets in perfect height for playing. How about the sound? Does it sound good when recording? That's what I plan to use it for. Sometimes I wonder, Is the technology been used today for this affordable bass, better than the one used in 1960 or 1970s and if so, why wouldn't this Fender Squier bass sound better than the professional bass line? I would think pickups today are better than the ones made 40-50 years ago. People must have some sort of psychological preference based on brand popularity and taste.

Learning how to play on an acoustic, steel-string guitar, but I found out that narrow-neck guitars aren't for me. My Yamaha acoustic has a nut width of 1.69 inches. The fleshy part of my finger tips keep hitting adjacent strings. So, I'll have to buy a classical acoustic guitar with nylon strings and a nut width of 2.0 inches or more. Anything narrower doesn't help me. I wish there was an affordable, name-brand electric guitar with a wider nut width.

I don't know if I'm the only one who does this, but I keep all the plastic on the tuning machines, I've had a Sterling stingray SUB for about a year and it still has the plastic

I don't get the knobs ..... I have 3 knobs, 1 P, 1 J and 1 Master Volume, but: Master Volume means to me, when I turn it down= no more sound. I my case; turn it down, but still have sound .... why ?!

I just bought this exact bass used for $100. When I got it home I straightened the neck (had slight bow). lowered the action (strings were higher than I like), lowered the pickup height (too close to strings), and adjusted intonation. For a cheap bass I'm satisfied. I'm going to put flatwounds on it to get a more vintage sound. Observations: 1. E string is not centered between the neck pickup's 2 magnets for that string. (Video shows this at 2:06.) When you thump with your thumb the E string hits one magnet with a metallic pop noise. Ouch. I had to lower the neck pickups substantially to get them far enough away from the strings so this doesn't happen. I don't know the spec for correct pickup height. I do know if pickup is too close to strings it interferes with sustain; too far and you reduce volume and tone quality. 2. Output jack is attached...how? Doesn't have the usual screw plate. Don't know how to detach if needed. 3. I have a real American Fender Jazz Deluxe V bass I bought in 2001 paid $1050. The PJ Squier does not match the real Fender jazz tone (both pickups on). Close but you can hear a difference. With neck pickup only the PJ Squier sounds like a real Precision. With bridge pickup only it sounds different from a real Fender Jazz bridge pickup, to my ears. This may be because on the Squier PJ the bridge pickup is about a half inch closer to the bridge. I've learned that starting in about 1970 Fender moved the Jazz bridge pickup closer to the bridge. Then around 1980 they moved it away again. Obviously pickup position affects tone.

They should of shown what it sounds like with the tone all the way up and down, how could you forget that?? It completely changes the feel of the sound. Although, I checked it from other peoples' videos and actually bought it this summer in that color, I had to wait 3 months. The tone for the p pickup is just amazing, whether you have full or no tone, that's subjective of course, the j pickup is great as well, especially with no tone I like it alot. Although, to make a better sound out of the p pickup, (at least for me) I had to raise the pickup closer to the strings a bit, to make a bigger sound, because it wouldn't make any difference at all when I turned it up or down (the tone) in sound, the fretboard was too dry, so I put some oil and changed the angle of the fretboard as well (my bass teacher actually adjusted it, don't try it yourself, if you don't know how). I'd say it's worth the money for sure. Just those little adjustments I said before and it's perfect. Except for the bag and the strap, those kinda suck. Also, don't forget to make your own adjustments to the amp (btw it's good), learn what each of the switches does. Last, be careful with your cable, because when you put it on the bass, it creates a long diagonal that you have to make room for, otherwise it will bend and that's kinda bad. Btw, I have just destroyed that cable so sometimes if I change my position it might make a huge hum, but that can be fixed by buying a right-angled cable, in order to avoid bending it. One more edit, if you want to tune your bass with an app from your phone, turn off the the tone and the p pickup and turn on the j pickup, that is more easily heard by the apps, because it's more clear as a sound (that's for the j pickup in general). I also got a question about that guy, is he actually a bass player, or a guitar player? Because he plays with only one finger, as if he's a beginner
