imo it's not just Swifties, it's the idol stanning phenomenon in general. The age of the internet has made it ever possible for those with massive platforms to play into the parasocial nature of their fans and lead them on, make them think they know their idol. I was getting my master’s in translation and linguistics, so I did an analysis of why context is important when translating songs, they must not only rhyme or be singable in the new language, they must also maintain their context. To test my theory I used theories of rap and poetry translation. I translated the rep and folklore albums. I studied her writing style, the decisions to use capital or lowercase letters, the literary figures she prefers to use, the references she makes to her own discography, the literary work of other arrists or to pop culture. It goes deep into my field of study, but I this is a good overview, I think.
