UNCLE DREW MOVIE REVIEW - Was it really that bad? - The Double Toasted podcast reviews stupid movies all the time but is this wrong as stupid and awful as we thought it was going to be? Kyle Irving, Shaquille O'Neal, Tiffany Haddish and Reggie Miller star in a film that brings us a great old school soundtrack, enough advertisements to be referred to as a Pepsi commercial, and lots of bad make up. My son wanted to go see this movie and I was dreading it. But it was cute. I actually laughed. And there was an older man in the theatre who was loud and enjoying himself, that made us laugh. It was good cheesy fun. 😅 I'm glad we went to see it.

I went into this expecting a really bad movie, I am not a basketball fan. I laughed, I had fun, it wasn't that bad of a movie. The biggest sin this movie commits is being predicable. You knew the story right off the bat and how it was going to end. There was no real surprise on how the movie was going to end. Still better than Jurassic Meh.

Tupac Shakur he got game was more trying to show a realistic look at the ups and downs of being a top nba prospect. Space jam and this are both cheesy, goofy movies with an absurd plot that are asking you to ignore alot of the disbelievable and turn your brain off and just enjoy seeing nba stars in a movie ballin out.

This movie kind of surprised me with how heartfelt it was. Especially when introduced to the character Boots. Also when Uncle Drew gives his friends gifts on the B-Ball court. It was kind of sweet to see in a comedy.Some characters like PREACHER would make me crack up... while other times jokes would land flat. I like Tiffany Haddish but WOW.... she was in 2 trailers back-to-back and then she was in Uncle Drew. Playing the SAME CHARACTER in each film. Still, this movie just felt like Summertime, and avoiding the Heat Wave, this was a good escape.

It sort of reminds me of Meteor Man. I liked the goofiness and the cheesiness of that film. I hope they release it on Netflix, this is that type of film I can watch on a rainy Saturday night. No way in hell I will watch this on the theater.

You have to walk into the movie with low expectations because we all know these are not top notch actors and they didn’t try to be. The movie know what it was and didn’t take itself seriously. It’s about basketball. How much do you expect. The movie did have a great message about believing in yourself and team work that was more directed to the younger viewers.

So how do you review something with low standards? Do you lower your standards to match? Or do you call it out for being low quality, low effort? You can still enjoy something if it's bad, but don't expect 5/5 when the movie is clearly 1-2/5

The fact that they made a commercial character into a movie I knew it wasn't gonna be that great of a movie. Uncle drew wasn't horrible but it wasn't great, it was just alright and had funny moments. It's a movie you only watch once. Watching it seemed like a low budget movie from the makeup, script and some of the actors. But Kyrie Irving was the best out of all the actors. I thought he his acting was decent. But again that makeup was the worst!

I went in blind, I didn't think this was going to be any good and yeah, I did come out actually kind of enjoying it, it was better than it had any right to be and I would've given it the same rating as Korey, it's a fun little matinee.I do love how they even managed to throw in some hard jabs at the NBA and there was even that one little jab towards the end at J.R. Smith's gaff in the NBA Finals that I swear they had to do in post production.

Once i saw Nate Robinsons character dunking a day after he was paralyzed in a wheelchair, i had to turn this crap off. I know it's a movie, but i didnt see no fairy sprinkle magic dust on him to give him any super powers. He just all of a sudden was able to jump 5 feet into the air. Movie would have been way better if they were like 50 to 55 years old and still showing they got it. But 75 yr olds taking on 20 year olds....nah.
