That is a great size for a knife and lockbacks are my favorite. That new Staglon is a big improvement, the old one looks ugly and cheap (even though it holds up just fine). I have a few older Schrade and Buck lockbacks that I have used ALOT and the lockup is still great and the blades sharpen back up easily. The blades are scratched up quite a bit but that makes me like them more. They're my scratches.

Ok great. The 5OT is a really nice knife as well, though like this one just needs 15 minutes of your time, to get a good edge on it and round off any rough edges. I spent some time on it since doing the review and now it's hair-popping sharp. Thanks for the props J.O.

@@ThriftyKaniffy Yeah, I haven't carried it much yet. I did make a slip for it and have stropped it but that's about it. I plan to carry it a bit and spend a little more time on the edge.

They may be old fashioned but lockbacks are a favourite of mine, unfortunately can't carry in UK now, I think a good a single blade user that doesn't take up to much room in the pocket.

Its quite an easy carry. The slip I use would add a nice gentlemanly touch to an already great EDC.

I got an uncle henry knife, the rancher with a staglon handle. It has no shield on it which its a bit odd perhaps.

There are some that come without shields. Their wooden handled lockbacks like the LB7 are an example. Thanks Rob and welcome to the channel.

I have 2 oh the older ones they were selling them in my tractor supply 10 bucks a pop!!!! So I grabbed 2 of them stay well thrifty

I rather think Schrade U.S.A (before they threw in the towel in 2004) made the "next gen" Bruin when they produced this pattern with a liner lock/tumb stud version instead of the back lock. Labled the 55OT, it combines contemporary knife featues with an older pattern. The 50/55OT pattern in the Green Bruin is a favorite of mine. Like the Case Sodbuster jr, it hits a sweet spot, size wise.

Surprised they didn't make these in D2, been about $5 more...err at least on Amazon currently 5OT Heritage Bruin $24. Good deal. 🤔

Probably worth the extra 5 dollar investment, though if the budget is tight this one is going to give you lots of bang for the buck.

It’s a well made knife. I’m not a Staglon fan. I prefer Delrin for a synthetic.

Yep, they aren't for everybody. Roper makes a good Delrin style lockback that's similar.

Yea you're right Gizmo, just the right size for an EDC, easy in and out of the pocket, useful blade and lockback. I carry the 5OTH a bunch. Take care.
