Tack fuse with super long anneal (based on Tabitha’s suggested schedules)
200-1000-60
200-1225-10

Hi 👋 Great piece! I think this would look great as a slab that's been slumped in a slight curve in order to stand on its own. I'm in East Texas now, but I'm from the Gulf Coast and things like this make me miss the salt water so much - just NOT the hurricanes 😉 Thank you, Mr. Schuler, for generously sharing your fun project with us all! God Bless 😃

Hi Jamaison! I loved watching this video as I had already ordered murrine from Tabitha. I made mine last weekend. I'm very happy with it....except I had a rogue sting ray tail roll😳😳. I saw this through my window during firing. Ugh. I'll fix it. Sending you pics via messenger. I am a learner too.

Yet another piece of gorgeousness! Great job! About the copper carbonate - I wonder if one could glue/sprinkle on the background and cap with clear powder? Never used that before - curious. Thanks, Jamaison!
@JamaisonSchuler
@JamaisonSchuler 2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm... never tried clear powder to cap. My assumption has been you need the solid glass to trap the bubbles.

I have a couple more questions about your fabulous video: How did you make the clear bubble filled pebbles/puddles that you added along with everything else? Also could you explain a bit more about how you glued pieces of tekta to raise this off the backing? What size length width and depth did you use and how many pieces were placed on the backing to keep the piece secure?
@JamaisonSchuler
@JamaisonSchuler 2 жыл бұрын
Those bubble pieces were made the exact same way using copper carbonate between two smaller pieces of clear glass… just smaller versions pre-fused in a different firing. I used thicker, 6mm pieces of glass about the size of a scrabble tile glued to the back and to the frame. I think I used 6 pieces?

Oh my goodness! I just loved this video! You inspire me! Did you fuse the fish by themselves first before you used them, like you did the coral & some of the other pieces, or did you use them straight out of the bag?
@JamaisonSchuler
@JamaisonSchuler 2 жыл бұрын
Straight from the bag!

Beautifully detailed tutorial. I am trying this now and it is in the kiln. Curious about the anneal time. Seems really long.
@JamaisonSchuler
@JamaisonSchuler 2 жыл бұрын
As I’ve heard, you anneal not just for thickness but also for the type of fuse… tack/contour fuse needs longer anneal because it creates more stress in the glass. One estimate was that for a tack fuse, anneal for twice the length of the thickness. And in the end, better to be safe than sorry. So yes, it may be conservatively long, but the cry factor was high and so why rush it?
@naturesmagic8430
@naturesmagic8430 2 жыл бұрын
@@JamaisonSchuler Yes, high "cry factor". I would just hate it if it cracked! I will TRY to be patient while I bite all my nails off! :o)

What a beautiful piece, I love it. I have to ask though, is it heavy in the frame as in would that box frame be ok for someone to put on their wall
@JamaisonSchuler

Yes, it is quite heavy. I don’t trust the hanger that came with the frame - it would need to be reinforced. I have it displayed on a stand in my home right now.
