One of the best stories I've listened to! As a gal who's a long time fan of all things creepy and paranormal; and having many memories from growing up back in the 1970's, being at the lake..my dad and I listening to those great old radio shows like "The Creaking Door" on the transistor radio..I must give kudos to you Mr. Jiry... you definitely have a gift for narrating! Thank you for sharing that gift!

I agree that Otis Jury is the only narrator I can listen to consistently. I did my first narration for Pseudopod in March....it was awesome!

This imposed isolation has found me reading and listening to some of your earlier work I was unable to hear due to a life of increasingly ridiculously hectic and mind numbing existence. I am so glad I found this excellent story, and can only assume the author remains anonymous as it may be discovered they have written published material in the past? I say this because it's so rare to hear a Creepypasta that contains not one iota of poor grammar or with very little subtext... many simply another weak variation of the lot. But you my friend have the ability to hold our interest regardless of the content, most of which far exceeds our expectations of the genre. I know this is long and the story was published years back, but I hope you find time to accept my humble opinions and respect for your masterful retelling of the best of the best, in your own, easily recognizible style. All that being said I wanted to especially thank you for choosing this particular story to add to your impressive collection, as it is a brilliant and subtle telling of a true horror. One without ear to ear grins, but with claws of truth. As one who has witnessed the tragic loss of many loved ones, both family and friends to substance abuse, whether it be alcohol or other mind numbing remedies for their often hidden demons I applaud you. May your work continue for a long time to come. 💜⭐🙏

That drawing in the corner of the thumbnail is in a very familiar style. Kinda reminds me of King of The Hill. I don't watch a lot of American cartoons though, so I'm not entirely sure what else it could be based on. Anyways, interesting story.

Great story, I thought the part about the fire was vary poetic. And the narration is awsome as always. The only creep pastas I can stand to listen to are by Otis. Please keep up the good work.

Otis, a gumshoe is slang for a private detective. I could see you narrating those roles, too.

Cordelia Hensley Actually I know what a gumshoe is, I was just wondering about the context of the phrase in relation to this story :) As an aside, we have plans in the works where we will open a new channel with different styles of narration of which, detective mysteries (one of my favorite styles) will be featured. Stay tuned for more news on that down the road.
