Noelle Miller well how does anyone know how old someone is without seeing their ID? Not everyone looks their age. Not to mention, products such as alcohol, cigarettes and tobacco products are all age-restricted products. You should have ID when wishing to purchase them. With factors such as genetic disorders, someone who looks 40 might actually be 16. It's better to be safe than sorry. Especially considering the consequences of selling to underage people.

I once worked for McColls and asked anyone who vaguely looked like they were in their mid 20's for ID, because you never know. I remember ticking off someone on my first day. Not my bloody fault. Anyway, I only did two weeks there before I jacked that job in. Horrible company to work for. I've spent years working for another retail chain afterwards, and got treated better.

Yep, most customers these days say they have id on their phone lol, no. carry your physical driving licence it's the same size as your card... had a woman kick off today, she demanded a manager, no.. once i ask for id i have the power, the one way to defeat me is having your id.

At the ages 30 and above, you really shouldn't need ID. I think a lack of training among certain members of staff is the issue. Sure they work under great pressure, not to serve minors, however if beyond age 30, it's insulting and stupid to then claim that person could be 17. Remember while they are told think 25, it's 18 that is legal age, If a staff member can't determine age responsibly, then the rule should't exist as they can't be trusted to apply common sense and make rational decisions.

@@rachel_adams9646 Do you expect people to be psychic and be able to tell their age once they reach over 30? People don't have a sign over their head telling people what their age is. I have seen people in their 30s look younger than 25, and I have seen underage girls who wear makeup to make themselves look older. The idea of the think 25 policy is to ensure you don't serve kids who may look like they are 18 or older from buying alcohol and anything that is age restricted, regardless of what your age is, if you look under 25, you are going to get ID, it's as simple as that. The consequences for not following this policy is severe, because if you fail a think 25 test purchase, you can get fired for it, and if trading standards comes in, you could get fined and receive a criminal record, the store can also lose its license and the store manager will also get fined. I think it is you who needs to think more rationally and understand why staff members will ask for your ID if you look under 25 regardless of what your age actually is.
