@EL Caballo saugdiesel (saug = suck) means a naturaly aspirated diesel engine without a turbocharger. which was basically the slowest engine you could have in the T3. thats the joke here.

I once maxed out my 66kW Passerati from 1999 on the autobahn and it felt pretty.... weird flying past all the cars at about 190kmph... I did have to refurbish my turbo after this "flight" of mine, from Holland to Poland ;d ... Memories are the essence of life:p Oh and it was around 2010 so that car was quite old already... I am still driving it in 2020... unfortunately VW no longer is "das auto"

Yes, modern cars of D segment are overengineered with unnecessary features like electronics, soft and automatics. Most of hundred features will break in 20 years if not in first 3 years. I need just a wagon body big engine car with mechanic gearbox, comfortable suspenion and analog speedotmeter.

Many years back Motor magazine did a test of a VW camper van that had a uprated 911 turbo engine fitted, but the van looked almost standard, they claimed to have had the most fun ever behind a steering wheel watching the shock and jaw dropping expressions of the drivers of some pretty fast cars they encountered.

This is so cool! Old VW T3's could be fitted with the Audi R5. (5E)🤔 This is what it is like at the autobahn. Anything can come at full speed behind U, then something else comes behind that, and is even faster!! Tried this myself in an BMW X5, whith a big Mercedes flashing the lights. Moved. 5 seconds later, there was a Fiat 500 Abarth doing the same with him. He moved. And the Fiat was gone like a rocket!

My family had this kind of van when I was a kid.Last van with its engine in back and rear wheel drive.Like Porsche 911s are. We had gasoline version I do not remember how much hp(modest hp),but in autobahn we were passing normal cars and they would be shocked to see how fast this van was.I miss those old school vans.
