Space Jame Original was Awesome as they were Don’t like to be a hater but Space Jam A New Legacy Bombed te list of examples 1, Lebron James went in the Cyber Verse so it was a universe in the internet it was Space Jam it was Cyber Jam. 2. The Storylines wasn’t written well the Story was a holy mess. 3. Warner Brothers should have took more time to make this sequel Better. 4. Last but not least it’s going to be YEARS Before they think of a 3rd sequel for Space Jam

It's also on you and about every other Millennial to stop pronouncing the abbreviation of the word 'brothers.' Great video otherwise (maybe now I don't have to review it!), but a word about saying 'Warner BROZE.' You sound silly. Or, as Daffy would say, thilly. There is no such video game as Super Mario Broze and there is no such studio called Warner Broze. When you see the word 'bros' with a period after it, as in 'Warner Bros. Studio,' that is an abbreviation, not a word. You don't pronounce the abbreviation as though it were a word, that's counterintuitive and not how language works. If I was writing you a letter, I might write 'Hello Mrs. Kiki,' but if I was speaking to you, I wouldn't say 'Hello MURS Kiki,' now would I? I see 'Mrs.' and I say 'missus,' not 'murs.' To read 'Warner BROZE Studios' would mean that it appeared in print like this: "Warner Bro's Studio' or even 'Warner Bros Studio,' but the period is everything here. Also, the original brothers Warner were cutthroat business men who screwed each other out of their fortunes, but using the word 'bros' after their name just paints them as douchebags that reek of Axe body spray. They were dickheads, sure, but not lazy. So, just for the record: 'Bros' = "BROZE" 'Bros.' = "BROTHERS" Admittedly, this is a pet peeve of mine, and as I'm the Looney Tunes Critic, and a touch older than the average LT fan, sometimes whenever youthful mistakes get lobbed toward my beloved yet ancient franchise it gets my goat (like, please stop calling the old cartoons episodes... this wasn't a continual, episodic TV show, these were theatrical shorts... The Looney Tunes Show has episodes, but if people keep forgetting that the old cartoons are standalone shorts.... why, I'm going to have an episode myself!) You're right about everything else though. Olivia Newton John is totally dead. - trevor.

Back in Action is a PRIME example of "we didn't know what we had" in terms of childhood movies. Like, it played on cable a lot back in the day, and I remember finding it really grating and annoying at times, but looking back I think it's genuinely excellent. You're right, it's very Roger Rabbit but with a much heavier coat of WB paint. There's great comedy here, plus Fraser in his prime is a treat.

Bugs liking Daffy is actually pretty on brand. They used to take vacations together and crap. Bugs always kinda just indulged Daffy's shenanigans. In relation to Road Runner and Coyote, the original shorts were supposed to be a parody of nature documentaries, so it makes sense that in the world of Back in Action they are not actors, but are actually chasing each other all the time, and the documentary crew captures the footage sometimes

While it's a dang shame this film was held back from what it could've been thanks to WB's meddling, I really respect Dante, Goldberg, and the other crew members for doing what they could to keep the Looney Tunes actually true to themselves. And yeah, even as someone who was never fully sold on Back in Action, even I have to say it's better than Space Jam by a mile. Thankfully we are actually getting a new Looney Tunes film in the near future (it's called "The Day the Earth Blew Up") that is just the Tunes being themselves with no live-action or anything getting in the way. Not theatrical, sure, but still something I think was long overdue. But anyway, nice to see you back Kiki, and I greatly enjoyed the video.

There's a brilliant film attempting to get out of one that Warner forced to be compromised. Still the only theatrical Looney Tunes film that has ANY scenes that capture what made the original shorts so wonderful, even if thanks to outside factors (original writer Larry Doyle got fired midway through production and replaced with a bunch of other writers) it couldn't be a truly great one. Sucks that it had to be the thing that pretty much sent the franchise into hiatus throughout the rest of the 2000s, as it's got more clever writing than either of the Space Jam films.

I rewatched it recently and I'm so surprised how well it holds up even after all this time the animation and places they go all feel funny but necessary the casino area especially feels like a highlight the it helps set up the story and be comedic at the same time which is pretty insane in such a crazy movie it feels like the next big step for these types of movies with cartoon characters in real life scenarios they make it seem like just another day in but with a bigger budget i hate how it flopped though it is one of my favorite looney tunes movies I'm so glad people are talking about this movie without hating it

it’s nice to see that there’s so many people out there who really care about this movie. Prior to watching this i’ve only ever heard bad things about the movie, so when i watched it the first time i sort of convinced myself it wasn’t good just so i wouldn’t have a controversial opinion. obviously it isn’t a masterpiece, it does have its issues but like you mentioned it holds up really well. daffy and bugs have great chemistry together and can be genuinely really funny. and the animation 😩👌 beautiful. it’s so expressive and i absolutely adore it. if i had to pick between this movie and the space jam movies it’d definitely pick this one, mainly cuz it’s a lot more zany and fun, and i love the references to past cartoons and cameos from other looney tunes characters. in particular (whoever hasn’t seen the movie skip this if you don’t want spoilers-) i loved the scene at the end when bugs and daffy went to confront Marvin, i just think the space fights are really cool, and i love duck dodgers so seeing him on screen was also a treat to me. but yeah, sorry for the long winded comment, i just love gushing about the looney tunes/cartoons in general and it made me so happy to see a video like this on my recommended because whenever i talk about this particular interest to people i know outside the internet they always find it to be strange and childish. which sucks because looney tunes has a lot of appeal for older audiences as well. (i should know, i was never really a fan of looney tunes till i got a bit older) anyway, this is a lovely video, thank you for making it and i will be checking out your other content after this :))

And really dives into sort of becoming a second fiddle to Bugs after Bugs was created

I was 16 when Looney Tunes: Back in Action arrived in cinemas in my country of residence! I heard/read NO reviews before seeing it and although not the best movie I ever saw, I still really enjoyed it! I’m sure if I watch the movie again when I get the chance, I’ll enjoy it, but since I didn’t always have standards, I was able to enjoy other poorly received kids movies, including Shark Tale, Home on The Range, Free Birds and The Nut Job! I can forgive a film like Norm of The North or Rock Dog for being just another bad kids movie, as those are part of life! My main issue with The Emoji Movie is that it’s a shameless celebration of smartphone culture! I despise the thought of a future where we’ll only be able to buy games, movies and music digitally and don’t get me started on freemium! Also the streaming wars are getting out of control! I have Disney+ but only because my country’s Disney channels closed 2 years ago, and I mainly use Netflix for Hilda and Bojack Horseman! If there’s one kids movie that REALLY ground my gears, it’s Toy Story 4: badly written, doesn’t properly touch people’s emotions, Bonnie seemed to have forgotten what Andy told her about Woody being special, they wrote it in a way so that Woody CANNOT come back and overall, it felt VERY straight to DVD!

Yo, glad to see someone talking about this movie! I _love_ it. It's so meta, but it _works._ I mean, the fact the Tunes are all actors really lets the movie play on their histories + relationships. And cameos (e.g. Scooby) aren't just "remember this?" like Space Jam 2 - they're actors too, so it honestly makes sense to see them in a cafe at WB. And the framing device of "this is a real conflict" was so good. The Tunes could be antagonists themselves (like Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam were) because they didn't all share the same goal. I mean, Daffy only got involved because he wanted to be rich! In Space Jam all of them just had the goal "we don't want to be sold". Anyway, point is, the idea was honestly genius - the "spy movie" premise, the way the characters diverged in goals, how their relationships were played on, how styles in the movie changed (like you said about Yosemite Sam), how they used cartoon logic. The museum scene is seriously _great._ You got a subscriber. Also, as I wrote this I saw that Junpei was in the thumbnail of "your favorite games", and I think I love you (platonically).

Btw, regarding Space Jam 2, I think my... ONLY... favorite part of that movie was that when Bugs flies around Cyberspace to find his friends... the first person he picks is Daffy. Not Lola. Daffy. I dunno why, but I sorta saw that as a continuation of their relationship from Back in Action. Also, off-topic, but I think Back in Action created this cool concept where the Looney Tunes are just Warner Bros. muppets.

I always love how the looney tunes are always able to change throughout their history to appeal to fans and be well received; I've never seen or heard anyone or vocal group dislike an iteration of the looney tunes except when it comes to Loonatics Unleashed, but I still know people who loved that show. It's just cool to see how we can see Bugs go from a goofball who's often the butt of the joke in Space Jam, a jaded yet hilarious Hollywood star in Back in Action, to a tired suburban civilian in the looney tunes show. It's interesting how Warner Bros. can do this many times, whereas Disney is pretty scared to change Mickey (outside of the recent Mickey shorts) when they easily could do so like they did with Goofy and Donald.

I watched this film all the time on VHS as a kid. I loved Who Framed Roger Rabbit, too. Just as you pointed out, the idea that they have lives outside of the production scenarios (which, given the sheer variety of them, only makes sense) was always an idea which enthralled me. It’s been a long time since I watched it though, so I forgot all about that scene transition gag. I really like that it’s very old stock footage of Paris too; nothing like the early-00s. Seems almost like a dig at the studio’s “be modern!” shtick. You’ve also reminded me that WB often get meta moreso than other companies. I was impressed with how the studio-led sequel pressures (and stressors) were literally narrativised in the recent Matrix film, but that’s essentially the plot of this movie too!

Even as a 90's kid who grew up with Space Jam I actually prefer Back in Action waaay more as an actual fan of animation. I feel it blends the real world and cartoon stuff far better. I think the the cartoon characters are also a lot funnier than they were in Space Jam with the meta humour feeling genuinely clever as parody as opposed to just referencing stuff like the Chip n Dale movie did.

Bit of movie trivia: Brendan Fraser is actually a big Looney Tunes fan and a big fan of Taz so he convinced those making the film into having him voice Taz by doing a perfect imitation of the character on the spot. This has always been one of my favorite movies. I can quote it easily due to how many times I watched it and though I enjoy Space Jam (as it gave me, my fav LT char via Lola), I do agree that BIA is a better film in comparison. Also I always describe it as a full length version of a Looney Tunes cartoon as it feels like a short that got expanded from however long they usually were to about almost two hours. My favorite gags are the poker table scene (the delivery sells it), the Area 52 bit, Bugs tricking the Daleks into shooting each other which is something I can actually see happening in DW (that scene was also my introduction to DW before I knew of it), Ron Pearlman’s cameo, Wiley’s sign of him not getting paid enough before he crashes with the dynamite, the jab at Space Jam (this is again coming from a fan of that so that says something about that scene), “Is it a mirage or just product placement?” (I now find this line even more funny considering that Walmart has been selling a ton of LT merch over the last two or three years) and “Have you seen those Mummy movies? I’m in them more than Brendan Fraser.” and of course Daffy try to fly off as Duck Dodgers. Another interesting thing is that the sound effects of the car that Brendan Fraser drives with Daffy is actually archive audio of Mel Blanc voicing Speedy Buggy and they even credit him for it in the credits. Oh and my bff likes the end credits song Shake Your Coconuts so much that they ended up making a Fruits Basket amv (og, not reboot) to the song. It’s really good and on KZfaq so I recommend watching it to anyone else that likes the song or FB in general.

@@offbeatkiki As someone who saw both Space Jam and Looney Tunes Back in Action, I completely agree with you on how Space Jam is a cash grab with no heart. If I were to rewrite the entire Space Jam story, without erasing any importance on why the Looney Tunes were cool, I would use “Looney Tunes B-Ball” as the basis (and a better explanation on Looney Tunes playing basketball, with their reason being that it helps to exercise their comedic ideas), and have three golden rules for it. 1. Looney Tunes are actors created with ink and pen and living in the Warner Lot - this is very apparent with shorts like “You Oughta be in Pictures”, “Duck Amuck” and “A Star is Bored”. Nowhere in those shorts say they live in an Underworld called “LooneyTuneLand” that feels like Hell when Michael Jordan was dragged in. 2. Have Swackhammer stay focused on the Looney Tunes - having him go from wanting the Looney Tunes to having Michael Jordan not only loses focus, but ends up making the outcome feel predictable. Which leads me to… 3. Lola being the Main Focus on Space Jam and having a developed personality - first things first, I’m using Lola’s depiction from “New Looney Tunes” for reference, because not only was Kath Soucie reprising her role as Lola Bunny, but her personality is well balanced between Sports Enthusiast and Valley Girl Ditz, rivaling the likes of Goofy, and his animated shorts revolving exercise, How-to mockumentaries, and Popular Sports. My idea of her being the main focus is this: she would have a character arc similar to Walter from Muppets 2011, in which she auditions to be a Looney Tune, and gets in the middle of a challenge between the Looney Tunes and the Nerdlucks (now transformed into the MonStars) in a Game of Basketball. Swackhammer, not knowing of Lola existing (evoking the same reaction the audience had from the actual film), feels she qualifies his need for an attraction for Moron Mountain, thereby changing the stakes to “Will the Looney Tunes escape the Wrath of Swackhammer” to “Will the Looney Tunes be the same without Lola”, just that the change is more justified compared to having Michael Jordon take the bullet.

I remember watching this movie as a kid, it became my go-to comfort movie next to the Simpsons Movie. I still re-watch it to this day, especially when I need a good laugh/chuckle. This movie deserves more love!

As a huge LTBIA Stan back in 2002, here's a few extra facts I love about the film: *Legendary Disney "Genie" animator Eric Goldberg was the animation director for this film, along with the voice of Marvin the Martian *This was Jerry Goldsmith's last orchestral soundtrack and hearing modern renditions of Friz Freleng and Carl Stalling's music is *chef's 💋. -Speaking of which, the *best* track for this film is #10 Thin Air, which is a superb rock version of Raymond Scott's Powerhouse. *The film also utilizes a good number of practical effects (exploding card tables, fire extinguishers, etc) for the film. They built an entire WB water tower and batmobile just so they could drive the two into each other.

This was a great video Kiki! I always remembered liking this movie as a kid, and then for some reason I just stopped? I'm pretty sure it was like you said, where I had people in my life tell me that it sucked (although I don't think they compared it to Space Jam loll), so eventually I just started to believe them since I had no means to rewatch it. But hearing you talk about it reminded me how much I used to like it, and that it's ok to like and love movies that others deem awful. Anyhow, always good to see you uploading and always looking forward to what comes next

I LOVED this movie as a kid. I rewatched it a while ago and I still loved it now. it’s obviously no masterpiece but I’ve never understood the immense hate for it yet love for space jam when it’s (in my opinion) much worse and doesn’t hold up today

I personally believe this is the best movie centered on the Looney Tunes franchise (I specify that since Who Framed Roger Rabbit featured cameos of Looney Tunes characters, but wasn’t directly tied to the franchise). The video game is also one that I hold dear as having fond memories I had with playing it as a kid.

Great video! This was my absolute favorite movie as a kid, I went through an entire Looney Tunes phase because of it. Watching it years later as an adult, I still think it's great. I'm tired of people thinking it's just "another Space Jam"! It's so much more than that. Side note, apparently in early drafts of the script, when the water tower fell over, the Warner Siblings from Animaniacs were supposed to appear! Instead, we got a Finding Nemo joke. Oh well.

Anytime I see people talk about this movie it’s in regard to Brendan Fraser and how it was like around when he declining and everything which always made me a bit upset because it was the first movie I saw as a kid with him in it since I was a kid when it came out and I loved him in this movie. Like him ranting to daffy about Brendan Fraser kills me today

This movie is awesome and it is a shame it isn't talked about more. It has lots of really good jokes and I love the look of the animation and the sets. Brendan Fraser was a perfect choice as the guy to have interact with the Looney Tunes characters. The recent Chip n Dale movie reminded me a lot of it and I really enjoyed that movie too.
