I think that Testament, Bolt Thrower, Carnifex, Dark Tranquillity, and the Melvins are all rated accordingly as they are rightfully praised and legendary in their respective subgenres. I do agree though that Zombieshark is underrated. I Will Destroy You, Myself, and Everything I've Ever Loved is an amazing cybergrind album.

Even though their sophomore album is considered to be one of the greatest pieces of death metal ever made, I still think Cryptopsy is hella underrated. Every extreme metal enthusiast at least knows of their album None So Vile, but that's it. An album by them that I think is completely underrated, is Whisper Supremacy. I love that album to death, especially because it is Cryptopsy at their most technically insane (that or Once Was Not). Another underrated band would be Dragged Into Sunlight, for almost obvious reasons. On the brutal death side, I would say the genre as a whole is genuinely underrated, especially when you dive deeper into it, such as bands like Ossuary (their Fat demo is visceral), Hidden Pride, and Rotting. Black Tongue is an underrated deathcore band, and it's criminal, because that band is heavy as FUCK. Also, a random ass one man project, is Massacred. They do Mortician better than Mortician, listen to Massacred. Anyway, that's my tangent

Intronaut: my favorite band of all time. Barely any one has heard of them and its a shame. They make a really good blend of prog and post sludge with a lot of good jazzy parts. Pallbearer: One of the best and most catchy doom bands out today, their new album is awesome. Wilderun: One of the best bands ive seen live they make orchestral melodeath with folky parts and occasional influence from black metal The band fulci makes some really great death metal (programmed drums i think which kinda sucks but wow are those riffs great) Agree on your takes (especially testament and the melvins)

I would say probably my underrated picks would include bands such as the following: Diamond Construct: An Australian nu-metalcore band that mixes a lot of synth-y and trance-y production, turntables, the works. Their album released this year has been one of my favorites so far. The Red Chord: My goodness, in so many ways these guys were ahead of their time (Fun Fact: You can find a tour poster of theirs featuring Bring Me the Horizon as a supporting act back in the day, and I'm pretty sure the This Is What The Edge of Your Seat Was Made For EP was partially inspired by The Red Chord's debut album Fused Together in Revolving Doors). Deathgrind and deathcore-wise, they've been one of the most solid of the earliest deathcore era, alongside The Acacia Strain. Speaking of... The Acacia Strain: They basically seem to me like one of the godfathers of deathcore, especially from the influential 3750. Not only that, but they've kept innovating their sound throughout the years across all their many records, adding in doom metal influences, atmosphere, you name it! Trash Panda: A deathgrind band from Florida. It's subject matter? Raccoons. Specifically a somewhat dystopian trashy realm full of raccoons and filth... can you see why I think they're underrated? I could go on, but this list would start to get somewhat long if I did that.

Second Melvins, I had a luck of getting into them early, so they I think contributed to my ability to open myself to other genres besides metal, also watched Tetsuo The Iron Man because someone used it for fan video for their song Pink Bat, wchich made me appreciate japanese cinema outside anime Speaking of Japan… Boris, band named after a Melvis song that truly fullfills this role as their offspring band, with just as maniacally steady release schedule if not more, while somehow still maintaining the quality Also second Zombieshark!, he should be up there with Igorrr in terms of popularity my pick for underrated would be Machine Head, Rage and Autopsy

Great vid...I'll take this opportunity to list of some of my favs, that I think are underrated Thulcandra (Melo Black), Stormruler (Melo Black with medieval themes/synths), Blood Red Throne (Death Metal), Skeletal Remains (Death Metal) Thulcandra is just kind of a regular Melo Black Band, but I still love them Stormruler is really fucking unique and "A Malice Dead & Cold" has to be one of my favourite songs ever (Sacred Rites and Black Magick in general is really good) Skeletal Remains and Blood Red Throne are also just regular Death Metal bands (tho Blood Red Throne has some Black Metal influence I heard), but I just really love them idk (and yes I do think they're better than a lot of popular Death Metal bands) Edit: I have to mention both Condra (Melo Black) and Exocrine (Tech Death) here. I wasn't planning to mention them at first, but I changed my mind Edit 2: I also forgot Lebenssucht (DSBM band)

Holyarrow- really solid epic black metal from China with heavy metal influence. Genuinely don't understand how they're still so obscure. Vicarivs Filii Dei- I've never heard anything in black metal like their album Non Cogitant Sed Tamen Sunt. It feels like something that would've been made if black metal had existed during the Romantic period. The Ruins of Beverast- not as underrated or unknown as the others, but after listening to the whole discography knowing that everything is composed and performed by one person, I'm fully convinced that Alexander Von Meilenwald is a musical genius. Critically praised and has a decent following, but I rarely see them mentioned.

No band will ever be as underrated as Manilla Road were. If they were better at business and had a more mainstream production (which might have ruined em) they'd have been up there with Manowar and the greats. Also gonna throw out Cirith Ungol, Visigoth, Sumerlands, Crypt Sermon, the NWOTHM movement as a whole I guess is very very underrated. And that whole epic metal renaissance mainly comes from the influence of Mark Shelton and Manilla Road! They were truly the kings of the underground.. you know Candlemass wouldn't exist without them either? Mark was in the Black Dragon office when Leif sent in the first demo and they were signed by his recommendation. So so much of the non-extreme side of metal is held up by those Wichita legends. Also, PAGAN ALTAR, anybody? Greatest doom band of all time. Just sayin.

I’d say that Riot are very underrated. They were one of the first American Metal bands, and they made a lot of amazing albums, but they never got big mostly because of bad management and a lot of lineup changes. Also, I’m not sure if they count as Metal, but UFO are underrated, since they were highly influential and especially when Michael Schenker was their guitarist, yet for some reason, they’re not as appreciated as bands such as Deep Purple, Scorpions or Black Sabbath…

KEN Mode, I just discovered them back in 2022 and knowing they existed since the late 1990’s and have a CRIMINALLY CONSISTENT DISCOGRAPHY from their early works like Reprisal and Venerable to their recent sister albums “NULL” and “VOID” and still trying to shape things up with their sound baffles me how they’re still pretty much underrated. Not to mention these guys are running businesses to keep their band afloat and that Jesse is a really cool dude as I have talked with him for advice on getting into guitar and he’s chill from the minor talks we have. VOID was one of my albums of 2023 as its a nice contrast to the more blunt and barbaric sound of previous NULL and it showed more dynamics with the inclusion of their new member. Even if they are still rather more famous, it seems like not a lot of people talk about them and that sucks.
