so confirming this since an example was not given ... If a player attacks an ally, does the opponent gain priority, if they do not have a capacity to defend our d-react for the ally?
@dubzNA
@dubzNA Жыл бұрын
After the attack is declared there is a priority window for your opponent to play only instants before it resolves.
@DiceCommando
@DiceCommando Жыл бұрын
Your opponent always gets a priority window after a game-action (meaning, playing a card, activating an ability, etc.) or before moving to next phases.

So, as a new player, (playing for 3 weeks now) this video was very helpful. I was wondering if you have any videos on the timing of players playing cards and attacking during your turn? Such as Iyslander.
@DiceCommando
@DiceCommando Жыл бұрын
I don't have one specifically for what you're asking for; as that's pretty specific case and general at same time. Covering all 'instant windows' would be a pretty complicated video, actually. What's important to understand re: what (I think) your question is, is that your opponent always gets a priority window after a game-action (meaning, playing a card, activating an ability, etc.) or before moving to next phases. That includes when you play a card, they get an opportunity to "instant" before that card hits the table. Blinding Beam is a good example. If you opponent defends with a 6+ attack to pop a phantasm, there is a window to play that instant (Blinding Beam) before the defending card resolves; thus changing it's attack value. Same works for Iyslander. When you attack, she can instant before your attack enters the chain; thus the ability to "Kill you" before your attack kills her.

Thank you for this video. I am just getting into FaB and this was really helpful. I do have a question about the End Phase though. This might have been added after the video was made, but the Comprehensive Rules state "4.4.3a All allies’ life totals are reset to their base life, modified by any counters on the object." Does this mean that any ally who's life did not go to 0 will recover all it's life? So Dominia in your examples would go back to 4 HP if the attack didn't do 4+ damage to her? Or am I completely misreading that?
@DiceCommando
@DiceCommando 2 ай бұрын
Yes, think of it like MTG or any similar, where damage dealt "to creatures" (or in this case allies) resets. if your 4 health ally doesn't die, next time they have 4 health.

Still confused about when allies die in case they are blocked. Not at all? When the damage of the blocking card is as high as their life? Or only when damage of the blocking card is higher than 6?
@andrewheintz5884
@andrewheintz5884 Жыл бұрын
Ah I can see the confusion. So the fact that dragons "pop" (are destroyed) when defended by a 6atk or more is due to them having Phantasm. Not being allies. They gain phantasm due to being converted from Ash. Recommend checking out Phastasm on the rules for more info. There are allies that don't have phantasm, and they do not die when blocked by a 6+. Hope that helps!

I may have missed it but, if a hero is being attacked, can an ally be used as defense object?
@DiceCommando
@DiceCommando Жыл бұрын
No, it cannot. Once on the table/in play, the ally becomes it's own object. Do note, though, that the 'invoke' cards can be used to block (from hand) as they are simple action card. But once you play it and they become a dragon, then they are that ally.
@Rosaslav
@Rosaslav Жыл бұрын
How does it work in relation to combat chain and action point, when I attack with an ally? Does ally have its own action point or does it use yours? Can ally attack be part of your combat chain? Lets say 3rd chain link in your 4 step attack chain?
@DiceCommando
@DiceCommando Жыл бұрын
Action points are universal. Think about it this way - if allies had their own action point, then what would be the point of Dromai's weapon (which gives them go again)? And yes, they are all part of the combat chain. Ravenous rabble into an ashwing, makes ashwing link 2. If you do another attack after that, regardless of source, it's chain link 3.

Just to double check because I'm like, 99% I'm right on this - Cards without a defense value can't ever be used to block, therefore, you can never use an ally as if they were defending your hero if your hero is the target of the attack. Is that correct? I ran into some people that are saying that allies can be used to defend your hero if your hero is attacked, so I just wanna make sure that's not the case. (I.E. I attack Dromai for 3, she can't use dragon tokens to "defend" that 3 damage for her).
@DiceCommando
@DiceCommando 10 ай бұрын
I think maybe they are referring to the double-sided cards. The dragons, for example, defend for 3 on their non-attack side. Once they are played as a dragon, they can't defend.

Does exceeding damage when attacking an ally goes to the hero's health or no??

@@DiceCommando I found this video after trying to figure out how one of the demon ally tokens from dusk till dawn was put into play. Im a new player who opened a Nasreth recently. After checking the card database, I found out it was a token put into play from the card Oblivion. Also, the token has a regular card back. But thanks for the heads up! If I open any of the dragon ally tokens, I'll be sure to check the back like you said!
