thanks so much man. very simple explanation. so every guard you move up by must start off closed, then open, then move to the next guard closed, open, so on and so forth? and the 0 or 1/16th is for blending right under the closed 1/8th.

Thank you so very much. I needed this video. You truly know your craft. I can cut any type of hair. I found that "whal" clippers don't work very well on really kinky type hair for bald fades. I like the "Andis Masters" a whole better for a bald fade. Do you use any of "Nas" the rappers line of clippers? If so how do you like them?
@89sGift5 жыл бұрын
thank you for watching. from my experience i actually like whal clippers for more kinky hair... i just think the andis double magnet guards work better than the whal guards on that type of hair so i can definitely see why you would prefer your masters. and no ive never used nas clippers. may have to look into it.

If the open guard is the same as the closed guard above it, why would there be a faint line, as you describe it, between the two? If they’re identical, what’s causing the difference? Eg. Open 0 to a closed 1, you said you need the 1/2 guard to blend - but why?

Thanks for the video, 1 question I had, is a open guard #1 the same size as a closed guard #2? or is the closed guard number 2 a bit longer?
@89sGift7 жыл бұрын
Matthew Saldana well it depends what guards u are using. For the sake of keeping it simple, the double mag guards go right in order. The #1 open is a bit smaller than the #2 closed. That way u can blend into it almost perfectly. That's on a basic level. You'll see eventually that u can use different techniques to blend. But essentially yes the 1 open is smaller. But not by much.

do you know if those magnetic guards fit on the andis barber combo clippers?
@89sGift6 жыл бұрын
Abraham Robles I believe the combo comes with the andis envy if I’m correct. The double magnet guards will not fit but the single magnet guards will.
@alexandersandino19884 жыл бұрын
At 5:10 when you say it opens all the way up to a 1 then why at 6:08 when you put on the 1 guard with lever all the way open say it’s 1.5 ? Wouldn’t a 1 lever all the way open equal to a 2 guard ? I’m assuming that you get the 1.5 if you use the lever half way open instead ?

Bro, the no 1 to no 2 guard on andis single magnet can you blend it with Wahl 3/16 as we know that andis didn't made that on their single magnet.
@89sGift8 жыл бұрын
So basically you're repeating what I said. The single mag guard #1 DOES NOT blend into the #2. On the other hand the double mag guards blend right in order.

I have a wahl and I don’t understand what a 0 is the lowest is the half guard is that the 0 If so whenever I use it let’s say for a taper it says use a 0 closed to take out middle line I do that and it Creates a whole other Guidline And brings the line up And if i do it open it just softens the line it doesn’t take out the line even if I play with the lever pls help
@nazarethproductions70955 жыл бұрын
Alex Maya the 0 level fully closed with no guard, is used to take out the line between the the trimmers or shaver. The 0 guard also known as 1/2 guard in wahl is used to take out the line between the 1 open and the no guard lever all the way open. When using the 1/2 guard start with it open and slowly close it while keeping in mind how much it’s cutting. You will know if you need to close the level more or open it fully. Learn to Play with the lever, it will help you a a lot when fading.

what you think about those speedo gaurds in combination with the senior. that number one should blend right into that 0 red speedo gaurd right?
@89sGift8 жыл бұрын
Yes I use the speedos often. But yes the wahl #1 shud blend into the 0 speedo guard. The 0 speedo is equivalent to the wahl 3/16 or the white guard between the #1 and 2 guard in the video.

Hi! Can I ask u? I have Wahl Icon clipper and I have 1 question: no guard open (3,5mm) is longer than 1# closed (3mm) that is what papers said or is it the same ? . Thanks for response! And this video help me a lot man
@89sGift7 жыл бұрын
Duymi honestly I never pay attention to the measurements. In this video this is simply a basic way to learn to fade using guards. But.. from my experience, the clipper with no guard open, is shorter than a 1 guard closed. I've never seen where just the blade open cuts longer than the clipper with a 1 guard. I wouldn't pay attention to the charts because all guards do not cut the same amount and all charts do not reflect true measurements.
@duymi67007 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot! I have the same feel about it but I was confused a bit. Everything is clear for me now!

@harryzed90907 жыл бұрын
Hey can u explain this to me? I've got a Wahl Legend clipper and in several tutorials the barber fades down from a #2 Closed to a 1.5 open, 'because a #1.5 open is right under a #2 closed.' But here is the thing: My wahl legend is closed 0.5mm and open 2.9mm. So i'm like a #2 closed = 0.5 + 6 = 6.5 mm and a #1.5 open = 4.5 + 2.9 = 7.5 which is longer instead of a bit shorter. Somewhere i'm not understanding this properly, can you or somebody explain where i'm missing something?
@89sGift7 жыл бұрын
harry zed the way I explained in the video is a bery BASIC way of fading. More than likely you will need to do some cleanup work after using this method. All it really is, is improvising and reading the hair. If the 1.5 open is still a little too long, just close it a bit until it cuts to your desired length.
@harryzed90907 жыл бұрын
89s Gift hey man thx for your reaction. i see what u mean and yup unfortunately i have to do quite some cleaning up since im not very experienced. however my calculations still dont Make sense. Can you take a look where i calculate it wrong ?

@coachsnacs7 жыл бұрын
Your Wahl Legend opens up more like a Andis Master, so therefore you have the cleanup to do. If you were using say a Wahl Senior it would work out better.
@harryzed90907 жыл бұрын
If i just open the Wahl Legend a little bit less, it shouldn't make a difference.

and to make sure should I use a no guard and the thing lever or w-e totally closed down (longer #0) or #1 and totally open? (shorter #1)
@89sGift8 жыл бұрын
+Simply The Best well if I'm understanding u correct, the 0 guard will blend into the 1. 0 must b open and 1 must be closed. Once u get the hang of that u can adjust the lever accordingly to detail your fade more.

@SoloACE884 жыл бұрын
He said the 1 1/2 has to be all the way open to properly blend into the 2 guard but since it is only a half size down you should only have to open your clipper halfway to meet with the 2 guard depending on whether you’re using a standard taper blade or a surgical fade blade

Thanks man ! I understand all that, and my fades are clean from no guard to my #1 guard. But I can't fade my #1 to my #2. (I'm using the Andis US pro) I tried with a 3/16 speed-o guard, but the line is still here. I don't understand why
@89sGift7 жыл бұрын
Florent béline if the line is still there after using your 3/16, make sure you close your 3/16 little by little to see if the line will fade. If it still doesn't take that line out, go back to your 1 guard all the open or maybe even close it just a little and use the corner of ur blade that shud fade it out completely.
