I was in Greenville last year and really enjoyed Greer. Small town feel of which I miss here in NJ. The state and area I grew up in has been ruined and will never be the same. I understand that people from SC are feeling unwanted changes, but times are changing. But I am someone who wants to live in Greer and I hope it remains the way it's been. I love the small town feel, the overall charming feel that residents have to offer! I'm looking for that, with peace and quiet, and lower cost of living.

I find this so fascinating. I’m a indigenous member of society from Greer. My Nanny was the first woman of color in the city with a drivers license. Can’t believe people are talking about my small town. Go jackets always!!!

Pro lots of churches with really good kids programs and involved in the community. Con since it has grown so fast, the infrastructure has not kept up. More power outages, traffic jams than what it used to be. Pro water quality ~110ppm.

I think their growth takes away from what makes it what it is. Used to live in Greer and have moved. The traffic now is starting to remind me of the city I moved from years ago.

Nice town. Part of Greer is in Greenville county and some part is in Spartanburg county!

Great video! I live here and even I learned a couple things! If you haven't posted a video about it yet, another area to consider may be Woodruff. It's not quite as developed as Greer is currently, but with BMW's announcement of a new battery assembly facility in Woodruff, there will be plenty of new jobs and potentially more investment into the city. The neighborhoods are already popping up, and it may appeal to anyone looking for a more rural landscape. I am very interested to see what the future will bring for Woodruff

You do realize that the Upstate area in South Carolina is about 200 miles inland from the coast, right? So there are no hurricanes in the Upstate area...... just a bit of extra rain.

My family will be there this summer. My husband's job has us moving from Georgia. We've decided to rent for a year to get a feel for where we want to buy, plus we're selling our home & not eager to buy in the current market. That said, do you have any references for looking for a home to rent; that isn't the cookie cutter homes on top of each other???? We aren't fans of looking out the window & seeing into someone else's.

Another reason is that it is located near Greenville, South Carolina which is a growing city with many cultural and entertainment options, and it is also located near the Blue Ridge Mountains which offer outdoor activities and natural beauty. Overall, Greer is a place that has a good balance of quiet living and access to city amenities, which makes it an attractive place for retirees. We are looking to move to Greenville area. Where are the best areas to live where you get some great views of the mountains as in Greer?

Good question! Some areas in Travelers Rest, Greer, Taylors, Tigerville, Inman, Campobello and Landrum, as well as nearby Pickens, all have areas in the edge of the higher elevations with some mountain views. I believe the sunsets are even prettier in these areas!

Loved your video. What are the nearest mountains to Greer? I currently live in Tucson, AZ. I love the beauty of the mountains, but summers are like a Turkish sauna, traffic and crime is awful. I read that Greer, SC was good for Senior retirees. Where can I get more information on the area? Thank you.

Hi Harrison! Absolutely! Talk to Ben at Benchmark Bicycle Supply Company in downtown Greer... they have group rides weekly, and also . Also there are several cycling groups that ride weekly in the area... I'm not a fan of cycling solo, so group rides are the way to go. We are losing the small town feel fast. 😢 the traffic is bad and the roads can't handle it. They are tearing down the woods and instead of the beautiful deer and wild turkeys we have bobcats and bears.

I married a girl from Greer about 50 years ago, and lived there 2-3 years. My son was born there, but that hospital is no longer there. After retiring, I often play tennis in Greer, but pickleball is growing and Greer has some excellent courts.. It has changed a lot and seems to be very much like you describe it.

Downtown Greenville is lovely..... if you can look beyond the fact that within a 2 mile radius around downtown Greenville you will find street after street of run-down tiny homes and shanties, eg. Nicholtown, Judson, Dunean, Park Place (check out 210 3rd Ave in Google Streetview), West Greenville, etc.. These are the chain-link/pitbull neighborhoods that are NOT shown in the promotional videos for Greenville, yet these neighborhoods are in very close proximity to downtown Greenville. Unlike in New England where you drive past bucolic rolling pastures and horse farms and then arrive in a charming downtown area of a village with beautiful tree-lined neighborhood streets, in the Greenville area there are run-down depressed shanty neighborhoods all around the downtown area. This could be tolerable except for the fact that you pay as much for a nice home in Greenville down the road from shanty-ville as you pay in New England.
