A very festive weekly vlog from your resident Durham University vlogger in the run up to Christmas! This week I went ice skating, ate Christmas dinner, saw snow, made Christmas tree crumpets, and even wrote an essay after coming back from a nightclub. Hearing you talk so highly about university makes exited but also scared to finally go to university, like, what if I don’t like the course I’m taking? What if I waste all of my mom’s money? It scared me a lot, my dream university is a private one, in New York (I’m Portuguese, so it’s not something that’s very common) and I’m just so nervous

just remember there are so so so so many options, and you'll definitely find the perfect place / course for you! just be open-minded; Durham wasn't my initial first choice but it's turned out to be the perfect place for me!

I LOVE IT! Towards the end of term I was ready to go home for sure (I hadn't seen my family for 11 weeks!), but I wouldn't say homesick as such. I think it's such a personal thing though - for me, I have never really felt homesickness before but I know quite a few of my uni friends who went home for the weekend several times. Once you surround yourself with lovely new friends and get stuck in with uni life it's definitely manageable though. Definitely don't let it put you off!

This year I read on average 5 poems, one novel, one play, one/two (long) Old English poems, one/two books from the Bible, and a chapter of a textbook each week, as well as critical articles and tutorial notes etc. Merry Christmas to you too!

Argh! Got my Christmas fix for this year out of this vlog. At med school, our exam period is from dec 18th-jan 18th. I'm dying because I have exams on Boxing day and the day after New Year's... Soak your dishes for like 30 seconds, it makes things so much easier (for future ref.!) That swear word book I need so so much!!!!!!! Dying. Love you always ♡
