110% agree. Kudos to those who strive to maintain proper hygene of their media. EDIT: For those who don't, It's one thing for a person to live amongst their own squalor but to unwittingly expose it to others is what I definitely consider outrageously offensive.

I've had plenty of people say their tapes are in great condition, only for them to drop them in, and I immediately show them the visible mould in the window of the cassette.

Hi, I have an old video tape. It shows a video but disappears. What is the solution?

Try it in another player to make sure it’s not the tape. Shelf life of video tape is 5-10 years IF stored in AC, if it’s been left in the heat, probably ruined.

@@gotmemories It is 21 years old and it has been stored in the closet for all that time, but when I turn it on, it works and intermittently, the video appears for a minute, then disappears, and does it again.

New question for you: I got my HDV Mini DV camcorder to play and the picture and sound is fine, but when I rewind, it makes a loud clicking noise as it rewinds. I stopped it immediately, and have another camera with which I can rewind my tapes, but might there be a remedy? Thanks!
