For snipers and snow rangers, don't miss that their built-in true strike means there's no downside to having an ally Gambler's Coin them. The added damage/crit is great, and true strike counters the -50% accuracy. For elven archers, their hybrid damage is really handy, too, against armored foes. But the fact that they have high initiative plus the witch's mystic conferral except as an active ability really pairs extremely well with... basically any big attack. While Gambler's Coin or Seargent's 100% crit are limited, the fast elven archer can toss on +50 magic potency damage the round before, turning glacial rain into something extra devastating. There's not really a bad group to use them for, much like with elven fencers. A neat interaction with arbalesters is when you pair them with the valkyra. The valk's start of combat ability adds 50% guard chance to the team, plus higher defense. That moves the arbalester up to 100% guard rate with their great shield, making them a lot heartier. (And as you said, their row heal triggers the elven archers' full party heal.) Since a valk is all about being a heavy armored tank... without actually triggering attacks that punch through armored as she's not classified that way... arbalester in the front row pairs nicely with her. Arbalester has the great shield without being classified as armored. I tossed two feathershield tanks in the front row with a back row of all featherbows since I love angels and archer, and then tossed that bow that gives flying units a ton of extra damage on one and the ring that makes them immune to blind on another, set to only trigger when angels were around. They're basically a flying archer unit that absolutely murders other archers with blind... and is immune to blind themselves, letting them take down enemy featherbows. That bow that grants an entire row of flying units +damage (combined with their abilities reducing enemy defenses further) makes them surprisingly deadly in groups. Plus aerial pursuits and perhaps pursuit on your featherswords, and this group went from a meme build to one of my strongest units. Blind is also notable because it's not just that it makes a row miss their next attack, but it counters truestrike. Sniper groups should murder 2 featherswords + 3 featherbows easily. Double damage vs. flying, true strike, etc. But unlike evade abilities, blind stops true strike, and since it triggers as the attack goes off, healers often don't cleanse it. Heck, with blind, you might be able to run five featherbows and be safe. Then you'd get a max archery assist. On that topic, an arbalester/shieldmaiden with offense+offense growth type hits the very hardest for ranged assists as leader. I know we all like hearing Yunifi or Ridiel as leader, but an arbalester's incredibly high damage is a sight to behold on Teazy Mode for assists. Mostly, I just like that whereas it's hard to find a way to make a max healing assist group (only Eltoinde deals damage as a heal assist), and a little tougher to have a magic assist group that defeats all foes (Rosalinde + Elven Fencers boost magic assists, though an offense+offense warlock as lead is highest damage), the all archery assist group builds itself. Snow ranger + arbalester in the front row. Sniper, elven archer, featherbow in the back. Or replace the featherbow with someone who can use a tome. Fire time + glacial rain means even if a frozen person defrosts, the fire might finish them off. Yunifi is basically what Arcyelle was in the PSP and PS1 versions of Tactics Ogre: the overpowered archer character. Snow Maiden Yunifi == Thunder Maiden Arcyelle. And I love to see it.

ooh that is cool that you can teach archery! :) I had a combo that worked for a while, which was. Two Elven Archers Cleric & Sniper. and the fact that this team was able to wreck so many things was just hilarious - mostly because it was more of a "guh i just need to send out someone for "Arrow Rain, okay you 4 GO!!" - and then boom. they woke up and chose violence.. And due to how Elven archers work. (if they get healed, they get healed) - they never really got hurt. man i love this game. [so glad i found your channel] :) thanks for the videos!

I found a surprising amount of use out of a Thief Cloak Arrow Rain guy. Also, holy crap Yunifi is unreasonable 😂

Yeah, the problem with charged moves is that you stop dodging while charging and cannot use passives and in the case of flying units you actually land on the ground, making you susceptipble to ground based attacks. If you want to use them, you better have someone that can protect them for a round of combat reliably.

Ranged assist damage on a squad of 5 archers is insane, but I prefer to only use 4 and then add a Witch so they can teleport to towers. It really gives you flexibility once a battle is underway and you have valor points.

Running through my first playthrough, I think I ended up putting an elven archer on almost every unit I fielded. Debuff immunity and twin freeze are SO valuable in the late game, and before level 30 mystic conferral is like a better witch if you've got a unit built around a single hypercarry.

I don't know if it's been suggested before, but I had a thought of a "start-of-battle limited skills" tier list. There's so many that are useful but you're limited to one per squad in a sense so I'd love to see a video about exclusively start-of-battle limited skills PS: There's a mistranslation for Featherbows' Photon Arrow. It DOESN'T apply Passive Seal, but Guard Seal. I noticed many otger skills have something like this, like Gryphon Master's Aero Strike (it says it reduces the user's AP but it's the enemies') and Thieves' Active Steal (the game says it steals all the AP but it only steals one)

Not being an instructor, but was in the archery club of the school for half a year. Sadly job training demanded too much and after returning home sadly i found no archery clubs nearby... But yeah, i love Archer units. And when i saw that request last video i wanted to give tips as well, but YT deleted my comment....But wow, you are fast with the video. Also small tip, slot a Sniper (or Yunifi) initative wise between a Werefox and a Werewolf. Easy pursuit chain of Werefox active attack into Weakness Hunter into Pursuit/Snow-white Pursuit into Pack Pursuit for a quick kill (unless the target is armored) and a potential extra one AP for your wolf to get going. Also i got the idea to ask if i may send you a voice recording of a unit guide i would make and all you have to do is edit teh footage around it. As much as i would love making unit guides myself, i have no capture card and am not sure if i want to invest in one just to lose interest after a while.....

Smoke bold alone is making Shield shooter worth alone. But still I think the best bow unit for me.

I like how in the mock battle you showed, you say "you can see them doing pretty damn well", but when you said that, the team had not done any damage. With everything either blocked or evaded or just straight up said "no damage"....... Yunifi even dies shortly after that too without having done much. Though yes, after a moment longer after you said that, finally there was a small bit of damage, then a big single hit that wiped out 3 of the targets at once. Allowing the win.

Have you made a video explaining how to use all the expensive coliseum accessories? I don't have any yet, but a guide on how to take advantage of, or set up a team with all those expensive 4pp items like (quick cast), (recast), (quick impetus) would be helpful. I know there are more, but those are the main ones I can remember.

With Elven Archers, I find that Spell Steel Bows significantly shore up their lesser damage weakness due to being hybrid bows that mostly raise magic atk. They put in most of their work in act 5 as the game’s definative hard counter to Feather Bows, one of the most annoying enemies in the game. Blinding Light is EXTREMELY buggy in its favor. The Sniper Amber Lens’ Hawk Eye ability and the Sword Master’s Hastened Strike ability despite being True Strike get blocked by blind. The Sorceress’ Focus Sight (another true sight move) ability works as intended against Blinded.

It is not a bug. Blind is "always misses" which takes priority over "always hits" that has priority over "always evades".

I run two squads with exactly the same units: 2 Shieldshooter, 2 snipers, and 1 Featherbow. It started more as a roleplay squad but they've been very effective. Especially for backrow heavy enemies, while my other squads are horse/flying mounted.

Ngl I initially ignored the Arbalists because I already had Rolf and a couple other Hunters, but by the time I promoted Liza to Shieldshooter, dang she’s been one of my fave units to splash on any team! The ability to heal while guarding allies, Heavy Bolt, Medical Aid, plus she can even dodge tank using the Mirage Greatshield, she’s freaking amazing!

Not to mention smoke bolt. The levels where they send a cluster of five mages or archery units to assist each other... just for one smoke bolt II to remove all enemy assists in a wide area... was just amazing. I know in SRPG/TRPGs, especially by Yasumi Matsuno, crossbow characters are supposed to be coded as evil and bad, but Unicorn Overlord is out here making me love a girl with a crossbow.

Yunifi is insane. I love putting the counter+ earring on her just to watch her destroy everything. Still love using shieldshooters for charge attacks tho. Them having a huge guard rate so they block just makes them so tanky.

I love the idea of a full archer unit but I’m still trying to figure out the best load out/equipment for every unit. I did give my elven archer the phantom bow for magic, and Rolf is sitting pretty with a dirty gambler’s coin to give Raenys (featherbow), Liza (Arbalist) and Yunifi a row wide Inspiration since everyone is already past 150+ accuracy and the debuff won’t hurt them. I think I might have to switch the elven archer to pure support for healing and give her the dirty gambler’s coin instead, I dunno.

As far as I can tell, Triple Counter only procs when Yunifi herself is the target of an attack, not when any enemy uses an active skill attack as the tooltip says. There are sadly a lot of typos and wrong tooltips in the game so I'm not certain if this is in fact a typo, a bug, or maybe just me setting up tactics wrong (though it's not limited so I don't know)

Yeah, Yunifi's triple counter is still overpowered, but it's pretty easy to run into issues where it doesn't trigger. On the one hand, frustrating. On the other... it's one passive point for 300 potency in damage.

Any skills that need to charge, I don't think should be in the front as during the 1 turn to charge, they wouldn't be able to dodge or guard. I suggest your setup change yunifi with the feather bow as the feather bow.

can we get a how to effectively use swordfighters like Leah, Melisandre, and Aramis, already found out the hard way that they don't play well with each other (only one gets to do a start of combat stab)

Until Titanium does it, let me give you a small abridged version. With Swordfighters you really have to decide, what you want them to do, since they only get two accesory slots and the physical attack modifier only counts the strongest attack of the two swords. I found out two possible consistent playstyles for them. 1. Front-line dodge tank: All you need for them is a Scarf, a Lapis Pendant (or Saphire pendant if you still want to use their first strike constantly) and the Sylphs Curse swords (the ones with the sonic boom ability) or the sword from the wind gate, since they have dodge stat on them. With that set-up their dodge stat is almost as high as a feathersword with the flying bonus calculated in. I recommend using their first strike passive only when thieves/scouts are present, since they have a high enouch chance to be killed that way and refund the one PP used. Then you just let them use their 2 AP Meteor Slash on a suitable target, let them use sharpen to get one AP back and you still should have one PP for parry, if one attack manages to hit. Use a fighter to protect them from ranged attacks they can`t parry. Also, if you want to use Sonic Boom, feel free to it gives your Swordmaster a nice option to snipe back-line. 2. Back line blade dancer: This one requires you to do a bit of treasure hunting in Drakenhold. The reason for this is the Dancers anklet that gives the Swords Dance ability, which costs 1 PP and increases your crit chance and critical dmg each time after an attack. The other major component is the Dancers Blade found in the hidden village in Drakenhold. This one gives you an attack that refunds its AP on a critical hit, but lowers the critical rate even if it doesn`t crit. Then you just bump up the crit rate as high as possible. Lindwyrms rapier (Leahs and Aramis starting blade) are an excellent second sword for this and a Lapis or Saphire Pendant for as much PP as possible round up the gear. For tactics you actually turn off first strike, since you need your PP primarily for Swords Dance and set Sharpen to only activate if you have 0 AP to use it as another shot, if you just don`t get lucky with crits. And you only use the Jump Slash from the Dancers blade and the finisher attack (Sidewinder was its name, if i remember correctly). The result is a unit that can stay active for quite a while, and sweep up every enemy unit remaining, when all other units AP are exhausted and the front line is removed. In general i recommend to use maximal 2 sword fighters in one given squad. They are duelists after all in a SRPG that doesn`t focus on units dueling.^^

Elven archer could actually do good damage if you give them a magic bow, i use ridiel with the Phantom Knight's bow, and she does good damage while debuffing enemy PP

I disagree that featherbows SHOULD be in the backline. They are an evade tank. You just touted their high evasion + flying which makes them one of the best tanks in the game. Shining light helps their squad survive longer. Combine with a wereowl's restore for more shining lights. I'd also disagree that elven archers are hard to fit in to any squad. Every squad needs a cleanser, especially in the mid-late game. Elven archers do that better than any other class in the game. This means every squad can use an elven archer, to say nothing of the healing and buffs they bring to the table. I actually wanted an elven archer on ALL of my squads but since theres only 3, i was forced to use weaker substitutes like scarlett with a purifier staff.

I only issue with this game is that my understanding of the units isn't completely necessary. I find TZ to be fairly easy, and there's no end game stuff to really really really cut your teeth on.

After watching your video on how to calculate assist damage my archer squad has been insane. Walked into Albion under leveled and the assist arrows usually kill off all flyers and leave unarmored units at super low life. My leader is just strait maxed out attack. She sucks in combat tho. But the rest of the unit can hold its own. It was the biggest game changer.
