This video was very helpful. I am so proud of myself for finding this video and then fixing my dead radio all without needing my husbands help! I made sure I showed our 4 children what the heck their Mother was up to! Thank you for making this video, I now offically have music back in the van. Whoop, whoop. :)

Sometimes knowledge is given and sometimes it is learned the hard way. Either way, we owe it to all those who live in our DNA to always try our best. You deserve an "I DID IT MY WAY" badge for doing what was required to get it done. Good on you and excellent example for your children. I always end a job by figuring how much I saved = paid myself, and you just paid yourself $150. Much continued success. Love from Chicago...

Perfect. You are a great you tuber my friend. These instructions worked perfectly on my 2009 double din ren radio. Besides being short to the point and accurate , you have a kind, clear radio voice.

Thank for watching. The radio I installed was a Double din Pioneer AVIC-Z130BT with GPS. When it first came out the head unit was over $1,200 USD, but you can get them for under $250 now. The harness kit worked like a dream and after bending those tabs the four side screws secured the unit without a problem. I know that most new head units are Andriod or Microsoft based and have new Bluetooth and wifi capabilities, but the Pioneer is dependable and has reliable GPS with traffic status. My only caution is that the radio area gets really hot when the climate controls are set to distribute heat. So, A good head unit is a must. A cheaper unit would not be able to handle the heat. TDI Love from Chicago.

It helped me out a lot as I had a stuck CD in the radio/player. So I used the video to get the radio/player out of the dash. As it turned out the gears were jammed, so I applied a little lube and put it all back together! Thanks again!

Good video, thanks. I think it is suggested you disconnect the negative battery terminal before working on any vehicle electronics. Some other comments said they did this for another reason and stereo did not work after reinstalling it. And make sure the termina is secured away from the battery, not just 1/2 inch away from the terminal. But check for your vehicle are there any stereo security codes, or any other issues. That will vary by vehicle. And you can avoid draining the battery if you are working on the vehicle and the doors are open for a long time. Also I think you will need to cut out that lower bar. I saw another video where the guy cut it out. A small plumber hack saw should work. But again double check that.

thanks man for the video. I have a question, after I removed the unit, and then remounted the Radio back, and it won't turn on after that. No clue what could have damaged, when I removed it and put it back. Any ideas?

Check your radio fuses and make sure that the wire did not get damaged on the four reatiner metal clips when you slid the radio back in. I switch my radio to a Panasonic Multimedia Navagation Head Unit. I still have the perfectly working oem unit removed in the video from my 2009 Chrysler Town and Country. From what I can see the oem radio does not have a fuse on the back of the radio itself. Hope that helps

Where did you get the wire harness. I’m having a problem finding one. And did you find out what that wire with the yellow connector is?
@GallowayChicago6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching I think this one might work, but you have to check to make sure: Town and Country Chrysler Double DIn kit with Harness from eBay (2009) www.ebay.com/itm/400403885092 (2012) www.ebay.com/itm/361504018538 . I take no responsibility for your use of this info. So, Look carefully and buy smart. Dood luck. Thr radio I added was a Pioneer AVIC-Z130BT with GPS. Excellent radio but kind of dated now, but GPS works all the time. Once again Good luck and stay safe during the new year. TDI Love from Chicago...

Still, don't know for sure about the yellow antenna because new Pioneer AVIC-Z130BT came with its own GPS antenna, but I still think it is the SAT antenna, If the Pioneer AVIC-Z130BT did not come with an antenna I would have researched further. You can be the one that lets everybody know what it is with 100% certainty. Thanks for watching. TDI Love from Chicago...

Thank for watching. There are two cables the "Power Supply/Speakers" and the "AV In and Out". I will list wires: (let me know if it helps) - Yellow Car Radio Battery Constant (always on 12v+) - White Front Left Positive (speaker) - White/black Front Left Neg (speaker)

Thanks for watching... The radio I installed was/is the Pioneer AVIC-Z130BT. It is classified as a double-din. The US standard for Double-DIN sized radio is a 7" x 4". Some radios in Japanese cars do not conform to the US DIN standard, but the Pioneer fits perfectly. I did the firmware updated and it removes the talk to text control feature. Which is a shame, but the GPS and map are often better then my expensive cell phone. Love from Chicago.

A Pioneer AVIC-Z130BT with Bluetooth, Touch Screen Navigation and DVD player. I will soon install the optional rear-view or back-up camera. All in all I really like the unit. It could be a little more responsive, but it is nice having all its functions in one unit. The optional OEM Chrysler Navigation unit is over $1200, but the Pioneer AVIC-Z130BT can be bought for as low as $350. I should have taken pictures of the completed installation but the focus of the video was not on advertising the A Pioneer AVIC-Z130BT. Instead I wanted to take the mystery out of removing your own radio. Last note of the Pioneer AVIC-Z130BT: I needed a wiring kit and mounting side face kit to complete the professional looking install. If you have any questions about the Pioneer AVIC-Z130BT or the Chrysler install I will be happy to assist. Thank for your time.

+GallowayChicago did the aftermarket wire harness kit come with a separate wire for power?
@GallowayChicago8 жыл бұрын
+Enrique Agos Almost all radios come with three power wires: (1) Main Power, (2) Ignition Power, & (3) illumination Power. On my install I believe I connected the Main & Ignition Power together. As a result the radio will not come on unless the ignition switch is in the on position and the van is running. The Illumination power controls the GPS screen contrast. I need to run this wire as well. I like the Pioneer AVIC-Z130BT. it fits the van very well and the start screen is customizable. I just installed the 2015 update (maps and firmware). Well worth the money to have accurate GPS and digital radio information for the FM stations that broadcast info. I will access the wiring soon to add the rear view camera option.
