The International Court of Justice (ICJ), the principal judicial organ of the United Nations, holds public hearings on the request for the indication of provisional measures and the modification of provisional measures previously prescribed by the Court submitted by South Africa on 10 May 2024 in the case concerning Application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in the Gaza Strip (South Africa v. Israel) on 16 and 17 May 2024, at the Peace Palace in The Hague, the seat of the Court. Session held under the presidency of Judge Nawaf Salam, President of the Court.
The State of Israel requested the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to reject the request for the modification and indication of provisional measures submitted by the Republic of South Africa.
The UN’s top Court in the Hague heard the oral argument from Israel today (17 May).
Gilad Noam, Co-Agent of Israel said, “Mr. President. Members of the Court. It is an honor to appear before you once again on behalf of the State of Israel. This case, even by its very name, the application of the convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in the Gaza Strip suggests an inversion of reality.”
Tamar Kaplan-Tourgeman,Co-Agent of Israel, said, “Mr. President. Members of the Court. It is an honor to appear before you on behalf of the State of Israel. If you've just heard, Israel is still under attack. We are still counting more and more of that and attending to thousands more who are wounded.”
The hearing came after the request for the indication/modification of provisional measures submitted by South Africa last week. The Court heard South Africa’s oral argument on Thursday (16 May).

@@David31567 they didn't reduce the numbers in half...they specified that 11000 victims cannot be properly identified, as some are pieces, the civil registry as the medical system were destroyed, doctors were murdered, and entire families were obliterated leaving no one that can properly identify them....and the numbers do not include 10000 + people trapped under tons of rubble...how dense can you be?

@@user-et8js8qc8y If we only count the 9,500 hostage detainees recorded so far by international organizations, there are 3,660 administrative detainees, arrested arbitrarily, without charge and without trial for months and years, most of them in retaliation and to threaten their families. . This administrative detention is a tactic used abusively and widely by the TSAHAL to indefinitely detain colonized people without charge or trial, placing them and their families in situations of psychological distress and helplessness. Being illegally arrested by Israeli military justice, the lawyers therefore have no way of defending them or accessing their legal files. Which means that a majority of these hostages have been languishing illegally for years in this pseudo-democratic colonial state!

Khalil Gibran, born 1883 in North Lebanon, an Arab brought up Maronite Christian but heavily influenced by Islam, Buddhism and spirituality. He recognized beauty in diversity of human thought and possibility. Ours is not Hate, it is Justice, perhaps you have not understood that information must always be respected, something that you have prevented in Gaza with the killing of hundreds of journalists! That alone is a serious crime! We want justice and know that the world does not hate Jews, but thinks that the Israeli government of Nettanyahu is murderous! We want the court to do its job properly and stop the slaughter in Gaza now! But above all, that you immediately force you to open the roads and let journalists in, we want you to come into Gaza to protect Palestinian civilians from your unjustified bombs that destroy hospitals and tent camps!
