I like how they treat the sequel more maturely in the sense that they tackle real life issues thrown at Ted like having kids or his identity. That realism makes him a lot more relatable and charming

What about Steven Universe? He's not a citizen of any kind from where he's raised in. He's below the radar because he has no birth certificate, social security, and never went to school unless he was properly educated from being homed schooled. As for the parents of their son: The father has spent much of his young adulthood being a bum musician and the mother is an alien race of some kind that gave up her life form for the baby as some kind of reverse abortion. They weren't even married or being official by the state as well.
