I guess one thing about landless, is that even if you are landed, it could spice up your game to be able to interact with various landless characters in your realm and around the world. If we are able to watch the rise and fall of various landless characters, it will still be a worthwhile system regardless of whether we ourselves ever actually play as landless.

Despite the three months of waiting, I am impatient to see the landless part.

7:00 something cool of note is that if you look in right side of the background it says “Decisions *& Contracts*” so it looks like they’re redoing the Mercenary system so we can truly get that 4th crusade feel.

Starting as a Landless character is the #1 thing I want out of this year.

The best candidates for Administrative governments are the Abbasid Caliphate (Arabian Empire), Seljik Empire (Persian Empire), and the Ayyibid Sultanate (Sultanate of Egypt or Arabian Empire). I'm guessing that the most basic requirement would be: Absolute Crown Authority

I just want the landless feature for the ck3 AGOT mod, it would make the mod even better now that dragons are coming out!

I think this DLC will push the game to the next level, new government, unlanded play, and Byzantine flavor is gonna be so good for the base game and total conversions. September 24th can not come soon enough

I look forward to make a Da Carrara campaign as Unlanded characters and then gain control over my hometown of Padua... dreaming of those places I lived and of an alternative story to play.

I really hope that the landless gameplay along with family estates paves the way for republic gameplay in the future. Paired with trade (hopefully sometime next year) we might finally be able to recreate Medici-type playthroughs!

I would like to see this new goverment form as a thing many countries can reach. Maybe having this with some Empires like Persia if strugle ends with formation of one or with Seljuks in 1200s start date

Hmm. I'm guessing that with the Administrative Goverment, that if you chose Administrative kingdom type in the royal court. That will let you have it.

They said somewhere that any empire can become an administrative empire via a rather difficult decision iirc

Actually the way of this Byzantine update can also be implemented to Chinese Empire to the east. Because they looks similar to each others.

Look at it this way; even if the dlc flops, modders will have the tools to go further than what Paradox might be willing to go. I love paradox, I love CK3, yes it has issues, yes it doesn’t feel complete, but it’s still a great strategy-rpg sim. The very idea of landless play, alone, pushes the limits of the amount of potential that this game now has. Not to mention all the amazing stories you can tell with your characters. I’m getting Last Kingdom vibes a little bit, but that’s besides the point💀 Personally, I think starting as a landless Norman lord and migrating to Nikaea or Dyrrachion and building your influence there sounds more appealing to me. In history, the Normans were natural enemies of Byzantium but they did have some level of influence over certain events that happened during their conflicts with the Romans. And the new start date too?? I’m just excited. At best, I think it’s going to feel like a brand new game entirely, if done right. And if not, we still have the modding community. Their talent is significantly undervalued.

Does this mean we can control baronies? are we getting the Athenian Acropolis? Im expecting them to add new historical landless characters, fingers crossed

They are Roman, they dont convert back to being Roman. Byzantine isa term invented by german historians to differentiate between the Roman period in antiquity and the medieval period, but it was also an attempt to remove the Roman identity from the Romans to enforce their own claim as the germans always were pretenders to the name. Byzantion was the greek town before Constantine the Great, Roman emperor, moved thr capital to Byzantion and tried to rename it Nova Roma(New Rome) but people called it the city of Constantine which in latin was Constantinople and in greek Konstantinoupolis. Though thr latin language faded away with the loss of their western possesuons and their old homeland of italia, the Romans continued to exist and develop but as the Romans are practical of nature the latin language was substituted with the greek. Romans had always spoken greek since the beginning and it was always the international language in the east, so it was in no way foreign to Romans, and we must remember that the different greek/hellenic city states and kingdoms never had a unified identity until they werw Romanized with centuries of Roman rule. So by the time of the western fall the greek speakers in the east was Roman.
