The Royal Marines and the British Parachute Regiment are not Europe but NATO's shock Troops. Get your head around that fact and what it means. Respect due I think.

St Nazaire was mainly Army Commandos not Royal Marines. Famous saying in the Royal Marines is the 7Ps (proper preparation and planning prevents piss poor performance).

@@sunrayisdown1690😂 Grow up???? I'm simply stating that Army Commandos were the originals, what alot of people don't realise. When people hear Commando,they presume Royal Marine Commandos,but Army Commandos were the original Commandos.

Goes back over 300 years ? No. The Royal Marines formally took the title of Commando in 1946.

It was 1942 mate the royal where awarded the commando Status and more units popped up in 1943 and where the only unit army navy or raf who kept this status after the 2nd world war , the old commando units are where the SAS where born from , but the Royal Marines goes back to 1664, which is why 1664 is plastered everywhere on marine camps , not sure where 1946 is from , I’ve never heard or read that date , war was well and truly over by then , could be wrong tho I’m a Royal Marines Commando and have been quite a while 👍, stay safe mate

@@Britishgundogtraining on 1802 the Duke of York and Albany's Maritime Regt of Fopt ,(The Admiral Regt) changed its name to the Royal Marines via King George Ii l in 1802. I was told that in Phase 1 but Sgt Ian Brand. It was also mentioned in a book by Capt Ian Gardener who was OC Xtay Coy, 45CdoRM burning Operation Corporate. Try googling it ! I am not substances contrary to Section 31 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971. 🤣. Watch your topknot.

@@sunrayisdown1690 they got the commando status in 1942 but the Royal Marines as a unit have been around since 1664. That’s why it’s pretty much the main one out of all 11 “key dates” within the corps

@@sunrayisdown1690yeah, case and point you. The royal marines existed long before this, the commando role was adopted by army and RM commandos in 42. Then the RM became the only commandos after the war.
