I have learned that breakfast is arbitrary. My great Aunt once told me that when she and my uncle married, they just ate the same thing they had for dinner the night before. I also like to see what other cultures eat for breakfast. It opens up loads of ideas.

Praying for your family, Mindy. Love your videos. My husband and I began eating two meals a day a couple months ago. We both have lost a few pounds that we really needed to lose since implementing this, and it saves some money too. I have just started delaying grocery trips to use more out of our pantry. Part of me has a fear of food shortages, so I get nervous if the pantry is too bare.

Morning Mindy!! I have been applying the " give the once or twice over and make use of what you currently have first". This has, over the last few weeks, stretched things out enough for use to make it to our next budgeted shopping session. Keep 'em coming you WONDERFUL lady you. My husband thinks I can see the Matrix with how I am budgeting and keeping meal plans in line.😂

I did this yesterday. We just got back from a week-long vacation. I did not shop the week before the trip and used all of the perishable items prior to our trip. I am going to use a lot of freezer and pantry items this week. Three weeks not grocery shopping will definitely help offset the cost of eating out during the trip.

I ate a BLT this morning for breakfast because it sounded good to me. In all honesty it two slices of toast, leftover bacon, 1 small garden tomatoe (that need to be used), mayo. [Was out of lettuce 😢] You know what....It was one of the best breakfasts I have had recently!! I always hate when people say specific food can only be eaten at specific times of day or seasons. Just like if I want pumkin pie for my birthday in April...you better believe I'm making a pumpkin pie for my birthday.

First of all GO BLUE! When I meal prep a following week, I look what is left for vegetables and make sure to use those up in a dinner or two. We typically don't have a lot of left overs. Just enough for 1 or 2 people for lunch the next day. I do however meal plan with left overs in mind when we have a busier week so I don't have to cook as much that next day. And that has helped with food waste too.

Such important and overlooked points! I'm getting better at checking fridge, freezer, and pantry before buying anything. Still have some waste/spoilage. It's way down over the last five years, and I keep a tally of the "value" of food I'm throwing out or composting. That makes inefficiencies clear as glass. This was a great garden year, so I've learned to can (water-bath) a fair amount and will start this week (Thursday) on a no-grocery or restaurant spending challenge. That will help me break the overfull fridge and cabinet cycle, so I can clear space and SEE what all options are. PS - Many friends and family members will receive gifts from the garden for Christmas. Everyone can use tasty fruits and vegetables, and none will end up on a shelf catching dust.

Thanks for talking a bit about the fact that a lot of people have to do grocery shopping on a particular day. I typically have to do my big shopping trips on Saturday or Sunday. It definitely takes some discipline, but I try to make myself use up what I already had on hand first before breaking into the new groceries. Yesterday's dinner was a bit of a use it up dinner, and tonight I made chicken noodle soup, which was still on my meal plan from last week.

I started with when we run out of milk or eggs then I will go. I keep a running list of ideas of what I can make with what's on hand. When I shop I do have a menu plan to supplement what I don't.

My monthly budget for 3 adults is $400. About $125 of it is meat and most of the rest is fresh produce. We cut our meat portions down about a third from what most of the recipes call for to stretch them further across the month. 2 times a week we go meatless and use other forms of protein like beans.

hubby and I are retired. and depending on the time of the month I may not use up the things I purchased . So before they go bad. I figure out what I can make with them. like last week we had Dr. appointments so we got home late (after dealing traffic) I didn't feel like cooking and didn't have enough time. I'm a diabetic so I try to eat dinner no later then a certain time. Any way I had all colors of peppers, zucchini, broccoli, mushrooms and some left over rice. I didn't have enough of them for anything. but put them together. I also found a package of egg roll wrappers. So we had veggies and rice spring rolls. they turned out great, I also have had small amounts of veggies that need to be used and I had taken out polish sausage and tossed them together. Hubby says he wouldn't mind both of the once or twice a month. hubby has had some trouble with his heart and also a pace maker. So you work with what you have. I'm lucky he isn't a picky eater.

That's a tough question because it's not an apples to apples comparison. I have a business that revolves around making food content, so our grocery budget is different than if it weren't my job to cook and make videos about it! :) 5 years ago, before I had a channel it was around 750, and that was with younger kids. With an inflation and their growth, I would say 1000-12000 would be a moderate budget for our family now, given the current prices in our area.

Ohmigosh!!! Mindy!!! Haaalllllp!! I need help!! A few weeks ago, I made ribs in my crock pot - ugh, and they burned. Still edible kind of burn, I didn’t need to put them under the broiler or on the grill for a char - if you know what I’m sayin’.😊 but!! It has taken me absolutely everything to get the burnt bits out of the corners of the pot. I have used baking soda/vinegar fizz; soaked over night, I have boiled water on high for 2 hours (and scraped and scraped) - which helped a lot! and, I have soaked in Dawn power wash. That bbq sauce I used, obviously had gorilla glue in it. Any suggestions on how to clean the crock pot so that future dinners don’t taste like burnt bbq??? Or should i just save the ache in the arms and get a new one?!?!

I love eating dinner leftovers for breakfast. Many times the leftovers are way healthier than common breakfast items loaded with sugars.

I've been skipping whole weeks of shopping unless there is a really good item on sale to stock up on. I'll meal plan for what we have in the fridge or freezer. It's nice not spending that extra $80-100 a week. ( 2 adults and a toddler here) I'm sure it was a difficult decision for your husband. God has other plans for where he said be. God bless

Noticed the devotionals in your video. Does your husband have any recommendations for a men’s devotional? Any suggestions is much appreciated. Best of luck to your husband in his next endeavor.

I think assuming that you will still spend $200 a shopping trip is a bit disingenuous. If you go longer without going to the store more staples will also be used up, upping that cost.

That's the whole point. To use up the odds and ends that would normally be missed, pushed to the back of the fridge and possibly wasted. She specifically says she doesn't empty her fridge. Then, yes you keep your normal budget the same. If you can't accomplish this, that's fine. She even talks about waiting a single day. I've been doing it for years. And it seems to work for the masses in the comments section.

If you scroll back a ways on my content page, you will find some "emergency meals" videos. These are meals I put together with shelf stable ingredients so they can be made if you have a heat source, but you don't have to keep the ingredients refrigerated. :)

Mindy I don't know where to post this question I hope you can help me with I tried on messenger on your fb page but I got a response in an Asian language I feel pretty certain that wasn't you 😂 I didn't want to make this public as it's embarrassing but here goes hi hoping I can pick your brain... Many issues I'm dealing with have led my house to it's current condition of needing serious cleaning help I know I need to tackle it and get past this mountain to move onto other things and I'm desperately wanting to do so but I need to work smart not hard and that takes the right tools. can you please help me by reccomending some dollar store cleaning supplies (that's my budget) and even that's a stretch. I have Family Dollar, Dollar General, and Dollar Tree store right around me. I also have Target and Walmart and Home Depot and Lowes if there's something at those non dollar stores that you don't have a dupe for, or you think is invaluable. I have two dogs so there's a lot of pet hair everywhere and layers of dust- this old house seems to generate a ton. My biggest issue is the shower it's a shower wrap and the walls in one area have crazy mold. I'd love something to kill and clean that and the tub itself maybe something on a pole so I don't kill my back but if not I'll make it work. I just want it clean. I also have a stove top that needs cleaned it's just a regular porcelain top old type stove not a flat pr glass top and there are spots that I've scrubbed with a scrubby sponge- really scrubbed w bleach and soap and won't budge. maybe a dupe for barkeepers? I tried looking at scrub daddy's but I got overwhelmed there's just so many different types I don't know what I need. I would also like to tackle my linoleum kitchen floor. I truly appreciate any help you can give me and God Bless you and your family.

Vinegar and water with a little dish soap makes a pretty good cleaner. Try to get a grease cutting soap. Also, dollar tree sells a pretty stiff toilet brush. That would work well to scrub the shower with.
