I am surprised people are referring this song as Urdu. It is properly Khadi Boli. In fact, the first word "Sakal" is from Sanskrit. The rest of the song has both verbs and vocabulary from Shauraseni Prakrit. Ameer Khusrao wrote extensively in Khadi Boli, Braj, Awadhi,

Urdu and Hindi both evolved out of Khadi Boli. In Amir Khusrau's time the language was just called "Hindvi".

Urdu is evolved from Prakrit - Brij bhasha, so its actually an earliest form of Urdu... after all Amir Khusrau isn't known as Father of Urdu for nothing

Well, the Meesha Shafi version is trippy and unique, but the instrumental solo felt more like Mia Malhar solo than Basant Bahar. If you really want to experience Basant Bahar, then listen to Ketki Gulab Juhi by Pt. Bhimsen Joshi & Manna Dey. It's amazing. I feel the coke Studio version has more aligned instrumental solo with Raga Basant Bahar than Meesha Shafi. So I would appreciate them more.😅😅 I like your review.

Singhar means "Saj Daj" (Sajna Sanwarna) And Singaar means (Sajawat) Both meaning Are the Same In Udru.. You need to Listen Jawad Ahmad's Old Song "Mehandi ki ye Raat".. Gori Karat "Singhaar".

I was initially put off by Meesha Shafi's version of Sakal Ban because it was off and "in your face." However, you have made me see this song in another light. Thank you. A singer must highlight the Tivra swara in this.

As far as I know, it was Vasant Panchami, typically goddess Saraswati is worshipped on that day and people wear yellow/mustard colour clothes. As far as I know, its not prevalent so much in North India now, but east India still celebrates it. If you visit any of the eastern cities like Kolkata you will see all the students and young people still wearing the yellow coloured traditional clothes and going around and yes Saraswati is worshipped in almost every home, school and college on that day.

Rizwan, Muazzam are very talented, Nephews of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan sahab. learnt all from their mamu the one and only NFAK, if we compare them with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, only thing they lack is knowledge of melody, otherwise they are no behind the things Rahat Knows and can do. being a wedding photography company, I've witnessed their live performances lots of times, and they never disappointed.

Khusro had mix race from Hindu & Muslim parents. He genuinely inherited both civilization in him and used it cleverly to make his poetry popular in both Muslims and Hindus. He neither hid his liking for Hindu culture and nor his Love For Nizamuddin Olia R.A. Khusro was a legend above Urdu and Sanskrit.❤

Bgai awaz kaise dagmagayegi, ye ustad hain.. its in their blood. They r the descendants of NUSRAT sahab... they have riyaz of a lifetime. The best version is the coke studio rizwan muazzam! Then i like the new heeramandi version. I like classical in its own way, it shudnt be too much pop.
