Ghulam Fareed was a 19th century Sufi poet, so your statement that the lyrics are not modern is absolutely correct. Also pabban is the front part of the foot. Par means leaning on.

Love the enthusiasm during your reaction. Kinda miss more classical elements and live instruments in the recent CS season PS: at 17:30 it's Jaffar Zaidi (of semi classical band Kaavish). He appeared in Previous CS seasons both as featured artist and musician (composer & director). Recently CS 15 released the 5th song o yaara, Kaavish is featured in it, again as a vocalist and composer/writer.

Lovely discussion ladies. Btw Kaavish is the name of the two person band consisting of Maaz Maudood and Jaffer Zaidi. Kaavish has performed as a band in previous Coke studio seasons, but Jaffer Zaidi was also a member of the Coke Studio house band. He was even background/backup singer on some songs.

so the first item they presented, the one ali sethi sang is actually composed and sung by The great Asad Amanat Ali(late), Shafqat Amanat Ali's elder brother. He was shining star of Patyala Gharana. a very big loss to the industry 💔 he was a true gem. I'd suggest everyone to listen one of his item "Ghar Wapas Jab Ao gy Tum" The other item Nabeel Shoukat Ali presented is actually by Allah Ditta Loony wala. Allah Ditta sahab was a very unique punjabi folk singer who created wonders in punjabi and saraiki language. very fine singer with lot of high note range. and what coke studio has done is beyond imagination 😍 at the end if we talk about the great ali sethi, he has become a genre himself, it's unbelievable for me how great singer he is while he doesn't come from a "gayik" family. nabeel shoukat ali is very good singer with very beautiful soft texture

Thoroughly enjoyed the reaction from you both. I would just like to make a few additions. Nabeel Shaukat Ali is a classically trained singer who won the show 'Sur Kshetra'. It was a musical show between singers from Pakistan & India. He sang Sonu Nigam's 'Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin' in the final to win the title. He also sang quite a few amazing songs in Coke Studio including 'Bewajah' and 'Mujh Se Pehli Si Muhabbat'. Kaavish is a band from Pakistan & the singer you are referring to is Jaffer Zaidi. He has composed quite a few songs in Coke Studio himself. If I may, since you like classical music, you shall give a chance to songs of Coke Studio from Season 7 to 10. They are Gems. Enjoy the music.

Nabeel is Sur Kshetra Winner and he proved in the competition, he could sing any Genre yet adding his own flavor, Sethi is a renown semi classical singer since his stay in Harvard. m a formally trained musician (UK) and sing too but i cant comment. Since they are popular across the globe and no one knows me. i should quietly listen them and learn unlike the people who earn Subscribers playing/using their songs and try to sound as if they were their mentors

Thank you for another insightful listening session. I have had the original on my favorite list since childhood days. I think you owe it to yourself to listen to the original version by Asad Amanat Ali Khan. He died young but there are very few classical singers that could so convincingly and effortlessly touch the melancholy in a listeners heart. There are some incredible singers from this time that are all but forgotten because they sang in Siraiki Language or the older forms of Punjabi. Hamid Ali Bela sang “Maey Ni Main Kinon Aakhan” and “Neeon La liya be Parrwah De Nal”. Also Nazar Ejaz qawwali “ Hara ve Jani Raat Reh Po” I wish more young people listened to and understood these songs. No doubt that it's great singing, If you are really lucky you might get hold of the same song sung by Ustad Hamid Ali Khan on KZfaq. I said you will be lucky because Hamid Ali Khan, brother of Ustad Amanat Ali Khan, for some reason rarely releases albums. A time stopper.

Ali sethi, trained by ustad Sami khan, who sang Mundri coke studio.and he is from Delhi gharana. So technically Ali sethi is also from Delhi gharana. Originally, this song was sung by asad amanat Ali Khan. Ali sethi's attempt is good, but the original is far more superior.
