@@AMMediaGames any suggestions how i can get a decal to stick to the material or a png file too? if i parent child the deacal it doesnt change in simulation mode.

if your default character passes through the fabric, set a collision on the character capsule to block all

Sometimes its more than just that setting like checking on CCD, and adding a custom collision in the cloth settings but yes that can solve some issues so thanks for the comment. :)

Thank you, this was really helpful. I m trying to create a net within Unreal which can capture objects. Can you give any insights into how to do that ?

If you make the item you want to capture a blueprint you could just add an overlap event that triggers when the net overlaps that object. Glad the video helped thanks for watching.

Thanks for this great tutorial, it helpd me a lot. Now i run into a problem. I created a flag thats hanging frome a pole but when i hit the play button, the lose end of flag falls a bit and then it stops an it looks like the ens hangs somewhere on have the way to the hanging position. why does that happens? I controlled my vertex painting an it is fine.

@@AMMediaGames Thanks for the quick another. I found the problem. It seams to be a bug, I had to increase the paint value to 1000 instead of 100 and then it worked.

@@Asta_Dena Yes its something to do with the strength of the paint certain parts don't get painted so the calculation doesn't take into consideration the unshaded sections when you cloth paint the mesh. what would you adjust to make it a sail for a boat? I tried changing the wind direction with your setting, it doesn't look nice

In Assassin's Creed black flag the sail's are used as part of a mesh with painted cloth weight it's all about finding the right settings for the right situation. not all settings will just work you have to find the right one for your scenario my tutorial wasn't about cloth sails so it will need adapting and the settings will need to be changed until it looks good enough.

i love the video very well done, but my cloth seems to not want to collide with the environment whether i tick the box or not. i don't know if its my mesh's fault of the character's collision. Do you happen to know why?

Awesome and easy to follow, thank you for sharing. I'm a complete beginner, so forgive me if this is a dumb question. Is this is the same procedure for when one would make an animation? using the sequencer? I basically just want to create a "hoodie", then have the metahuman grab it and pull it on top of his head. I'm thinking of using physics, so that the cloth will collide with the metahumans head/hair, and have the "hoodie" look like its a solid object. Many thanks

dynamic cloth physics and animated are separate to each other to have a transition from dynamic cloth simulation to a static mesh wouldn't work as easily in this video, usually that would be animated separately personally I'd probably animate the cloth " Hoodie " in Blender and have the animation exported as an Alembic ".abc" file type this will give you a way to animate cloth how you like then exporting the animation into Unreal Engine 5. If you are a beginner start off slowly learning cloth simulations and clothing then once you have that knowledge combine it together with blueprints and you will achieve the desired effect you want regarding the " hoodie ". There's many ways of doing things So try to find the one that suits your scenario best.

You do the same really just model the net give it a texture so it looks like a net, model the frame then cloth paint the net around the areas you want it to simulate.

@@AMMediaGames Sure. Imagine you have a mesh and add a texture and a displacement. Then you save the project. Go on vacation for 10 weeks. Then you come back and you think: „This displacment is shit bro“. Then you want to remove it and get the original shape back. Is there a way to do it? Ive never seen the option to edit a displacement or other added tools from the modeling section after it was applied.

Hello AMMediaGames, I heard that UE 5.1 appeared, I don't know what this tool or technology is, but it became possible to automatically calculate collisions of clothes on a character, i.e. I have a model of a naked person on whom I put clothes and at the touch of one button (maybe two, haha) the clothes adjust to the geometry the human body and looks very cool. It seems like you can even make it physically adjust to changes in the geometry of the body. Can you demonstrate this tool in 5.1 and make a video? I'm sick of adjusting underwear on the models of my characters ..)) The clothes look like plastic, i.e. very unnatural

I know to what you are referencing but i won't be doing anything in relation to " naked " bodies on my youtube channel youtube are too strict as it is i will consider doing a tutorial on clothing but I have an extensive list to get through and projects I am working on also. I will add it to my list of tutorials but I will have to make it children friendly of course as I want my channel to be universal for all audiences. :)

You can create a cloth simulation in Blender and export to Unreal Engine 5 as Alembic animation ".abc"

​@@painsiy1 Well you didn't specify in your question which way around so I had to presume. Personally I am not aware of any exporting of Alembic files from Unreal to other software you could try and research yourself into Marvelous designer for Unreal or you can submit a ticket request to Epic and ask them if there is any .abc export support for future builds. I've never tried to create cloth simulation animations in Unreal as it's realtime sims there is no cache simulation in unreal cloth physics as it's all dynamic but when you create them in Blender it creates a cache of the simulation data.

Hi, I have been losing my mind to make cloth simulation work in sequencer, still couldn`t do it, basically I am trying my character to drag a long cape behind him. do you have any idea about how this can be achieved?

I use blender to model the cape/cloth import the character into Blender so you have a reference model to model it around... then import it " cape " into Unreal engine as a skeletal mesh do the same process of weight painting but don't " weight paint " the area where it would be attached to the player then in the character you add the cape as clothing give it a socket to attach to and simulate cloth with CCD enabled, and interact with environment this will cause it to drag behind the player as you wanted.

Not in unreal no as far as I am aware cloth sims dont currently support morph targets. But I could be wrong. Haven't tried in quite a while.

Works same with both just make sure you have player capsule component setup right as thats what collides with the cloth, i will load up Unreal when i get home and double check incase there are any settings that may need tweaking for 3rd person i do have a discord server so if you need specific help you can always join there and ask.

If the cloth isnt acting like cloth you need to make sure you vertex paint it with the cloth paint tool sometimes increasing the brush strength can fix this issue. If you still cant get it working can join the discord channel for further help.

@@AMMediaGames It is a good tool, as you note in 5.1.1 the option to edit "clothes", the tab, sometimes does not appear, including the option to start editing brush, sometimes you have to restart, in 5.0 it is at the seen above in a simpler way, please, it would be very cool if you explained how to associate clothes with physics to a "naked" model and how to organize everything, thank you very much for the tutorial!

Okay I will step it down from flashbang to cap gun most my newer videos have edited sound levels for that reason i suffer with a condition so sometimes i don't even notice I have coughed at all but regardless i take all feedback positively.
