Game Sack Campfire. Pretty simikar to Dead by Dawn, but was scheduled to come out in the early 2000's and had a story mode.

I don't know about unreleased games. But if you guys ever do a Homebrew episode. There a Super Mario Bros port for the Atari 2600 call Princess Rescue. That almost plays like the real things with lesser graphics. Its pretty amazing considering the hardware limitations.

Yea. But I can see why Capcom canned it. This is just too much downgrade. I bet once the nerdgasm of 32 bit game's 8 bit version novelty wears off. The fact that it's too much of a downgrade will be painfully clear. I mean it kinda destroys what original Resident Evil's selling point: exploration, creep psychological horror, and crunchy combat. First of all, the 8 bit environment makes you really lose your sense of direction unless you already played PS1 version multiple times and memorized games (This might be ok with a hardcore OT RE die hard fan but could really disorient new players). Secondly, the 8 bit graphics here makes everything crispy clear which loses the dim and dark atmosphere of the OT RE that give you a sense of dread and fear of unknown monster popping out of no where at any time. Finally, the 8 bit combat just pure bad: the sprite of characters aiming is pure bad and beacuse of the nature of 8 bit, you can't discern who and where your character is aiming at which leads to wasted bullets and lucky B.S. hits (there appear to be only 4 angles). In addition, the animation and sound of zombie getting hit are really unsatisfying. I guess this game proves that there is indeed a limitation of how far a game can be downgraded for ports and still remain playable. I hate to say but this version of RE is playable as a game but seems to be devoid of all the features that made RE a legendary game in the first place.

9/11 was a stupid reason to cancel Propeller Arena. Maybe delay the game a little, but there was no reason to cancel it. It's not like one of the goals in the game is to crash into buildings. Besides, if that's a reason to not release a game, then I suppose companies had better scrap any flight simulator where you can fly over/through a city.

Microsoft made buildings in flight sim uncrashable into after the twin towers unpleasantness. Yeah, pretty pathetic really, and as for SEGA, they should have at least released the game outside America. Most gamers couldn't give a shit about Americans feelings tbh. Classic example of media hysteria influencing unrelated subjects.
@lurkerrekrul
@lurkerrekrul 6 жыл бұрын
+AlexxxPerales - Yes I was. I remember the studio pulling a teaser for the 2002 Spider-Man movie that showed him catching a helicopter in a web between the twin towers. I also remember some other things being edited to remove the towers from the skyline in movies, but that's about it. In March of 2001, the pilot episode of the X-Files spinoff, The Lone Gunmen featured a story where a hacker takes control of the plane they're on and tries to crash it into the World Trade Center. Of course the stars managed to regain control of the plane just in time. Even though it featured a plot very similar to real life, the show was still released on DVD. Not right away, but they didn't cancel the release because of 9/11. If you're going to cancel every game that kinda, sorta mirrors a real life tragedy, then FPS games are going to have to be banned, any driving game where you can crash into objects and people needs to be banned, any war game, etc.

As far as the questions go: I think it was wise of Sega to cancel Propeller Arena as Sega would be blasted to hell and back as it would be in bad taste to release it on the same month and year as the attacks; I'm glad it's preserved, though, as it looks like a solid game. Capcom should have accepted the Resident Evil GBC remake as it looks very competent and with a bit more polish, would have been very well-recieved; possible handheld game of the year contender. Also, they've officially signed on to many crappy Tiger Electronics LCD games, as well as the Game(com) port of Resident Evil 2.

Fun video as always. I remember seeing Jesse Ventura wrestling in a catalog, I think the Sears Wishbook, for the 1991 Christmas season. I looked at that catalog a lot then because I wanted a Genesis for Christmas and wanted to see what games to get with it. I remember thinking Spider-Man vs. Kingpin looked especially good in there. I was into wrestling, so that title caught my interest as well and I've looked up the story behind the game a couple of times over the years. I also remember some coverage of Resident Evil on the GBC back in the day on various game sites. I don't recall if it was ever acknowledged openly at the time, or if it was just rumors and insider information. I do remember seeing a screen shot or two leak out and being surprised how good it looked. At the time, I didn't think there was any way to pull it off. I was surprised when I saw the screen shot(s). I've always had an appreciation for developers pushing the old game hardware to do things unexpected or unintended, so I love seeing stuff like that. I wonder if they would have been able to do a complete game considering the limitations of the system and the limits on cart sizes at the time.

hey guys, i just wanted to make some suggestions for future episodes which may turn out pretty cool. entry level games - want to get into a certain series or genre? try these ones. a collection of games of a specific type that may be easier for some people to get into. example: want to get into (or get good at) shooting games? try "gradius", "thunder force" for this or that reason. did they learn? - companies that used to output pretty bad or mediocre games that actually managed to create some really good ones later on. anyway, just some ideas i'd find amusing to see, and probably many others too. keep up the good work, thank you.
