PLEASE READ THIS - IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Now that I've finally hit 100 instalments I have included an index of who is featured in each one at the end of the video.
My enduring thanks are due to the many subscribers who have been with the channel on a longterm basis, and if you are a regular viewer you would make an old man very happy if you too would subscribe.
I'm indulging myself with this one with 4 particular favourites of mine, all of whom are British, humorous and who most frequently worked in pen and ink.
G. L. Stampa, Leo Cheney, William Ridgewell and L. R. Brightwell
I'm off for a much needed holiday so don't be surprised if it takes me considerably longer than usual to reply to comments. And the next upload will also be a little delayed too.

Congratulations Pete, each one has been a gem. You have compiled such an amazing body of work and effectively taken advantage of the powerful 21st century media of KZfaq to provide a source of artistic inspiration and insight. I truly believe that, over time, these videos will be studied by thousands of aspiring artists. Although my youthful years passed quite awhile ago, each episode has been reinvigorating. Hello again Len, and that's a particularly flattering comment. But if youtube are to be believed when a channel has been inactive for two years they close it down. So I think that in all probability when I eventually fall off my perch that will be the fate of the channel. My plan, such as it is, is to encourage everyone to download the videos to their own computer when/if I hear the chap with the scythe knocking at the door. Did you see the video (unsung 95) featuring Charles Pears - maritime artist and illustrator? I was reminded of you and had a good ogle at your website. Most enjoyable it was too.

@@petebeard Pete, this valuable compendium of your years of work must be maintained and archived. I guess we can’t really know the future of KZfaq. Possible channel developments may provide uninterrupted access for unsung and your individual artist features. Have you considered a dedicated website for unsung?

Hi again, At the moment I'm just keeping an eye on developments. There is currently interest from a publisher about a series of books, but I'm not confident it will lead to anything concrete. I've also considered converting them to e-book/PDF format for download as a possibility. One way or another I'll at least attempt to keep the work alive. And I'm hoping that I won't be becoming RIP any time in the immediate future.

@@petebeard The RIP event is something I can relate to, since there are nearly 80 candles on my birthday cake. I'm not familiar with how an e-book/PDF format works, but if it can present viewers with the same quality and ease of access that KZfaq provides, it may be a good way forward. I don't know how I missed unsung 95. Thanks for the suggestion. Your presentation of the work of Charles Pears was very much appreciated, as are all the other hundreds have been.

Hello and thanks for your appreciation. There's no great mystery about finding the work, but you have to know what/who you are looking for first. The name/genre will almost invariably take you to images and text in various locations and you just have to follow the leads presented and keep on digging. I'm not sure a video about how I make them would appeal to many viewers, but I appreciate the interest, and if you want it I could give you a written 'snapshot' of the basics of what might laughingly be called my methods.

Bravo, Pete, for 100! Terrific series and this one was a great one to end the first 100. Pen and ink is one of my favorites and these illustrators prove simple black and white can say volumes; I was particularly struck by Stampa, reminded me of the great A.B. Frost and his Uncle Remus illustrations. I raise glass to this milestone and hope you have a wonderful and well deserved holiday. Cheers and stay safe!

Congratulations on you first 100 episodes and I, like everyone else, am looking forward to your next 100. As for you recharging your batteries I have to say that is perfectly understandable. You cannot just throw together something of this quality. I loved all of the illustrations in this episode, particularly those of G.L. Stampa. The one of the lady taking up all the space with her dogs reminded me of something I came across several years ago of a wealth 19th century landowner, whose name I have unfortunately forgotten. He had a large number of dog of various breeds and when he travelled by train would would pay for an entire coach to which the dogs had free rein. It made me wonder if Stampa knew about this and used it in this illustration. Worst job on the railway? Having to clean that coach afterwards.

I’ve watched dozens of your wonderful videos but I’ve only just realised that the Unsung series thumbnails all have someone riding horses….or being half horse in the case of the centaur! Your videos are some of the most enriching on all youtube, thank you.

Thanks a lot for your appreciation of my efforts. But just to clarify it started out as person on horseback (it was supposed to represent heroic) but sometimes it's oddities such as a teddy bear on a pig or a fairy on a grashopper. It keeps me amused.
