Janis had one of the most unique & powerful voices with a lot of grit. Sadly we lost her too soon. She was only 27 when she died. She had a lot of great songs in her short life such as "Down On Me", "Little Girl Blue", "Ball & Chain", "Summertime", "Try (Just A Little Bit Harder)", "Get It While You Can", "Bye, Bye Baby", "Move Over", "Mercedes Benz" etc.

Little Girl Blue performed live on the Tom Jones Show. She was clean during this performance and she was unbelievable.

I agree. Janis was like none other. I've got all of her albums and the "I Got Dem ol Kozmic Blues Again Mama album is my favorite. I cry watching her little happy skip as she walked off stage at Monterey Pop. It just breaks my heart.

I love 'Piece of my Heart', 'Me and Bobby Magee', and 'Mercedes Benz'. We all had heart patches on the back of our blue jeans, lol. What can i say, it was the 70's.

I'll recommend a live performance of hers: which is "Work Me Lord" , live in Stockholm. That's also mind-blowing.

My favorite performance of Janis. I'd also add Summertime live 1969 Stockholm and live 1969 live on the Tom Jones Show, Little Girl Blue.

Watch her live version of Ball and chain. From the Monterey festival. Perfect and the audience is mesmerized.

Only thing I dislike about the video they all react to is that it completely cuts a large chunk from the performance, the guitar solos and Janis scatting, which were incredible. I wish just one reactor would watch a video of the entire performance and not the edited one.

I just love me some Janis Joplin! ❤ That voice is so raw yet perfect!! She gave a shot in the arm of blues and folk rock. RIP in peace dear lady. I'm trying to remember I don't think you've done her song Ball and Chain yet. It's a live performance and shows Janis at her best.

Thanks so much for sharing Janis with us once again. If you're looking for a great live performance, I'd suggest you check out "Work Me Lord" (from Stockholm in 1969). As always, she gets straight into your soul.

I didn't even look at who you were reacting to, but once she started singing I new exactly who she was. So iconic.

I was in junior high/high school when Janis was popular. At the time neither I nor my friends listened to her (or even liked her, for that matter). We were all busy listening to Creedence, Three Dog Night, The Grass Roots, and similar bands. The kids who listened to Janis, Hendrix, The Doirs, etc were usually in trouble with the school officials and ones we didn’t hang out with. Years later I’ve come to appreciate the talent that Janis was.

Her live performances on _Dick_ _Cavett_ were great. Unlike much of the concert footage, the television appearances had good audio and her voice was always well-rested.

There's a great live version of 'Maybe' from Ed Sullivan Show, that i really recommend. Other good live songs from Janis; - ' Work Me, Lord' (Stockholm '69) - 'To Love Somebody' (Dick Cavett Show) - 'Raise Your Hand' and 'Little Girl Blue' (Tom Jones Show)

A band from that era you should listen to is Procul Harum. They were from Essex and had a song that sold 10 million copies in 1967. A Whiter Shade of Pale. They did a concert in 2006 with the Danish National Concert Orchestra and performed this song. The lead singer Gary Booker was amazing, his voice just got better with age. I think you will be blown away. RIP Gary Booker

the 2 people that we had never heard or seen the likes of at that time or ever will again were Janis and Jimi Hendrix, they both took us by storm and before we knew it they were both gone within a few weeks of each other. So tragic as they were only 27 and just turning the corner musically getting even better than what they already were.

They started and stopped so many times trying to make a biopic about her. No one out there matches her stage presence. They finally realized the only person that could portray Janis is Janis and released Little Girl Blue for us. Of course, musical taste is subjective. But in my opinion, she is untouchable. Throw your names out there. She will top them all. Losing her the way we did and as early as we did is a goddamn travesty. Imagine the music she had left to make and what could have been. EDIT: Just FYI, the Rose starring Bette Midler is the closest Hollywood ever got to making a Janis biopic. I highly recommend watching it. Bette did a phenomenal job portraying a singer like Janis Joplin.
