It's weird Olivia Colman is an Oscar Winner but I could totally see her doing it. Patrick Stewart could appear as a one off doctor. Richard Ayoade would be a great doctor as well!

imo i don't really want them to cast anyone who's already really famous. I feel like I wouldn't really be able to see them as the doctor and only really as the actor themself.

As much as I’d love a lot of these choices, you make a fantastic point. I know the existing actors firstly by their roles as The Doctor. It makes watching them perform as the Doctor feel purely him. As opposed to seeing someone I already know just as a time traveler. Peter Capaldi, though, I knew beforehand. And he’s now my absolute favorite Doctor

The closest thing we'll get to benedict cumberbatch and hugh laurie as the doctor are matt smith and peter capaldi I think benedict and hugh would make great masters! Great video and love the music!

Tilda swinton and Gillian Anderson would be very interesting doctors. They have that tone of voice where they can be gentle, sexy, confident, smart, funny/witty but also have that more loud serious tone for monologues.

Personally, I think that Richard Ayoade has probably already been offered the role, but declined due to it being too early in his career, or hasn’t been offered because it’s expected that he would decline. With NuWho providing a lot of notable exceptions, DW has classically been a career finale because of how iconic the role is and the subsequent typecasting. I’d LOVE to see Ayoade or Hiddleston as the Doctor, though I acknowledge that it would be unlikely, at least within the TV show. Big Finish, however…

I don't know how I'd feel about Simon being the doctor since he's already had a role in the show before, it would be really weird to randomly have the same guy suddenly be a time lord, especially because of the people who would point it out, then the producers would have to somehow write in that Simon's original role was somehow the doctor and it'd be a whole thing

Some of these have already said they'd not take the role & I think if I recall Cumberbatch was close to it but instead went for Sherlock? If you want to see a list of cool actors playing the Doctor watch the Children in Need BBC special with Rowan Atkinson, it's brilliant.
