Historical Racism in Pukekohe update - grandmothers come together to right injustices | The Hui 2023

Күн бұрынRetired nurse Julie Lewis meets Phyliis Bhana after seeing The Hui in May 2023 about the historic race-based separatism that discriminated against Māori in Pukekohe. Julie's grandfather Cuthbert Penney had a market garden and she wanted to acknowledge past injustices. They visit Pukekohe Cemetery where a memorial will be put for those who were buried in graves without headstones.

when i was 10 yrs old my dad took me there to work it taught me about the people who i worked with i came from a time across pakeha people who made me realize the same problem we had they had also so in the end love and forgiveness is greater than hatred unity instead of segregation

jesus had nothing to do with this, this project was driven by maori for maori, nothing to do with jesus or some imaginary bearded guy i the sky.

lol, I didn't know Pukekohe had a hood. Went bus riding out that way a few year back and hopped on a loop run from Pukekohe township.
