(UPDATED) How to 3D Model Fursuit Eyes in Blender (2.8)

2 жыл бұрынReally wanted to redo this tutorial since I learned more about Blender since then! I am more efficient in my construction of follow me eyes. I hope this helps any makers wanting to get into more durable eyes!

Followed this on the most recent version of blender as of this comment, it works just as well, I set my solidify mode to complex because off of complex it started looking all weird, and it took me a bit of individually moving vertices because I didn't feel like learning anything else.

When you're double-checking the size, how do you turn on the measurements in blender so you can see it?

Wonderful tutorial, i was wondering if you could make one on the settings you use in the slicer program to make your eyes print smoothly, for some reason no matter what i do i have too many visible layer lines. Tip and tricks for that would be helpful. Thank you.

I don't know enough about slicing/layers to make a whole video on it, but I can tell you the settings I have done! Though you can still see my layer lines once you get close. Not sure how bad yours are haha. initial layer height - .3mm layer height - .25mm infill density 20% print speed 50 mm/s

Hi, so sorry if this is a silly question since its my first time using blender! I've gotten up to 6:42 and I've selected the rings but don't know how to exclude the outer ones. Tried googling and couldn't find an answer. If you could help I would really appreciate it!! Ive found this tutorial super helpful so far

I'm pretty sure it's just the exact same way you selected them, by alt-clicking, if you click it again it should deselect! You may have to deselect every vertice, not sure.

i have the same problem! if i try to deselect the ones on the outside it does on both sides, they just act as one.

Solved! you have to go to object mode, then select all vertices (you can just press A) then press control + shift + B and select union :D

What kind and brand of tape do you used for patterning? I’m having a hard time finding masking tape that sticks together well enough

im sorry you had issues! i honestly use the masking tape i find at Dollar Tree and it sticks to itself really nice. if you cant find anything at all, then i guess your other option is using duct tape - and if thats TOO sticky and rips the foam, then you could stick the tape to your pants/etc to get some of the stickiness off first.

Hi! I can't move any of the vertices without it moving the whole circle. I am brand new to Blender and really need some help :') what should I do?

sounds like you have the entire thing selected? try unselecting everything (i think it's pressing A twice)

@@X_SUCCUBEAST_X I had that same issue and it turned out that I had to make the brush veeeeery small. As in "0.05" kind of small, before it actually appeared on my screen. Maybe you have the same issue?

Please help! at 5:28 you delete the center and there is still a bottom to the eye that is left, but for me it sadly wont work, because it also deletes the bottom to the eye. Is there a way to change this? I have tried doing 2 parts of raising, but that wont work either. EDIT: ALREADY FIXED.

@@freckledcatcreations It's fine but tysm! I am making a fursuit and this tutorial helped so much. The problem was that I focused on all of the dots, not just the outside ones, which didn't leave a bottom to it. I just flipped it around and moved it a bit, but still tysm!

You can also use the subdivide modifier to smooth it quicker! Great video :>

see if you subdivide the whole mesh, then the top and bottom edges get rounded off, and we usually want a crisp edge. this is why I only select the INSIDE loops and avoid the ones near the rims because they would always kinda round off those 90 degree angles. and i do want a flat top edge so I can glue the eyelash felt to it!

i get my stepbro to print them for me, and he uses a Qidi X-smart. I can't speak on the quality or price, I don't know much. the prints he gives me, though, dont seem horrible! I'm planning to buy a CR-10 v2 (from Creality) for myself soon though. always hear good things about that one. and it's got a lot of community assets and help.

when i click mirror, the 2 eyes merge together, a little help 😭👍

it's probably mirroring over the vertical axis and your first eye is overlapping the axis! if you move your eye more to the side and then mirror the eyes wont be touching.
